[Val's Pov:]
I smiled and nuzzled my nose into my little sister's tummy, she laughed as it tickled. I decided to stop and stood up, helping her up. ''Mom can I go outside? I want to find something to draw, for my new picture, ya know?", I started. I really really want to draw these beautiful flowers I saw the other day, but I didn't get the chance", I added. So...can I please please please go?'', I said in a pleading tone while clapping my hands together. ''Sure just don't get back too long", she began. "I still need you to watch your siblings.'', she said. ''Mk, bye!'', I said. I slipped my shoes on and tied the aging laces as I walked out the front door with a grayish notebook and a green pencil, and a semi- chewed small eraser. I laughed and sprinted across the forest, wet dew drops dripping off the leaves of tall pine trees which reached past the top clouds in the light blue sky. It felt fresh, not stuffy and warm like the modern futuristic- like-cabin, but cool and lively. Wandering through the forest and the dusty path I had made as soon as I had discovered it, I lifted my head, not watching where my feet had stepped. ''Ah!'', I screamed tumultuously as my foot got caught in a puddle of heavy mud surrounded by fallen tree branches. ''I- Ow-'' I paused, trying not to alarm anything or anyone, and I didn't want to twist my ankle either. ''Argh what is it with this stupid-'' I began to grumble words under my breath that I suddenly couldn't understand. I reached for a dangling branch above me, trying to extend my arm any farther than how it already is. ''Ugh- come on!'' My fingers got a grip of the branch, encircled it, tightened my palm into a fist, and tugged it with my upper body strength. Some cold spring water poured onto my face from the spilled leaves above, hanging off the tree. I giggled exasperatedly. Soon, I saw a blinding light come from above. I looked up with wide eyes as I tried to loosen myself from the trap I was in. I breathed heavily. "Ugh!", I yelled in rage. The light began to grow wider and wider. I kicked and wriggled my hands profusely. "Help! Help! hel-", before I could finish I was sucked in by the massive hole above me. By the time I looked up I was in a completely new place. I got up and looked around as I tightly clutched my board. I looked down at my hands and the black fingerless gloves on them. I looked around and walked up and down the streets wondering where I was. I was in awe. I woke up in my bed, eyes large and alert while cold sweat dripped down my face and neck, leading to my wet stained shirt. What happened? I thought as I gazed out the window, studying each star carefully in the night sky. Quietly, I tipped my way into the hallway, trying not to wake anyone. My feet stepped over the creaky boards, as I had memorized the strange pattern and the location of each rickety wooden plank, again, not wanting to wake anyone. I swiftly opened the door to the cabinet and reached for a purple plastic cup, each color-coded for each family member. I tiptoed back to my room which I shared with my sister, and sat down in bed, covering myself with a thin sheet, in this somewhat warm night. Before laying down to rest my head on the pillow, I took a small sip from my cup of water, hoping nobody had heard me. It was just a dream... I told myself. I had a bad habit of second-guessing my own thoughts. Yeah... It was just a dream. I tried to reassure myself. But was it really ''just a dream''...?
