Theodore’s sudden interest in me and his pointed questions about what Liam and I were talking about this morning have me on edge. Every glance he throws my way feels like an unspoken question, and it’s starting to weigh on me.
The drive back to the beach house is peaceful on the surface. The group chatters lightly, reliving moments from the day, Sebastian’s daring jumps into the river, Emily’s dramatic shriek when a fish brushed her leg, and Greg’s endless attempts to outdo Mark’s cannonballs. I try to join in, laughing at the jokes and adding my own comments, but my mind is elsewhere.
