Chapter 25Moment of Truth
Alex heard the familiar sound of Lisa's car pull up outside. Funny, she thought, how Lisa never seemed to have a problem finding a parking space within yards of her house. A now familiar frisson of excitement made Alex's skin tingle, though this time it was tinged with a hint of trepidation. She'd asked Lisa to come over deliberately in order to tell her the truth about her past, as the detective sergeant had advised her to. Now that the moment was drawing close, though, Alex was having second thoughts.
“Hi,” Lisa greeted her cheerfully, and Alex responded by putting both hands on Lisa's shoulders and drawing her close, before giving her a meaningful hug.
