CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Dax landed safely in a secluded clearing on the far side of the island. In the distance the volcano still rumbled, a testament of Mother Nature’s resolve to have the final word. He crouched down, allowing Jane to slide off his back. Now that she had seen him in his true form, he hesitated before shifting back to human. She’d had fear in her eyes when he’d shifted earlier.
