5am, I’d got up, too nervous to sleep in, I showered, applied my make up and dressed, at 6;30 I left, I caught the bus arriving across the road from the towers, I walked to Sam’s café.
She smiled upon seeing me.
“Wow! You must start early!” I say surprised.
“Yeah I had to open at 5am this morning the coffee machine needed a service, but she’d all new again.” Sam replies. “flat white 2 sugars?” She asks, I nod impressed she remembered.
I thank Sam, before scuttling quickly across the busy road, as soon as it’s safe.
I look at the time as I arrive outside Mr Worth’s office, taking a deep breath, I push open the door without knocking as instructed.
I plaster a smile, but frown upon finding the room empty, a chuckle sounds behind me causing me to jump.
“s**t!” I curse in surprise.
“Good morning to you too..” Mr Worth greets huskily.
“Good morning.” I reply nervously, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
“Seems I chose a good one, you beat me by a good 5 mins I suspect.” He continues as he saunters past me, a wicked grin on his face as he moves to sit behind his desk.
“Well what would you like me to do today?” I ask, straining for normalcy again as my heart slows to its normal rhythm again.
He doesn’t look up as he speaks, waving a hand to a corner of the office, to a desk I didn’t remember seeing yesterday.
“That’s you desk there, all phones calls will be put through you before I receive them, that way you can ask whom I’d like to speak to and if I have any errand’s, I don’t have to come looking for you.” He explains with a bored tone, I pout in disappointment; he must have caught this because he addresses my expression.
“What’s the problem?” He asks.
“I-I.. not a problem as such but, I would of liked to have an office outside, with the other’s…” I’m feeling a little unsure; I knew how easily rumours could start.
“You’re worried about what the other will say..” Mr Worth’s says in a teasing voice, grabbing my attention.
“So what if I am?” I snap with a frown.
He stands up coming around the edge of his desk, stalking towards me with mischievous eyes.
I take up a defensive position as he comes closer he reaches out, I close my eyes.
After a moments I feel finger tips, they trace down one side of my face gently, my eyes snap open and meet Mr Worth’s, the touch reminding me of early days with Tom.
“Don’t.” I grind out, Mr Worth blinks and drops his hand, instead he leans in a smirk on his lips.
“Maybe I want them to talk, maybe I don’t care, maybe I want you in my bed..” He says with a smug assurance in his voice.
“Maybe I don’t want them to Talk, Maybe I do care, Maybe I don’t want to be in your bed or any bed with YOU.” I finish pointedly, annoyed with his entitled attitude.
Mr Worth holt’s his approach, blinking, his face shows how stunned he is by my words.
“Do you not find me attractive?” He asks, his voice vulnerable and confused, I almost laugh.
“I never said your not attractive, you personality is just repulsive to me.” I correct, my first day and I was insulting my boss.
“Was $6,000 not enough?” Mr Worth asks, his voice back to it’s usually boring tone of un-interest.
“$6,000 was fine, before you were a dick.” I reply, pulling my bag higher on my shoulder. “I’m going to get another coffee since this one’s gone cold, you want one?” I ask, his eyes flash, then he smiles.
“White, two sugars.” He says, my eyes widen a fraction, but I say nothing, only nodding briefly before leaving the office.
