“Eveline”, come see this”.
I race ahead stomach lurching to we’re my brother stands in front of the tv his mouth agape in shock. I gasp looking at the tv more horrors. There white eery black dead eyes and hands reaching to tear into flesh.
“What’s this”, I gasp in shock.
“More Zombies I told you there were zombies”.
I shake my head moving away from the screen and hastily push my brother away.
“We shouldn’t be watching this”, I hiss.
He looks at me wide eyed “
“What?”,ask”.
“Behind you”, he gasps out.
I hear a loud groan and somebody shuffling outside the front door.I edge closer to the door, hiding us behind a couch. I hold my breath, and slowly I began to peek through the window on the red wooden door, and I nearly had a heart attack. The decomposing face appeared diluted eyes peering inside, they were empty milky white.
I gasped holding in my scream racing backwards. Knocking my brother Maley over, as I hear the zombie bang against the door, it keeps banging and the sight of it made me want to vomit, I knew the only way we were getting through this was surviving.
“It’s gonna bring the others”, my brother whispered eyes wide open in fear.
He crouched behind the couch pale skin and looked at me and the door which was shuddering against its weight as the bangs got louder and louder until I was positive the door would burst open.
“Whose banging?”, mothers horse voice screamed.
Heart pounding and mouth dry I tried my best to talk but I couldn’t I was rooted to the spot.
“Go go go get stuff to put against the door”, my brother hissed.
“I know what to do”, I lied guilty.
Mother came in and looked at us annoyed.
“Stop the banging”.
Her eyes widened in confusion when she saw us both rooted to the spot and then she looked at the door and screamed falling down.
“Mum”, Maley called frightened rushing to help her up.
I rushed too, both hauling mum up by her shoulders gently.
“Good heavens oh my gosh what is that horrid sight”.
“The infected”.
“Infected?”, mother Horsley whispered sweat beading her forehead.
I don’t know what to say so I give a terse nod my body feels numb all over.
Her face is blank and pale and she starts shuddering my brother looks at me scared.
I hate how he looks at me for reassurance when all I can do is tell him the world was going to s**t.
“Everything is going to be okay mum”, I whisper, I hoped it would be.
“I’ll take her to her room”’.
My brother just looks at me seeming not to hear before he begins to put furniture against the shuddering door his pale arms shaking so hard I feared he would drop it.
Mum’s breathing is loud and noisy, filling the long narrow hallway. I shuddered at the relentless bang bang bang.
I’m sure he’s smelling us out I whisper with a shudder.
When mums in the room I help her back into bed gently she’s clammy and hot and I’m worried she may get a heart attack.
“Block the doors everline”.
I nod my brother rushing off to help me knowing our doom. We get as much stuff as we can pushing couches, chairs, and more s**t we can find against the wall.
The banging louder than ever and more shuffling sounds.
“Jesus there is a whole lot of them out there”, Maley panted beside me clutching his ribcage.
I didn’t dare look but from the sound outside I could imagine the amount of infected outside.
“We’re gonna have to wait it out maybe they’ll get bored and go home”, I said doubtfully.
But I couldn’t stop the impending doom I knew we were in, I didn’t want to voice it and scare my brother but I knew it.
We were trapped.
