Ashna's POV
I felt weak upon hearing his rejection but I pretended that my strength didn't leave me. I need to be strong to protect my child especially now that I am in front of werewolves eager to kill me.
"Leave our territory and never come back because the next time you set your feet here, consider yourself dead," he coldly uttered. I didn't say anything but I could feel that my silence brought him fear.
After unleashing me I stood up and let out a deep breath before taking a step. I can feel my knees shake and I know I am on the verge of falling to the ground but I manage to step out of the hall while holding my tummy.
I felt relief when I was outside the assembly hall. I kept on looking back still hoping that he would stop me and he would take back his rejection but I already reached the woods and he didn't come.
I felt my knees getting weaker but I still forced myself to walk.
'Sierra I can't do this,' I talk to my wolf, and in a few seconds, my body fell to the ground.
I spit blood and I can feel my whole being getting weaker and weaker as seconds passed by.
"I can't," my vision got blurry, and in a snap, I felt my whole body fall on the cold ground.
'Is this our end?' Sierra asked and maybe this is indeed our end.
I don't know what happened but it seems like the Moon Goddess still hears my plea. I woke up with a familiar face in front of me.
"Mom?" I asked in a weak voice but instead of a comforting hug, I received a slap.
"If you only listen to me none of this should've happened!" she uttered and her voice was filled with anger.
After a while, my father stepped inside the room. He always has this authoritative aura that will make everyone instantly bow down.
"Look where that stupid head of yours gets you," he uttered mocking my decision.
"I'm sorry Dad," I responded with my head bowed down.
"You will pay for what you did,"
I started playing with my fingers to distract myself. I feel humiliated. I am a fool for believing that Tobias will accept me. I am a fool for choosing him and betraying my pack.
"From now on you are an omega and we disown you as our daughter. You will serve the whole pack in your entire life and once you leave this pack again we will hunt you down and get you killed, understand?" he asked.
Tears fell from my eyes. I swallowed the lump in my throat before nodding my head.
I never thought that the day would come when my father would treat me like this. He used to favour me and do everything for my happiness but now the man standing in front of me is not my father but an Alpha of Crimson Claw who is ruthless.
I can't blame my father for acting this way it's my fault anyway.
"Yes, Alpha Remus," this time I addressed him differently.
When I heard the door shut I lifted my head and roamed my eyes around the room.
It's too small compared to my old room. I softly caressed my tummy and smiled.
"We will be fine little one," I uttered trying to find light in this situation.
I was about to stand up when I felt unbearable pain run through my system.
"Ahhh!" I shouted in pain.
'What is happening Sierra?' I asked my wolf while holding my chest.
'Our mate must be sleeping with another woman,' Sierra responded, and upon hearing that a tear fell from my eye.
'It's painful,' I uttered with tears cascading down my face. It's not just emotionally painful but also physically.
I felt my body getting weak again. It feels like my skin is being ripped off my bones. I feel like dying again. It feels like I am rejected again.
'Make this stop Sierra,' I beg my wolf.
'Break the bond, Ashna,' she responded. My world stopped when I heard those. If I break the bond I will live mateless, my pups will lose their father.
'My pups,' I uttered with tears falling like waterfalls.
'That is the only way, Ashna, if you want the pain to stop then you should break the bond,' Sierra responded. I let out a deep breath and then nod my head.
"I, Ashna Refia, of Crimson Claw, reject you Alpha Tobias Wagner of Wild Midnight Claw as my mate," I uttered using my weak voice, and after saying those words I felt like a heavy burden was lifted from my chest. I felt relief and I felt alive but empty.
The pain is gone but I know something is taken from me. I was given peace but I felt empty.
'I'm sorry Sierra we will live mateless,' I uttered with a faint smile plastered on my face.
'Moon Goddess might give us a second chance mate don't lose your hope, Ashna,' she responded pushing me to hope for something that I know won't happen.
A second chance mate is not impossible but it's too rare. Only a few werewolves are given the chance to have a second chance mate and I doubt that I will be given that kind of blessing. Besides, I have no idea if I can bear having another mate after what Tobias has done to me.
***
Days passed by and rumours that I was disowned by my parents and now a slave of Crimson Claw Pack scattered like wildfire.
My pack started treating me differently. From a respected daughter of an Alpha to a worthless slave of Crimson Claw.
They made me feel like I am an outcast and I can't blame my pack because I betrayed them.
"Ashna tidy the kitchen once you are done folding the clothes!" a shout from Martina, the head maid of Alpha Remus enveloped my ear.
I let out a deep breath and then caressed my tummy when I felt something painful.
"We will take a rest after this," I uttered talking to my tummy.
I did what Martina told me. I cleaned the kitchen and when I was done I headed back to my quarter where I took a quick rest.
I lay on my bed with a thin mattress. I was about to close my eyes when I heard a knock on my door.
After a while, Lydia came in. I thought they would kill Lydia for helping me but I am glad that my father or should I say Alpha Remus showed her mercy.
"How are you feeling?" she asked. I sat on my bed and gave her a faint smile.
"Tired," I responded. Lydia sat on my bed as well and then caressed my tummy.
"They are strong," she uttered with a smile on her face.
Lydia has a great sense that's why she used to be Melissa's assistant. Her great sense of touch can easily determine a patient's health situation.
"They must have taken after their father," I responded and I could feel bitterness in my mouth.
Lydia held my hand and squeezed it.
"You won't tell him that you are carrying his pups?"
I smiled at her and then shook my head. "He doesn't deserve to know, after everything that he has done to me. I will raise these pups on my own no matter how hard it would get," I said full of determination.
"Have you talked to Alpha Remus and Luna Beatrice?"
"They disowned me. I am no longer their daughter Lydia, there is no point in talking to them," I responded, and while saying those words I could feel pain in my chest.
"They are just mad at you, I'm sure they will change their mind later on," she uttered giving me hope but I know better. I can no longer change their mind. I know they won't break their own words even if their daughter's life is at stake.
"As if you didn't know my parents. They are true to their words Lydia, once they say something they won't break it,"
Lydia let out a deep breath. I saw pity and sadness in her eyes.
"I'm sorry for what happened,"
Her voice is filled with regret as if she failed me.
"You don't have to I should be the one saying sorry after putting your life in danger, if Melissa didn't get an antidote I doubt they will let you live, why did you have to do such a risky thing?"
"Because you are my friend and you are my sister not by blood but by heart,"
A tear fell from my eyes when she said those words. It touched my heart and it is one of the most heartwarming words that I heard in my entire life.
"Thank you," I uttered with tears on my face. I pulled her into a tight hug and buried my face in her shoulder as I cried.
Our hug broke off when we heard sounds coming from outside.
Lydia and I looked at each other with confusion written on our faces.
We decided to step outside and upon stepping out of my quarter we saw a man bathed with blood and he looked like he was on the verge of dying.
"Who is he?" I asked Lydia and looked at her anticipating an answer.
"I don't know he smells different,"
We mixed ourselves with the crowd and when we were standing in front and took a closer look at him I felt something.
"Our hunters found this dragon roaming near our territory," my father spoke and grabbed the man's hair aggressively.
He is unconscious. I hear murmurs from the crowd.
"We can't kill him yet we have to know his reasons first, why did he dare to roam near our territory? In the meantime, he will stay at the dungeon until he can talk," Alpha Remus announced with finality and after that, he left.
After that announcement, everyone continued doing their work.
"He is not an ordinary dragon Ashna, I can feel his strength it is too powerful and it surpasses Alpha Remus," Lydia uttered while looking at the man being dragged into the dungeon.
"Dragons are usually stronger than werewolves Lydia," I told her but she shook her head firmly.
"This one is different. He is not an ordinary dragon Ashna, he is too powerful to be ordinary,"
"Why did he end up in that situation then? If he is strong like what you claimed why does it look like he is badly beaten up by our hunter," I asked doubting her words.
Lydia let out a deep breath and shook her head unable to answer the mystery that hides in the dragon's identity.
"I don't know,"
Instead of focusing on Lydia's words I decided to continue doing my work. I cleaned the attic where some of my mother's things are placed.
When I was done I climbed down and while walking around my old house the door of my old room caught my attention. I slowly walked towards it. I held the doorknob hoping to have a glimpse of my old room...my used-to-be life but before I could have a glimpse I heard my mother's voice.
"How dare you enter that room?" she coldly asked. I let out a deep breath and then bowed my head.
"I am sorry my Luna," I respectfully apologized.
"Leave if you are done cleaning," she sounded ruthless but I gathered my courage to look at her directly in the eyes.
A smile appeared on my lips when I saw my mother's strict face. Her eyebrows are furrowed while looking at me. Her lips are in thin lines as if she is almost out of patience. She looks older but her beauty is still there.
"I missed you, Mom," I blurted out unable to stop myself. I saw how her expression changed, she looked at me softly like how she used to look at me when I was still her obedient daughter. She was swayed for a while but after a few seconds, a hard slap landed on my face.
"Don't call me like that again or else I won't hesitate to kick you out of this pack,"
I immediately bowed my head. "I am sorry my Luna,"
She didn't say anything. We were enveloped by silence but after a while, I heard her walk away so I lifted my head to watch my mother's back disappear from my sight.
"It's okay Ashna," I told myself to ease the heaviness that I was carrying in my chest.
I felt pain once again but I was tired of crying so instead of overthinking things I headed back to my quarter to take a quick nap but after an hour, head maid Martina called me again.
"What is it, Martina?" I politely asked.
"You are assigned to deliver food to our prisoner,"
I looked at her confused upon hearing the task given to me.
"But-"
Before I could even finish what I was about to say she cut me off.
"Do what I say," she firmly uttered before leaving. She always gave me hard tasks. I am starting to think that she hates me.
I swallowed hard and felt scared. Now that I am pregnant I have to take extra care of my body but it seems like I have no choice but to expose my body to risks.
Holding a bowl of food I walked inside the dark hallway of the dungeon.
My steps are small because of fear.
What if this dragon attacks me? They say dragons are much stronger than werewolves. Aside from that they say that once a dragon sees werewolves they will kill them without any hesitation.
I swallowed hard when I heard a sound. The bowl that I was holding almost slipped from my hands.
Fear consumed my entirety when I saw a blazing red eye directed at me.
I didn't dare to take another step and placed the bowl a few steps from him. Without uttering any word I turned around ready to leave the place but his baritone voice stopped me.
"Stay," he commanded. Afraid that he might do something if I ignored him I decided to stop walking.
"D-Do you need anything else?" I asked fear evident in my tone.
He didn't bother to respond so I turned around. I gasped when I felt his hot breath. Our faces are now a few inches away from each other.
"H-How did y-you do that?" I asked confused about how he managed to break that huge and heavy chain tied around his body.
His manly laugh covered my ears.
"You think your pack can chain me here?" he asked sarcastically. I took a step backward but his movements were fast. He held my waist putting me in place.
"Where are you going?" he asked while his blazing red eyes were directed at me.
I swallowed hard when I felt my heart beating loudly against my chest.
"I-I have to l-leave," I nervously responded but despite saying that he was still holding me firmly as if he had no plan of letting me go.
"You want to know the reason why I am here?"
I gather my courage to look into his eyes. Curiosity consumed me so I nodded my head.
"I followed your scent and it brought me here,"
His response confused me even more.
"Are you my-" I wasn't able to finish my question because he cut me off.
"Yes Ashna, I am your mate,"
'Second chance mate is possible Ashna, Moon Goddess favoured you,' Sierra spoke on me.
"I am mated to a dragon?" I asked in disbelief while looking at the mysterious creature looking at me directly.
