Chapter 1 Get Out!
"Gracelyn Sheffield!"
That shout startled Gracelyn, and she immediately woke up. She opened her eyes and saw a pair of dark and fierce eyes.
She was stunned for a few seconds before she realized where she was.
Hampton saw her small body, and his pupils suddenly contracted. He grabbed the quilt and threw it at her.
Only then did Gracelyn hide in the quilt in a panic. She looked at him with big watery eyes.
She watched Hampton get up, turn around, and walk into the bathroom without looking at her. She called out to him at a loss, "Hampton..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Hampton looked at her sharply. "Hampton?"
His tone was too cold, and Gracelyn could only feel her heart tremble when she looked at him. Then she hurriedly said, "Mr. Westley..."
When she returned last night, there was a blackout at home. Before she could figure out what was going on, Hampton grabbed her and dragged her into the room.
She didn't know whether he was drunk or not, but she only vaguely smelled alcohol and blood in the darkness.
Last night was just like a nightmare.
Just as she was about to explain, she suddenly saw a blood mark on Hampton's muscular waist.
Before she could see clearly, Hampton turned around and walked to the edge of the bed. He reached out and pinched her small chin, saying in a deep voice, "Gracelyn, do you think I can tolerate you in this way?"
"No, I..." Gracelyn could only deny it in a hurry.
Before she could finish her words, she saw Hampton's eyes flash with disgust.
Gracelyn only looked at his undisguised expression and her heart sank. She was stunned.
Outside the door, Brielle's surprised voice suddenly sounded. "The clothes belong to Miss... Why are they at the door?"
Hampton released Gracelyn, turned around, and threw a shirt at Gracelyn. He said in a deep voice, "Put it on and get out."
He was asking her to get out now!
But there were so many people outside, and everyone would find out!
Gracelyn couldn't help but tremble in a panic. Tears streaked her face. She grabbed Hampton's arm and pleaded softly, "Can you listen to my explanation? Last night I..."
Hampton flung her hand away with a cold face. "Gracelyn, you are the same as your mother."
Gracelyn was thrown back to the bed.
However, what was even more hurtful were the words that he had just blurted out.
She could not understand or interfere in her parents' matters when she was little. She only remembered that she had been crying and begging her parents not to divorce, but they still got a divorce.
When her mother brought her to the Westley's house, she was only six years old. The Westley family did not accept them, so her mother asked her to soften Hampton up so that they could have a place in the Westley family, so she did it.
She knew that Hampton had never liked her, and he disliked this annoying tagalong.
But even though he was cold to her, he had never showed disgust like this in front of her.
Gracelyn didn't know what the problem was. Her mind was blank, and she didn't understand why Hampton had become like this after a few days. Before he left last time, he still said that he would bring back the tea-flavored cake she liked to eat.
"I'll give you ten seconds. Get out!"
Hampton gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice.
Gracelyn looked at him in a daze, and her palms turned cold.
