CHAPTER TEN

R18+ She opened her eyes, locking her gaze onto his as he aligned himself and pushed deep inside her in one smooth, agonizingly sweet movement. A sharp, breathless moan echoed in the room. Jasmine’s hands slid down his shoulders, her nails digging lightly into the broad, firm muscle of his back as he filled her completely. The initial ache from earlier was entirely gone, replaced by a deep, throbbing warmth that resonated through every nerve in her body. Anthony froze for a beat, letting her body wrap tightly around him, his chest heaving against hers as he fought for composure. He leaned down, capturing her mouth in a deep, possessive kiss that drank in every soft sound she made. Then, he established a slow, powerful rhythm. The movement was fluid, deep, and relentless. Anthony moved with a confident, rhythmic grace, his broad body hovering over hers, anchoring her to the bed as wave after wave of intense sensation crashed over them. Every thrust was calculated to drive her higher, every shift of his weight drawing soft, helpless cries from her lips. Jasmine lost all sense of time and place. The room, her past, her fears, and her family’s betrayal dissolved into nothingness. There was only Anthony—his weight, his heat, his deep voice whispering breathless endearment against her collarbone, and the overwhelming feeling of being utterly cherished and wanted. Her legs wrapped tightly around his waist, drawing him deeper, matching his rhythm stroke for stroke. The heat in the room spiraled upward, building into a tight, unbearable coil that demanded release. "Anthony... please..." Jasmine gasped, her fingers tightening on his shoulders as the electric tension peaked within her. Anthony’s eyes burned into hers, his pace quickening, his thrusts growing deeper and more urgent. "I'm right here, sweetheart," he rasped out, his voice rough and heavy with passion. "Let go. I've got you." The dam broke. Jasmine threw her head back into the pillow, a loud, breathless cry shattering the quiet of the room as a blinding, explosive climax rippled through her entire body. The intense contractions pulsed around him, wringing a low, guttural groan from Anthony’s chest. Driven over the edge by her pleasure, Anthony buried himself deep within her one final time, surrendering completely as his own intense release swept through him, holding her so fiercely against his heart that not a sliver of air remained between them. Silence returned to the master suite, heavy, sweet, and absolute. They lay completely spent, their skin slick with heat, breathing in sync as their heartbeats slowly settled. Anthony shifted his weight, rolling onto his back and pulling Jasmine tightly onto his chest. She rested her head beneath his chin, her arms wrapped around his torso, feeling completely weightless, satisfied, and filled to the brim with a love she no longer had to doubt. Anthony pulled the thick duvet over both of them, shielding them from the world outside. He wrapped his arms around her like a fortress, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her forehead. "Go to sleep, Jasmine," Anthony whispered into the dark, his voice steady, warm, and deeply contented. "You're home." Wrapped in his arms, held close to his heart, Jasmine closed her eyes and drifted into a deep, dreamless sleep. The mid-morning sun cast bright, golden beams across the dark wood flooring of the master suite. When Jasmine opened her eyes, the space beside her was already cold. A neatly folded note lay on Anthony’s pillow in his precise, copperplate handwriting: Board meeting at 8:00 AM. Breakfast is warm in the kitchen. Please rest. Jasmine had smiled softly to herself, but as the quiet hours of the morning passed, the gravity of what had happened settled in. Sleeping in his arms, letting down her guard, stepping into his world—it was breathtaking, but it was also terrifying. She needed her bearings. She needed her drafting table, her blue-lined tracing paper, and the familiar scent of graphite to remind herself of who she was before she completely lost her head to Anthony de Mercer. So, while Anthony was in his mid-afternoon executive meeting, Jasmine carried her small suitcase, her laptop, and her sketchbooks back down the wide hallway to her original guest bedroom. By 7:30 PM, the penthouse private elevator chimed. Anthony stepped into the foyer, loosening his silver silk tie with one hand. His eyes immediately scanned the open-plan living room, looking for her. The house was dead silent, save for the hum of the air filtration system. "Jasmine?" he called out, his deep voice carrying through the high-ceilinged space. No answer. A faint line of tension formed between his dark brows. He walked briskly down the long corridor toward the master suite, pushing the heavy oak door open. The bed was meticulously made. Her laptop was gone from his desk. Her worn canvas tote bag was missing from the corner chair. Anthony stood frozen in the doorway, a sudden, cold knot forming in his stomach. He turned on his heel and marched down the hall toward the guest wing. He didn't knock—his patience completely evaporated—and pushed open the door to her old room. Jasmine was sitting at her small wooden desk under the warm glow of her desk lamp, a fine-liner pen between her fingers, drafting a set of elevation layouts. She looked up, startled by the sudden intrusion. "Anthony? You're home early—" She stopped. Anthony stood in the doorway, his broad frame blocking the light from the hallway. His suit jacket was unbuttoned, his collar open, and his usual unshakable, aristocratic posture was replaced by something stiff, rigid, and visibly offended. His dark eyes swept over her room—taking in her suitcase placed back in the corner, her pencils neatly arranged on her desk, and the quiet separation she had re-established between them. He didn't say a word. He simply crossed his arms over his broad chest, leaned his shoulder against the door frame, and stared at her. The silence stretched for ten long, suffocating seconds. Jasmine blinked, setting her pen down. "Is... something wrong?" "You moved back," Anthony said. His voice was flat, low, and laced with a quiet, undeniable chill that usually made senior board members sweat. Jasmine pressed her lips together to fight off a sudden, betraying smile. The formidable CEO of de Mercer Global—a man who dictated multi-billion-dollar corporate takeovers—was currently standing in her doorway, visibly sulking. "I didn't 'move back,' Anthony," Jasmine explained gently, turning her chair around to face him. "This is where my desk is. My drafting tools are here, my thesis prints are pinned to this board—" "My suite has a desk," Anthony interrupted smoothly, his dark eyes narrowing into an icy glare. "It is three times larger than this one. It has an ergonomic Italian leather chair." "Your desk is covered in Mercer Global quarterly reports!" Jasmine countered, holding his intense gaze. "Besides, I work late. I scratch the paper with my pencils, I spill eraser dust, and I drink cheap coffee. I didn't want to mess up your room." "It is our room," Anthony corrected instantly, his tone firm, stubborn, and completely unyielding. He uncrossed his arms and took three long strides into her space, stopping right beside her small wooden desk. He towered over her, looking down at her drawings with a dark, dissatisfied scowl. "I spent eight hours in meetings today," Anthony murmured, his voice dropping an octave, losing its formal edge and turning low and raspy. "I listened to three regional directors argue over logistics yields. And the only thought that made the day tolerable was coming home to find you where I left you." Jasmine’s breath hitched slightly at the raw, possessive honesty in his words. The quiet warmth from the previous night rushed back into her chest. "Anthony..." she whispered, looking up at his sharp, handsome face. "I'm right here. I didn't leave the apartment." "You put a wall between us again," he said quietly, his gaze dropping to her face, searching her eyes. The brooding, sulky front melted away for a brief second, revealing the subtle vulnerability beneath it—the quiet fear of a man who didn't know how to handle the distance once he had experienced her closeness. "Was last night a mistake to you?" "No!" Jasmine stood up instantly, stepping out from behind her desk so she was standing right in front of him. She reached out, her hands resting against his broad chest, feeling the heavy, steady thud of his heart beneath his dress shirt. "No, Anthony. Last night wasn't a mistake." Anthony’s jaw relaxed slightly, but his dark eyes remained fixed on hers, demanding more. "Then why are your things back in this room?" Jasmine let out a soft, helpless laugh, shaking her head. "Because I was overwhelmed, okay? I’ve spent months building walls to protect myself from this entire situation. Last night, you tore them all down in a few hours. I just... I needed a moment to gather my thoughts, so I wouldn't lose my mind." Anthony stared down at her hands resting against his chest. Slowly, his large hands came up, wrapping around her waist, pulling her firmly against his body until there was no space left between them.
