Payton walked out the library a bright smile on her face. After receiving a phone call from Dahlia asking where she was and where she could find them the girl got off the floor.
Even though she couldn’t stop smiling at all nor stop thinking of that one girl.
She walked up to the field, from afar on a large tree she noticed her friends seated and having a joyous time. Not wanting to rush a single thing she took her time walking, she kept studying all her surroundings and almost everything made her smile.
Maybe it was the fact that she made up with Zelda, or the day just seemed happy so she was also happy.
Payton finally approached her friends, then took a seat on the ground right beside Tina. The other girl turned her head a bit facing Payton. Immediately she furrowed her eyebrows, “What are you all smiley. Something happened in the library?” she asked, the question got the rest of the group’s attention.
Payton vigorously shook her head rejecting the accusation. “No!” she shouted, her friends looked even more suspicious. “Just excited about tomorrow’s class.” she added trying to clear herself and actions up.
Amber looked the girl up and down that’s when she noticed Payton didn’t bring some with her. “If you say so, where is your book?” she asked titling her head slightly to the side.
“Book? For what?” Payton looked confused completely forgetting where she went and what she went to do.
“The one you left us to go borrow for tomorrow.” Dixie pointed out reminding the other girl, everyone hummed in response waiting on Payton’s answer.
She got so caught up with Zelda that she did not at all have time to check out a spell book, more less look for it. When she was about that’s when Dahlia phoned her. The thing is she could easily just tell them she was with Zelda and they would put two and two together, so they wouldn’t stop asking which she didn’t want.
So she was only left with one option, to lie. “Oh that... Uh I didn’t borrow a thing.” she spoke nervously looking to the ground they sat on.
“Why is that?” one of her friends asked, more suspicious then before. They almost looked at her like they knew she was hiding something— or maybe they did know.
Payton sighed before looking up from the ground. “It was hard for me to choose one, so when you called I just left.” she explained, which wasn’t all a lie.
Amber huffed before crossing her arms in front of her chest, glaring at the girl who ran away from her help. “I told you, you should have waited for my help— or not have ran away.” she spoke clearly annoyed.
Payton bit her tongue not to burst out laughing right now. As she ran away she thought Amber would have let it go, apparently the girl did not. “I guess I should have listened.” as soon as she spoke she bit down on her lip holding back her laughter.
Amber actually noticed her silly attempt not to laugh, she just rolled her eyes wishing she would slap the laughter away.
“So what are we doing here?” Payton asked pointing where they sat, under the same tree they sat on her first Saturday here.
“Just relaxing because we have nothing in mind.” One of them answered her as everyone went back to how they say, most were laid on the ground resting their bodies on the green grass.
“Okay cool.” she mumbled before laying down on the grass as well. A cool fresh breeze passed by them causing the grass and left to move, in prefect and peaceful harmony with the passing wind.
She couldn’t help but feel relaxed as she watched. From the tree a purple petal flower fell to her face. Instantly the thought of flowers brought in the image of Zelda and her flowery scent, a large smile grew on her face as she played with the petal in her hand.
Dahlia noticed her friends lack of attention to their conversation and the un missed wide smile. Poking Payton out of her imagination she asked, “Okay Payton why you all smiley now?”
Just like Payton she denied it shaking her head to the sides, shouting a ‘no’. “What I’m not.” she rose her body, her elbows supporting her.
She tired holding a stern face as she glared at Dahlia but slowly a smile creeped it’s way through. “See you can’t even hold a straight face.” Dahlia hissed not wanting to deal with that now or anytime soon.
Payton wiggled her eyebrows playfully. “Because I’m not straight, this is a gay face.” she shoved her face in her friends personal space.
“Cause this is a gay face.” Dahlia mimicked mock full, not even close to how she sounded.
Keelin got their attention as he loudly clapped his hands. Once they all looked his way he opened his mouth to speak. “I think Avery has something to do with the smiley Payton.” he spoke directing their attention to Avery, who was disagreeing with a head nod so was Payton.
Tina chose to ignore both the reason of the story and foolishly carry the conversation further. “Yeah I’m with you. Finally left the s****l frustration, feels good doesn’t it.” she winked at her friend.
“We are not talking about that!” Payton stated ignoring the winks Tina and Ralph were sending her and Avery’s way.
“Oh baby, yes we are.” Dixie joined in the conservation that all her other friends were dying to hear all about it. As if Payton would tell a single detail.
“So Dahlia how did it go with Hayley.” she changed the subject even though they were all groaning at her, annoyed.
Being asked that question brought a smile on Dahlia’s face. “Just prefect!” she squealed happily thinking of Hayley at that moment.
Their friends groans stopped now fully invested with the new rose subject. “So THE Dahlia Quinn is finally tied down?” Jaan asked as he as well smiled, not any of them thought they would see the day she would date again— it had need so long.
Dahlia nodded, “For life!” her smile grew much wider.
“Now only these four are left. When will you guys settle down?” Amber asked looking at the four only singles in a group of nine.
“I’m eighteen!” Payton shouted glaring at Amber, so did the other three. “She didn’t say marriage!” Dixie defended resting her head on Amber’s shoulder as they were hand in hand.
“Well it sure sounded like it.” the four shot back but in a bit calmer tone, and their glare toned down at least.
Amber huffed, “Fine, when will you guys start dating?” she rephrased her question. Patting her girlfriends hair she placed a kiss on her forehead, gaining a blush from the girl.
Payton faked gagged sticking her tongue out only to annoy them. Amber ignored her and just continued.
“When the time is right.” Tina finally answered the question Amber asked.
“That could be years!!” Keelin and Jaan looked at her shocked, they knew their friend would wait a long time for the ‘right time’— it didn’t even exist.
Tina brought her arms behind her head nodding like she heard the sweetest melody. “Exactly..” she seemed proud of, so they just stared at the girl smirking at herself.
“As for me, I’m never settling down!” And that was Ralph’s ridiculous answer, he too seemed beyond happy with it.
Payton turned her head to his direction, “That’s just impossible.” she told him— it wasn’t all a lie though.
“It’s so not, why settle for one when you could have a different girl each night. A new experience.” he gave himself a wide smile like he just said a mind blowing fact, which from his friends reacts was not in the slightest.
Avery nudged him to shut up and stop smiling because it was foolish. “Dude no. With one girl you could have so many positions experienced, that’s phenomenal.” she wiggled her eyebrows at him as she suggested or stated.
“It gets boring!” he whined.
Payton disapproved, “Not when you are in love and gay.” she said, in the background all the gays hummed in agreement.
Here it went again, the because I’m gay reason they always gave him. “What’s with gay being a reason to everything. What’s the agenda?” Ralph asked.
Jaan cleared his throat, “Just simple. Everything is just prefect because you 100% understand eachother.” he explained— Keelin besides him gave him a huge peck on the cheek.
“But—”
Dixie cut him short not giving him time to explain or ask. “Because you have what they have, you understand it to the level the opposite gender can’t. In bed it’s immaculate.” she emphasized then made a kissing sound as she finished.
Almost everyone on the group proudly agreed with yes or loud hums. The boy gave up he coul never win in an argument with any of them. “Fine everything is fun when you are gay.” he stated.
“If you can’t bet them join them!” Avery shouted chuckling.
“That’s our good boy!” the ones closet to him messed up his hair playfully, Ralph glared at all of them as he ducked them and their destructive hands.
The nine teens sat around eachother laughing and exchanging stories, one after the other. That was their group thing.
