The first whiskey does nothing as it burns down my throat. The second one makes the city blur just enough to keep me from thinking too much. Even if just for a little while. I loosen my tie and stare out at Seattle’s skyline from the rooftop bar called H. Vantage. It’s the kind of place people like me go to hide in plain sight. No cameras. No amateurs. No Kara. After work, I’d sent her home without me—something I noticed she was relieved about—and came here to get some fresh air. It was either that or break something.
