CHAPTER1
***Hazel*** My heavenly life changed to hell one night, and I will never forget it. I will never forget the instant my flawless existence, which everyone else found admirable, faltered. I made the decision to throw a lavish birthday celebration for my husband, Liam, this year. Though I didn't like the concept and preferred our previous low-key celebration, I consented to it out of support as his wife, which turned out to be my biggest mistake. I'm Hazel Jones, the pack's Luna, married to Liam Gilbert, the alpha of the star-rising pack. I was chosen by Liam to be his Luna when I was eighteen. At sixteen, I began dating him, and he was twenty. I was too young for him to touch me, yet we still fell in love and promised to be together. Just because Liam only had eyes for me, many of the pack's women detested me and even went to lengths to get my husband to leave me. My beauty wasn't the best. Even though I wasn't quite as attractive as the others, he still loved me despite this. My confidence is always boosted and my love for him grows when he tells me that he never regrets picking me. He also adores my blue eyes. He loves my natural beauty over artificial stuff, so he never urged me to wear crazy clothes or makeup. That year, when Liam became the alpha of the pack, he claimed me. That same year, as his parents were choosing to take a vacation, they had an accident that took their lives. I carried out my responsibilities while sporting my Luna sneakers with pride. Since I was an experienced warrior, the pack was always in capable hands when Liam ventured outside of our territory on missions. We have been happily married for seven years. I was now twenty-five years old, Liam was almost twenty-nine. I loved him so much, and he loved me too. There was nothing anyone could do about it and no one could come between us, or so I thought, until the birthday party when my life turned upside down. Liam turned around and noticed her as we were seated in the mansion at our designated position. Her physique was hourglass shaped, with long red curling hair, brown eyes, full red lips, gorgeous tanned skin, tall straight legs, and lovely tan skin. ideal proportions in contrast to my body's pear shape. "Liam, Liam," I called out to my mate but he did not answer; he was enthralled with the stunning woman wearing the midnight red velvet gown. He shook slightly, as if he were in a trance, when I spoke to him again and gently touched his hand. I grinned at him as he turned to face me. "We should end the party dear; it's getting late and I don't feel so well," I lied, trying to remove his mind from her but his eyes had wandered back to her and she was looking at him now. She became captivated by his stare as well, and their eyes seemed to be lost on one another. I had no idea when my heart started pounding. Even though I didn't want to accept it, I am aware that my husband has found someone, his mate and she is not me. This time, I was losing it because of his comments that he would never leave me and that he was the happiest person to have me. With a hint of anxiety in my voice, I murmured, "Liam, let's end this party and go inside." I pleaded; just then Harry, our closest friend, approached us. "Alpha Liam, I hope you and Luna Hazel are enjoying yourselves," he asked. I grabbed Liam's hand so Harry wouldn't know he was glancing at someone. "Harry," Liam remarked, nodding as he turned to face his pal. "Who is that lady?," Liam asked, his curiosity evident, "I haven't seen her before." Liam just did something disrespectful, and Harry looked at me for it. He decided to ask Harry, which is what I was avoiding from Harry to notice. I gulped and averted my gaze, at a loss for words. They were lustful for one another, so even though he hadn't done anything, I knew he would. She is Alpha Gabriel's daughter of Moon Peak Pack. After studying abroad, she recently came home. "Her name is Red Anderson," Harry said, and Liam nodded, repeating her name as he regarded her entire body with intense longing in his eyes. Harry chose to excuse himself after he appeared uneasy. With a smile, I released him. I did not say anything, just stayed mute, because there was nothing I could say at that point. I decided to take a backseat and wait to see how things worked out. We had claimed each other, therefore I didn't think Liam would waste the seven years of our lives together. I know he wouldn't reject her for the same reason, therefore he can't reject me because doing so will weaken his wolf. Each alpha cherished their strength and shied away from circumstances that could weaken them. I could have rejected him and left if he had been a regular member, but he was an Alpha. "Excuse me, Hazel," Liam remarked, drawing me back to the present. I didn't bother to ask him where he was heading to. I noticed her go toward the garden, and he trailed behind, so I knew he was going to talk to her. I wanted to follow them at this point so I could hear their discussion, but tears were flowing down my cheeks. I was too scared to find out what they were talking about for fear that it would destroy me even more. I waited for Liam for an hour, but he never showed up. I considered going to bed, but I needed to go for a run to get my mind clear. I got to my feet and went outside, crying uncontrollably this time since I had no idea what to do to stop my heart from exploding. "Hazel, what shall we do? We own him,” My wolf whimpered, "He claimed us and we claimed him.” I was in equal pain and did not know what to tell her. I was unprepared for this because of what he had promised, but the trauma was too great and I could not believe this was actually occurring. I trusted him, then he betrayed me. I sobbed as thoughts of the two of them raced through my head. I sobbed because I didn't want everything we had created to be destroyed in that way. I know that I would not be rejected by him because my strength balances his. Over the course of the last seven years, Liam and I have worked together to build the pack and develop our respective areas. I wasn't an Alpha, therefore I will have nothing if he chooses to reject me for her sake. Zitel and I had a sudden, intense pain in our hearts while we were running, and I didn't have to speculate as to why. I will experience anguish if he makes intimate contact with anyone because we were mated together. "Damn you, Liam, Damn you!" Zitel howled at the crescent moon in the sky while I sobbed. After running for a few hours, I made the decision to return home. It dawned on me that everyone had left and the maids were cleaning all around the place. "Hazel," he said, and I angrily shook my head. "How could you, Liam? You vowed to reject her if it ever came to that. I said, "You said you would love me." He was quiet, so I left him there and went upstairs to shower before turning in for the night. "But how could I sleep with what is happening and Liam is not ready to fight with me to make this work." I pondered in my mind. "Hazel," Liam whispered and he lay in bed next to me. "Hazel, I apologize. Please, I need time to think things through," he added. What he just said irritated me so much. "Time?," I said while sitting upright. For what purpose did you require time? Since you have claimed me and we have been married for seven years, you are not allowed to be thinking about anything. "Please give me time, you are my wife and Luna and no one is taking your place; I wanted to reject her but I wanted her the more, I don't know how I could explain this to you," he begged. He added, "I swear to you, I won't touch her," and I let out a pained laugh. "You don't need to make empty promises any more because you have already touched her and I felt every bit of it," I responded to him and he was quiet as usual. I just need to be ready for the worst as I know this will not end well.
