Star-struck Stupid.

Jack’s POV My heart beat rapidly, she’d been gorgeous, and her defiance had definitely left an impression on me, was it a good or bad one, I didn’t know. I’d been star-struck from the moment I’d found her sitting in the corner, rather then in front of me. Then when she’d stood in that beautiful fitted skirt suit of deep blue, I knew she was nothing like the other women I’d seen so far.. Her eyes sparkled with hope and challenge, her tan complexion making her green eyes like pop like inset green diamonds, her high cheek bones defined by perfect make up, her hair shone like silk as she sauntered towards my desk, she was a solid woman her curves enticing, her outfit enhanced her hour glass figure, though seemed too tight at the waist and yet she was the perfect woman. Yes at that moment, I had no doubt in my mind, that she was the one for the job both in gravitating looks and her ability to set me off balance. Telling her my first name as she moved to leave, had left both her and I surprised, but she’d immediately used it to my appreciation, the sound of my name of her lips.. left me wanting more. I’d known her less then 5 mins, I was intrigued at the way she’d effected me, I didn’t want some bimbo working for me that just wanted to sleep her way up the ladder. No this woman though easy on the eye, she looked ready to earn everything and I was ready to give her the chance.       Kate POV As I closed the door, I felt a wave of relief, he’d been so handsome and intimidating. My thoughts were then interrupted by Megan. “Doesn’t Mr Worth just turn you on?” Megan winked. “But really, how’d you go?!” She asked, smiling broadly. “I think I f**k it up..” I said awkwardly with a shrug. “Damn, well between you and me.. you never know with him and the competition isn’t exactly fierce today.” Megan says gesturing to the waiting room, where 6 movie star looking women sat looking bored. “Yeah no competition at all…” I reply, unconvinced. I thank Megan for her hospitality, they have me details so I inform her that I must go, truth be told I knew I wouldn’t get the position. Once out of the building, I crossed the street heading to the Atm. I withdrew $100, my heart squeeze upon seeing $32 had been withdraw from my afterpay of a set of towels and linen’s I’d bought and I suspected Tom had taken with him. I’d only realised in the night and felt betrayed further, I would say something to him. I promised myself I’d be careful with my money and only buy this weeks groceries. But thinking about the way I’d lost another opportunity to improve my life, I bought myself a coffee next door and sat down, watching as the traffic passed in front of Kidman towers.   Jack’s POV I pressed the office intercom to Megan’s desk. “Megan please come in, and bring candidate 7 with you.” I cut it off before she could reply. The last candidate had just left, her impression leaving me feeling slimy, after she had indication that she’d sleep with me here, in the office, for the position. I shook the thoughts away, I wanted to shower as soon as I got home tonight. Knock knock. “Come in!” I called, straightening as Megan entered, I watched behind her but no one followed. “Where is candidate 7?” I asked coldly, annoyed to be kept waiting, I tapped a pen on my desk expectantly. “Well Sir, She felt she didn’t do well in the interview and left shortly there after.” Megan explains, with upturned palms of apology. I pursed my lips, well I definitely knew how to choose them, defiant and insulting. “Give me her contact sheet.” I say sternly, Megan flusters to find the woman’s form, on the clipboard she is holding, than hurriedly passes to me. I read it, then look up to the frightened looking Megan she’d worked for me 3 years and still feared my mood swings. “She was the woman we bought the couch off?” I asked, Megan nodded. “Another surprise it seems..” I mutter, I eye the form, waving for Megan to leave, which she does quickly. I dial the written number into my office phone, listening as it rings.   Kate POV I sat at the coffee shop staring into my almost empty coffee, a waitress walks up smiling, I make to move I know I’ve over stayed and there are other people waiting to sit down. “Hey don’t get up.” She smiles brightly, causing me to pause in surprise. “I get off in 10 and you look like you’re having a tough day, so am I, would you mind if I came and sat with you.” The girls smiles, my heart flutters, I could really use the company. “Yeah, I’d like that, My names Kate by the way.” I smile. “Nice to meet you Kate, my name is Samantha, call me Sam.” She says, she slides a plate of biscuits onto my table. “So it looks like you’re still ordering and I’ll get you a free refill of coffee.” She explains politely before taking away my empty mug. Suddenly my mood improves at Samantha’s kindness, and time can’t go fast enough, I could use a friend right now. It’s in that moment my phone rings in my bag, I reach down retrieving it, I frown at the screen it’s a landline but I don’t recognise the number. I press answer, and hold it up to my ear. “Hello, Miss Jenkins Speaking.” I say politely, was there another bill due. “Miss Jenkins, it’s Jack, Jack Worth.” A husky voice said on the other end, I straighten. “Mr Worth, hello, how can I help you?” I say nervously. “You’ve got the job, I would like to see you here 7am tomorrow morning, my office.” He says boredly, my heart flutters, I got the job. “Yes sir, I’ll make sure to be there.” I confirm. “Good, please wear today’s outfit again, it’s very smart and I like the colour..” He says smoothly, something about his voice makes me blush, but I also felt relief, I had nothing else that compared to this. “I will sir.” I reply. “Where are you at the moment?” Mr Worth asks catching me off guard. “I’m at the coffee shop across from your building actually.” I say, nervous again. I hear a chair squeak, then a few footsteps. “Ahh I see you down there… nice boobs.” He chuckles, I gape at the phone, looking up, the sun blinds me and the windows glare reveals nothing of the 13th floor from here. “Perv..” I mutter, Mr Worth must have heard me, as I hear him chuckle again. “Have a wonderful coffee Miss Jenkin’s, I look forward to working with you…” He says in a smooth confident voice. “What if your comment just now, changed my mind?” I say boldly, I hear a scoff of surprise, egging me on. “What if I decided just now, I don’t want to work for you.” I wait as only silence can be heard on the other line, I’m becoming nervous I’ve gone to far, when I hear a bing. “It’s too late for that Miss Jenkins, I’ve transferred 1 month’s pay into your account, so you are mine for the period of time, as I said I’ll see you tomorrow.. 7am.” His voice is smooth and smug, leaving me feeling shocked and speechless. He hangs up before I can answer; I stare at my phone like a foreign object for a long moment. “Hey I’m finished! I’ve got your coffee and my own.” Samantha cheers interrupting my thoughts, I look up still gaping, Sam frowns in concern. “Are you ok? You look shocked?” She says, I nod. “Yeah, I-I got the job, even though I made an i***t of myself in the interview.” I say dumbly, Sam grins. “That’s fantastic! Congrats!” She smiles, than she smiles a little dimly. “Is there somewhere you have to be now then?” She asks. Now it’s my turn to smile. “No where but here drinking a celebratory coffee!” I cheer; Sam nods enthusiastically as she pulls out a chair. We chat for the afternoon, she tells me about some of the horrible customers she’d had for the day and how she’d only recently moved to area and was still trying to make friends. When I asked what made her come speak to me, she said I looked sort of gorgeous but something about me felt approachable. We sit until long after the coffee’s dried up and the afternoon getting late, it turns out I live only a few buildings up from her, so we agree to walk home together.
