Alpha Caspian’s POV
The Alpha is crazy.
I felt cringe when that statement replayed in my head.
“And you are overthinking things again,Caspian.”
My Beta whispered into my ears before holding my hand and leading me out of the crowd.
We found a quiet spot and sat down in silence.
“I am not over thinking anything.”
His hand went to my shoulders, and he squeezed them tightly.
He put his hand underneath my jaw and put my face close to his, so we were maintaining crucial eye contact.
“You can lie to everyone in this pack, but not to your Beta. I know when you lie and when you tell the truth.”
I looked at him in silence, then I bit my lower lip hard, trying to overcome the upcoming tears.
“Alphas don’t cry,”
He patted my back and we both stood up and headed to the bus.
“I just hope that Pa Kyran finds a cure for whatever is going on.”
I muttered to myself before shutting my eyes and closing my ears from the indistinct murmurs.
The only thing on my mind was stopping these dreams because with every night, they became realer and harder to ignore.
The image of my head rolling helplessly on the ground while the crowd laughed at me hysterically haunted me daily.
Death is inevitable, but I was not willing to die a shameful death.
Pa Kyran was my personal healer and the one who stayed with the gods and the Alpha even after urbanization and standardization took place.
He is the mediator between an Alpha and his ancestor and he was the only one I trusted to help me find the reason and cure for all that is happening.
“We are here.”
My Beta, Astrolyn, snapped me back into reality.
“Oh, thank goodness.”
We hurried into Pa Kyran hatch, trying to maneuver our way through the very thick bushes.
“Alpha Caspian! What brings you here?”
His voice was thunderous, making both Astrolyn and I to have a jumped heart.
He looked older now, his beards and eyebrows turning grey and some of his visible teeth missing.
“Old man, Kyran! It has been a really long time.”
“Of course, you forgot about me after you were crowned Alpha.”
I tinged and my fur almost curled into my body.
I never checked up on him because I never really counted him as a member of MateHoundpack.
He was the healer, yes but his archaic way and low standards did not qualify him to be a member of the pack and the silence was better than slamming hurtful words at him.
“You know I did not forget about you, I just had a lot going with being Alpha.”
He looked at me from head to toe and shook his head.
He pointed at the seat opposite us and offered them to us.
“Sit on four legs.”
“But nobody still uses four legs,Pa Kyran. That is old fashioned.”
I blurted a sarcastic reply.
“Old fashioned you say? Now tell me what has your new fashion brought except wolves with bigger egos and a city suffering from over population and pollution. During my time, it was never like that!”
I looked at Astrolyn, and he looked at me, the both of us contemplating on whether to ignore him or just go with the flow to avoid long talks.
“I am waiting, all fours.”
He pointed our legs and demonstrated how he wanted us to to sit.
We nodded and got in the position.
“So what brings the both of you here today?”
I raised my paw to answer.
“I think my moon gods and the ancestors of our pack are angry at me! They are letting these scary nightmares haunt me and put me in a state of shame and embarrassment.”
“Hmm, I have never heard of an Alpha that our ancestors punished unless they wanted to teach him a lesson or send him a blessing! Have you committed any abomination against your pack or your Luna?”
My Beta replied quickly, on my behalf.
“Everybody in the pack loves him. His Luna hated him but I don’t think he has done anything bad to her.”
“That is correct.”
I nodded in agreement and stared at Pa Kyran.
“Oh really, then why are they sending me scenes of my own death…with my head rolling from decapacitation?”
“That I cannot answer but you can go on an Alpha journey to find out answers for yourself.”
“An Alpha journey? I have never heard of that one before.”
Pa Kyran scratched his head and blows somethings off the palm of his hand.
“It is not a popular topic because most Alphas do it in private. You don’t expect it to be in story books too. It is very sacred.”
“What is the essence of this journey, old one?”
“I think the moon gods are trying to send you a blessing. It might be a guardian angel that would save you from death or soemone to help improve the Pack. You need to find out who or what the blessing is.”
“How are we going to embark on this journey?”
“The market. You need to get herbs that would help you sense when the moon gods are talking to you and it would also help you know when you found your blessing.”
I was still confused, but he said more than enough. I just needed to digest it.
“Thank you.”
“But be careful. The journey has a down side of temptations.”
With those words, he got up and left our presence.
Beta Astrolyn and I decided to keep this Alpha journey a secret and we entered the market like it was a casual window shopping.
After about ten minutes, while I was admiring some herbs, a wolf passed me and my senses gyrated.
I started to feel intense admiration towards a wolf, a feeling very new to me.
My d**k was heavy and sweats trickled down my face.
I turned around and was immediately lovestruck by the brown furred, blue eyes female wolf.
She was very beautiful and looked like she existed hundred years ago.
