Lord Russiavo’s Pov
I had been called to my company to go through some of the paperwork which my assistant could have handled but due to her being lazy I was stuck with going through some of the meetings myself. A knock came on the door as Shirley, my assistant, walked in with a smile on her face.
“You’re supposed to have handled all of this!" I gritted in anger.
“Sir,” she breathed. “I cannot handle the board. I tried sitting in for you but they said it was a disgrace and they were not going to be led by me even if you told me to do it.”
“What are you holding?” I asked, pointing to the files in her hand.
“Files from the Cornea project,” she answered, dropping it on the desk. “It took me a few weeks but I finally finished it.”
“I gave you this project four months ago. Why are you just finishing this now?!”
No words came from her as she kept mute. I could easily be the villain everyone saw me to be but I did not want to bring that life to the company.
I want the prospect here to be different from life at the mansion. Thinking of home, I remembered I had left home to be here with files instead of being with my new prisoner. I did not need to worry myself over anything for I knew my guards were more than enough to keep her.
My sides hurt as I winced in pain remembering that I had not taken care of the stab wound she had inflicted on me.
“Are you okay sir?” my assistant asked as I waved her off.
“I’d like to be alone for the rest of the day. And cancel any meeting I would have this week. Reschedule them till the next day.”
“What about the meeting with the vice president?”
“Are you deaf? Reschedule everything. Even if the angels were to ask for a meeting, tell them I’m out of commission!”
Shirley bowed her head before leaving. Then, I leaned back in my seat thinking of a way to make my revenge against the Vikram empire. I had kidn*pped his daughter and I was awaiting his next action.
He would beg me and I would enact my revenge against him. I wanted him to know that I could kill his daughter anytime I wanted. I wanted him to keep that I was not to be played with.
My phone rang as I picked it up to see it was from Alex. With a sigh I picked up the call to know why he was calling.
“It had better be important,” I grunted.
“I killed one of the maids,” he said as I banged my hand hard on the table.
“Why the f**k would you do that?” I asked terribly with the rage in me.
He responded, “She laid a hand on your prisoner and I had to set an example for her.”
“So you killed her?!” I yelled in shock. “What the f**k were you thinking?! How could you kill my maid because of a mere prisoner?!” I snapped all over and over again.
Alex waited for some seconds before he answered, “I apologize, boss. I only thought I was doing the right thing… because you said that I should kill whoever lays a hand on her and make sure everyone learns their lesson.”
“I meant that figuratively,” I leaned in my seat with my leg tapping aggressively on the floor. “What about maye?” I threw the question I had wanted to ask.
“She is not hurt.”
“Holster your weapons and don’t use it on anyone inside the house again,” I commanded with a sigh
“Yes si_”
I didn't let him finish his statement before I dropped the call and banged my hand on the table.
“I f*****g need a drink." I sighed, getting to my feet. Walking to the fridge, I noticed the elegant view my window gave me. I opened the fridge, got out a can of beer and downed it while looking out of the window.
I had picked one of the best spots for my company and I was not regretting it one bit. Alex was one of my most trusted men but sometimes he liked to take things too literal. I had forgotten to watch my words around him and now I was dealing with a dead woman in my house. Though, I didn't have to worry so much about the outcome. I knew he would know how to deal with it.
A call came to me again and I picked it up to see it was from the commissioner of police. Just like I expected. “Hello?” I called while drinking my beer.
“Good day. Alex called me to tell me what happened. Apart from the woman, is anyone else hurt?”
I had no idea what Alex must have told the officer but I was going to play his game. “I don’t know. I’m at the office. If you need more information then you should ask Alex.”
“I was calling to know if you would want us to take care of it,” he emitted and I shook my head like he could see me.
“Of course you should, just in case I start having the press coming after me. Just make sure it looks like an accident or something," I uttered.
“It will be done sir,” he assured me before putting off the call.
Tossing my empty can into the trash, I walked back to the window with my hands behind me.
I never said I was a good person nor did I say that I was a saint. I had done some pretty messed up things to people and I would keep doing that until my last days. The world was cruel and the only way for me to set my standard was to be as cruel as the world.
I used to be good, but after my brother's death I was not going to be as good as him. Saints died early in this world while sinners had immortality on their table.
He was the one I saw as my best friend but Vikram had taken that away from me. Anyways, he was going to pay with his life. I would play dirty just like him to get what I wanted even if I had to send him his daughter's head on a plate.
