Daylight came around faster than what the two girls expected. Tangled in each other’s embrace under the covers they were still knocked out cold. Payton slowly began opening her eyes, the light of the morning burnt her delicate eyes which led to her head throbbing in pain. Payton tried rolling but the body pressed on her prevented any sort of escape. Still half asleep Payton tried moving the body but she ended up accidentally hitting her hand against the hard wall. “s**t!” she hissed as pain shot through her arm. The common she caused made Avery flinch in her sleep. “So much noise..” the girl mumbled in her sleep, as her hand popped Payton in the face. Payton in an attempt to flip her hand off noticed that Avery was naked on top of her, and their legs were intertwined. “Ah Avery.” the girl swallowed down the lump in her throat, all the images of yesterday filled her mind. “Hmm..” Avery hummed in response as she tucked herself away in the soft covers and the warm body under her. “I think you should wake up.” Payton whispered nervously as she looked down on Avery. Payton’s voice rang through the sleepy girl’s ear, Avery jerked up finally alarmed. “Wait Payton!” she shouted as she jumped off the girl carrying covers with her in the process. Avery’s eyes trailed down her naked body she covered herself with the covers. “Why am I naked?” she asked looking up from her to find a naked Payton trying to cover herself with the pillows. “Why are you naked!” she snapped her head to the right avoiding looking at Payton. “I think we might have..” she cut herself short looking everywhere but on Avery. The girl shook her head running her fingers through her hair nervously. “No no... What the f**k did I just do.” she whispered under her breath. Payton cleared her throat gaining Avery’s attention. “You should like share me the covers.. it’s uncomfortable here.” she pointed to the single pillow covering her essential. “s**t sorry..” she passed the end of the cover towards Payton as she sat down beside Payton. The two of them sat on the bed facing Dahlia’s empty made bed, Payton cleared her throat before breaking off the silence. “We should talk ... About this.” she motioned her finger between them. “I don’t like you!” Avery blurted out, after so long of holding in her breath she finally breathed out. “Well thanks for letting me know.” Payton said sarcastically as she rolled her eyes. Avery shook her head in disapproval, “No I mean like those feelings for you, I don’t like you like that... You know like—” she stopped talking when Payton broke off laughing. Her laughter died down and all she was left was to face a confused and annoyed Avery. “Chill Avery I don’t like you either.” her face fell a little which caused Payton to feel a bit panicked, and try to correct her words. “Like that, I do like you but not like a crush way but I do love you as a friend.” she clarified. Avery broke off laughing, “You need to calm down too.” she lightly punched Payton on the shoulder still giggling. Payton laughed nervously rubbing the back of her neck. “So about this we can like say it’s closure.. I don’t want anything between us to change.” she spoke looking over to Avery. Avery agreed with a head nod, “Exactly we needed this to close that chapter in our life.” she smiled at Payton as she spoke, a smile which Payton returned. “So friends and no hard feelings.” she held out her hand. Avery did the same then shook her hand with a smile. “Friends and no hard feelings.” she repeated the words. The girls broke off their handshake. “Let’s go eat I’m starving.” Avery agreed with a head nod. They got off the bed immediately getting dressed before heading out the door. The moment the door opened and Payton took a step forward she ended up on the ground with a loud bang. Looking at what tripped her she saw Ralph grinned widely which made Payton slightly pissed. “Where do you think you’re going lover girl.” he spoke in a rather teasing tone. She sat up that’s when she noticed all her other friends seated on the floor resting their backs on the walls. But Avery was standing leaning against the door frame. “Did you have to trip me and not her.” she spoke pointing to where Avery stood smiling down on her holding back her laughter. Ralph shook his head vigorously, “Yes, yes I did.” he smiled brightly. Payton sighed before she got off the ground standing right beside Avery. “Why are you sitting out here anyway.” Avery asked looking at all of them. “We were waiting for you too to awake up.” Dahlia spoke up before she gave both of the a wink. “So how was yesterday. Don’t say it was bad.. we know you had a good time.” then she winked again. Payton cleared her throat before changing the subject to something more comfortable. “I’m starving shall we go eat.” she spoke, but no one agreed but Avery. “Yeah I could eat.” Her hand in hers she looked over at Avery ignoring all the glares from her friends. “Then shall we m’lady.” with those said the two girls walked away from their friends. Through out the whole time as they had breakfast Avery and Payton kept ignoring their questions. Untill Payton overhead some girls conversation that involved her and Avery. How did she know they kept stealing glances from their table. Payton dropped her fork in her plate then looked up to her friends. “I have a question, why do they keep looking here?” she asked at random. “You two are the talk of the town.” Tina pointed out as she kept on eating her breakfast. “Of the campus.” Ralph corrected her giving her a smug face, annoying the hell out of Tina. “Why?” Avery asked taking her eyes off the plate. “You’re the hottest duo!” Keelin squealed, giving both the girls a bright smile. “What do you mean?” it seemed not only were Payton and Avery clueless but so was Dahlia on the issue. “Next time when you’re making out be discrete.” “They won’t be a next time.” Payton stated firmly not wanting to repeat herself on the issue at hand. “So it was a one time thing?” The friends asked puzzled looking between the girls back and forth. Avery and Payton both agreed by shaking their heads. “Yeah that.” they murmured carrying on with their breakfast. Untill a loud voice of someone they didn’t like at all shouted before her hands creeped up on their shoulders. “Hello loves. So I just heard you two did the thing, next time don’t leave me aside. And roommate come to your room and sleep.” Amanda spoke as her head was between the two girls. She was annoying the rest of the group as well as she kept talking, most of all Tina. Off guard she placed a peck on Avery’s cheek. When she was about to peck Payton the girl held out her hands in front of her face, blocking Amanda. “I’m kissaphobic.” she spoke as she shook off her arm. Payton turned back to her friends completely ignoring her existence. “So..” she began taking but cut herself when Amanda dramatically stormed off. The whole group of friends broke out laughing at what they had witnessed. She was completely embarrassed and rejected, exactly what she needed Tina thought. “How does it feel to graduate from dry town.” Amber brought up a new topic, intentionally to annoy no other than Payton. The whole friend looked at Payton with smugged faces. Payton faked a laugh playing with her fork. “Not funny.” she said nonchalantly. Avery nudged Payton lightly, “It is though. Was it good?” she asked before throwing in a wink. The girl looked to the ground pressing her lips together, as laughter of her friends rang through.
