Three years ago, I was forced to sign the papers dissolving our mate bond.

Three years later, I walked back into Crescent Pack wearing the title of pack doctor.

And the Alpha who once looked down on me from his throne , Ethan was lying unconscious on my examination table.

Silver dust poisoning. His wolf teetering on the edge of permanent sleep.

Ironic, isn't it?

The reason he rejected me three years ago was that an Omega wasn't worthy of standing beside a future Alpha.

And now, the only person who could save him was me.

"Luna asked me to tell you," Beta Marcus said, his voice flat and cold. "If you let him die, the entire pack will never forgive you."

I picked up my scalpel and looked at Alpha Ethan's ashen face.

His wolf was fighting. Weakly. Like a candle flame about to go out.

I leaned down, close to his ear.

"Tell the Luna," I said quietly, "that three years ago, he drove me out of this pack with his own hands. I wonder if he ever imagined it would come to this."

I straightened up, and my voice didn't waver.

"Alpha Ethan. Do you remember what you said to me the night you rejected me?"

"You said an Omega's blood was dirty."

Chapter 1
I said it so casually. Like I was recounting the weather. Alpha Ethan's eyelids flickered slightly on the examination table, but he didn't wake up. The silver dust toxin was spreading through his body. His skin had turned an unnatural grayish-white, and fine beads of sweat dotted his forehead. "Elena." Beta Marcus's voice cut through my thoughts. "Are you going to save him or not?" I looked away from Ethan and turned toward the man standing in the doorway. Three years. Marcus hadn't changed much, same severe face, same rigid posture. A few more lines around the eyes, maybe. "I'm a pack doctor," I said. "Saving people is what I do." My voice was completely calm. Like I was talking about nothing at all. "But before I begin, I need to know how he was poisoned." Marcus hesitated. "Three days ago, Alpha Ethan was ambushed by a rogue pack during a border patrol. They used silver-dusted blades." I nodded and walked to the medicine cabinet. My fingers moved along the row of herb bottles and stopped on a vial of deep-green liquid. Cleansing Flame extract. The most effective antidote for silver dust poisoning. "What about his wolf?" I asked. "Can you still sense him?" Marcus's expression grew heavy. "Barely. Our pack doctor said if we wait any longer, his wolf might fall into a permanent sleep." I didn't respond. I just started laying out the surgical tools in silence. Cleansing Flame extract. Moonstone powder. Wolfheart herb tea. I'd used these a hundred times during my three years studying medicine at Silvermoon Pack. I never thought I'd be using them on Alpha Ethan. "Elena." Marcus stopped me. I looked back and saw the hesitation on his face. "Luna Victoria wanted me to tell you, if you need anything at all, the pack will provide it." I gave a small, humorless smile. Luna Victoria. Three years ago, she was just another girl. Now she was the Lady of Crescent Pack. And I , once the fated mate chosen by the Moon Goddess herself for Alpha Ethan ,was a wandering pack doctor with no home. Fate really does have a sense of humor. "Tell the Luna I don't need anything." I turned back to Ethan's wounds and began. "I just need quiet." The door clicked shut behind me. The examination room went still. Just me and the unconscious Alpha. I looked at his pale face, and my thoughts drifted back without permission. Three years ago. We were both so young.
