Right after she had breakfast with all her friends, Payton excused herself for a bit to go roaming in the library for spells books.
She walked down the path heading to the library, once she reached her destination she pushed through the wooden doors.
From the entrance to the library Payton immediately made her way up the stairs to the second floor. While studying each section name she kept searching for the spells section.
As she got closer to that section no other than Zelda stood in front of her browsing to through the books. Like the fool she was she walked up to the girl.
“Funny seeing you here.” she spoke once she got in Zelda’s hearing range, enough for her not acknowledge her presence.
Zelda looked up to the girl before her eyes roamed around where they stood. “In the spells section?” she asked in a bored tone, obvious enough for Payton to realise the girl didn’t want to have a conversation.
Payton tilted her head to the side a bit, looking at the girl in total amusement. “Come on...” she pleaded clearly refering to her earlier tone.
“What Payton!” the girl hissed, just about to walk away. Payton quickly grabbed her by her arm stopping her. “It wasn’t your leg I broke.” she tried her best not to laugh as the words rolled off her tongue.
“I know that.” Zelda glared from her arm on hers to her eyes, directly. Payton quietly let go of her standing straight she opened her mouth to speak, “He broke my arm too.” she moved her ‘injured’ shoulder.
“And how’s that working out for you.” Zelda asked pointing to her clearly healed shoulder, and capable joint.
“Just perfect!” the girl smiled brightly showing off her shoulder, moving it up and down.
Zelda rolled her eyes looking even more bored. “So typical..” she whispered.
Payton saw the sternness in her face and voice. She sighed before opening her mouth to respond, “I’m sorry if it means so much to you, sorry.” she apologized.
“I don’t need the apology, you don’t need to apologize to me.” Zelda stated referring to her injured boyfriend.
At first Payton though she was joking so in response she broke out in laughter, untill she realised she wasn’t laughing with her.
Her bright and joyful face was soon replaced by a stern bitter face. As she looked at Zelda, her face still showed she didn’t believe Zelda would be asking her to do that. “No way in hell by the way that’s where we’re both going, me and Cade. Will I, Payton Kent the living thing from Habiba and Nathaniel, apologize to that poorly god complex little boy with a tiny p—”
“Okay okay I get it, shut up you won’t apologize, I get it.” Zelda shouted cutting the girl short before it could get more uncomfortable. Payton held a teasing smile, nervously Zelda bit down on her left hand nails. “By the way it’s not tiny.” she mumbled looking to the floor.
Payton pressed her lips together as both her eyebrows rose. Placing her hand behind her left ear she leaned closer to Zelda. “Huh did I hear it right? Did you actually—”
“Oh let it go!” Zelda hissed looking back to the girl with a face that warned her not to even dare, carry the topic further.
Payton backed away her arms offering a shelter from the anger girl. Her arms still doing that she placed a comment, “Fine. But I can do way better.” she bluntly stated.
Zelda looked at her at first shocked then her features changed to amused. “Oh really?” she asked with a smirk on her face.
Payton looked her up and down before biting down on her lower lips teasingly. “Yeah really I can show you right now.” she smirked when Zelda’s facial expressions changed.
“Don’t... At all.” she took a huge step back and held out one arm preventing Payton from taking any steps towards her.
“Why, do you think I can’t get you there?”
Zelda shook her head disagreeing, “Not saying that you can’t I mean look at you, I see why Amanda is crazy over you.” as she pointed out she waved her arms all over the place. It wasn’t untill she thought about what she just said that she realised what it meant.
Zelda bit down on her index finger as she waited on how Payton would respond. “Did Zelda Dacre just admit to liking me?” the other girl teased as she playfully wiggled her eyebrows.
“What me, no... No, yeah no.” Zelda stuttered, feeling as though the room was getting warmer by each second Payton stared at her.
“Okay we’ll go with the ‘no’ for now.” she sit quoted the no, saving it for a later time.
Zelda breathed out in relief, “Thank you.” she finally relaxed.
“Well you’re welcome.”
They awkwardly stood in silence both tongue tied, Zelda hugging tightly the papers in her arm and Payton looking to the floor.
Zelda cleared her throat gaining Payton’s attention. “So what are you doing in this section.” she asked breaking the silence.
“Looking for spell books to study. We have a magic class tomorrow, so I’m going to be around you all morning babe.” once she finished speaking she gave Zelda an innocent smile.
The other girl rolled her eyes, “First off don’t call me babe again, and second you should start with simple books but never never use Zeta’s spell book. Like you would ever find it, but don’t.” she warned her, even if she did the book would not be risked to be kept in the library, that would be too much power for a single witch.
“Then why tell me about it, now I want to see it.” Payton whined, over exaggerating.
“Because if you come across it don’t, it’s full of black soul corrupting magic.” nothing good ever came from that one spell book, keeping it away gave them a peace of mind, at least.
“That sounds fun!” Payton squealed annoying Zelda once more with her child like behaviour. “Of course you would say that.” Zelda murmured.
Payton chuckled, as her eyes trailed down her body she once again noticed the papers, and thought it was best to ask. “So what do you have there.” she pointed to the bunch of papers she was hugging.
“Oh these, posters for the singing competition on Monday night...” unsure Zelda looked down to the papers checking the date. “No Tuesday night.” she covered herself.
“Why would a supernatural boarding school host a stupid singing competition?” Payton questioned, not that she had a lot of experience with supernatural schools, she just thought it was not supernatural enough.
“For fun, plus it’s really exciting. And we are all a bit of teens, these things are exciting.” Zelda explained to her as she kept smiling.
Payton looked to the ground before she shrugged uncomfortably. “I don’t know never been to one.” she mumbled looking a bit shy on it.
“Really??!” she asked in disbelief, it came out more of a scream.
“Yeah ‘really’, what’s the big deal.” she air quoted less enthusiastic about it, then Zelda who could not stop smiling.
It seemed the more Payton spoke her smile grew even wider, the girl had an idea in mind. She slowly walked up to Payton untill there were barely any inches between them. “You are missing out. You should like sign up, aren’t angels good at singing.” she suggested giving Payton a pout.
Payton held her breath as Zelda’s flowery scent filled her nostril, she could literally faint in the moment and she would go happily. Payton took in a deep breath inhaling her soft lovely scent before she opened her eyes again.
The girl looked down on the other instantly locking eyes, she held her breath again, the closeness was killing her. “Way to live up to the stereotype Zelda.” she tried her best to to let her voice break, even though by the second her legs were growing weaker.
“Oh come on I know you can sing.” Payton shrugged, she did know pretty well her mother taught her and she got her mother’s lovely singing voice, not her father’s horrible one thankfully. Zelda smiled which sent a warm feeling through Payton’s entire body, “See. Do it for me, please....” she begged.
Payton would be lying if she said yes to have fun or win, yes she was planning on saying yes for only Zelda. “Fine but don’t you dare tell any of my friends. I’m gonna blow them away with my performance, and you too babe.” she gave Zelda a cocky smirk.
“Then I can’t wait.” Zelda returned the smirk. She then later took a couple of steps back, instantly Payton missed her presence. The girl looked looked down to her wristwatch once she noticed the time she frown. “I have to go though.” she told Payton still frowning, she was enjoying her time around Payton.
“Wait before you go.” Payton stopped her right on time, still holding herself together.
“Yeah?” Zelda turned back, giving Payton a wide smile. Payton held out her right arm spread out towards Zelda, “Friends?” she spoke smiling back at her.
Zelda took it firmly shaking her hand, “Sure friends!” she spoke happily then with that she turned and left.
Once she was out of view Payton dropped to the floor, laying down facing the ceil. “Women!” she groaned even though she wanted to jump so high, but her body was too weak at the moment.
She stood so close, had not one but three different conversations with Zelda and the girl touched her, she was overwhelmed.
