I felt my body floating in the dark void, with stars and different planets surrounding me. A sight for sore eyes but I found nothing beautiful about it.
My eyes were glued shut yet I was aware of everything around me, from the cold chill crawling up my arm as someone touched me, to the echoing sound of some sort of machine.
My hand automatically caught the intruder's hand and snapped it without a moment's notice. I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings quickly.
I appeared to be in another hospital of sorts, but somehow this one seemed odd, starting with the screaming doctor. I glared at him hard for the ruckus before I realised why he was screaming. My hand was currently crushing his arm, squeezing it like a beer can to the size of a glue stick. Blood flowed from his broken arm with sharp white pieces of bones sticking out of his arm.
The nurse in the room screamed so loud it gave me a migraine.
"Please shut up!" I said low through gritted teeth.
I hated loud sounds.
Not to mention her disruption caused the voices in my head to come rushing back tenfold and annoy me once more. They were like a fungus I couldn't get rid of even if I tried everything.
The young-looking doctor fainted on the spot from the amount of pain he was feeling. The nurse fell to her knees and covered her mouth in absolute terror, her eyes bulging, sweat dotting her forehead and her heart beat racing out of control.
"Diablo!" She managed to say through her quivering lips.
I raised my brow, wondering what that meant.
Another thing I didn't understand about humans was the number of languages they had on just one planet. It was astonishing.
I looked back to the doctor on the floor whose hand I was still holding in a death grip. It appeared the man was attempting to stick some sharp object into my arm which resulted in it being bent from my hard skin. The object fell from the doctor's hand and made clustering sounds as it rolled around on the tiles.
I let go of his hand and instantly my hand was dry as a bone, with no trace of blood on me.
The nurse gasped so loud before she fainted on the spot. I felt nothing but irritation at the fact that humans were touching me without my consent. But on the bright side, I had such a wonderful sleep for the first time since I arrived on this absurd planet.
It nearly made me smile, an action humans did when they were pleased. I felt quite odd doing it as if my face was broken or something of the sort. I immediately dropped my so-called smile and gritted my teeth at my terrible attempt to be more human-like.
You're not human
Don't I know it.
Monster
One after the other the voices got louder and louder until they were screaming profanities at me.
I couldn't deal with them so I tried my best to keep my focus on one thing which was getting out of the hospital. When I stood up I appeared to be in a gown of sorts with nothing under it.
"Typical," I grunted under my breath.
Humans were truly revolting.
Before I could even get another step my body suddenly gave out under me. I gritted my teeth in irritation as my body hit the floor hard. Slow thick oozing liquid flowed from my nose, its colour vibrant red as it ran down my cheek from my nose.
As if things couldn't get worse, I was proven wrong. Another ear-curdling scream rang throughout the room as someone entered it. My eyes squinted hard as my head felt like it was about to explode. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't turn my head to check who entered the room.
"Someone call the police!" I heard a man's voice yell over the commotion.
Under my palm, I could hear the vibrations of footsteps nearing me.
"She's ok," said one of the nurses who saw my hand move slightly.
Another nurse went to examine the other two doctors on the floor. I exhaled hard, my breath icy cold as it created a blue bruise on the nurse's hand.
"Aahhh!" She screamed as she cradled her shaking hand.
The blue bruise spread throughout her arm at a rapid pace. The security guard and other nurses gasped at what was happening. The nurse's hand turned entirely dark blue before a sharp sound of glass breaking pieced everyone's ears.
Another human fainted in the room at the sight of the nurse's hand snapping off her shoulder and shattering into millions of little pieces. Blood sputtered out of her open shoulder blade, some blood splashing on my face. I licked my lips and relaxed at the exquisite taste of the metallic blood in my mouth.
Who knew humans had such delicious blood?
One of the security guards couldn't stomach what he saw as he puked his guts out on the floor, holding onto the door frame for dear life. I for one was heavily uncomfortable with so many humans looking down at me.
The nurse with the severed hand fell hard on her back and passed out. Blood pooled around her frame from her shoulder blade.
It didn't take more than a minute before sirens could be heard outside the building. I lay there on the floor unmoving as the police rushed into the room.
It was clear what they saw was something they had never witnessed before. They tried to make sense of what happened but even their puny brains couldn't put this together so they simply asked what happened and who did this.
No one had the faintest clue what to say let alone who did what and when. The guard was bubbling nonsense before he managed to say something that chilled the police to their core.
"The devils alive," the guard laughed maniacally as he began to bang his head against the door.
Humans, what a nuisance.
The police had no idea what to do as they examined the room. Not only one but two dying people lay on the floor in their blood along with two passed-out people, a nurse and a patient.
The police took the guard out of the room as he was the only awake witness. Other doctors and nurses quickly attended to the deeply wounded. I could feel my body being lifted and carried out of the room, I dared not open my eyes as I feigned unconsciousness. Not long before was I being placed on another hard bed in another room filled with other patients.
Hospital beds were lined against one side of the wall with the other side designed the same way. Many sick humans coughed and cried as nurses aided them, I for one felt my skin crawl in disgust at everything I could hear and sense. Whoever carried me to the bed began to fiddle with something next to me before they tried to insert something into my arm but to no success.
The needle did not go in and they tried again, forcefully jamming the needling into my arm. This only caused the needle to bend in an arc shape. The man gasped in shock before he called someone else over.
That's when I opened my eyes fully, the two humans assessing me gasped at the sight of me being awake. I blankly glared at them.
From there they just asked me so many stupid questions, no surprise I said nothing at all. They wondered if I was deaf which was comical but I didn't correct them. No surprise the nurse started using sign language to try and communicate with me.
I used sign language that Hannah taught me, which meant I didn't want anyone annoying me or near me. I put up my middle finger with a straight face and watched the nurse and doctor be taken back by the gesture before anger flooded their faces. They quickly stormed away and that was that.
Thanks, Hannah.
"What are you?" I heard an old man's voice ask on the other bed to my left.
I turned my icy cold glare towards him and he flinched slightly before he held his ground as if he wasn't afraid. Tell that to his soiled pants.
He looked to be in his seventies with a crazed manic look in his eyes. His hair, or what was left of it was snow white and faint. Pale skin dotted with brown tiny marks and missing teeth with eyes grey as a stormy sky.
I pondered over his question, no one has ever asked such a thing so it was oddly comforting to remember that I wasn't human.
"I'm your worst nightmare," I said, my voice painstakingly clear of my intention.
My canines enlarged as well as my sharp eyes glowed before the man. My only intention was to scare the man.
He trembled on the spot, shaking uncontrollable as he rocked himself on the bed.
"The devil is alive," he kept mumbling under his breath as he kept rocking himself back and forth as if he had lost his mind.
It nearly made me grunt out of amusement but I resorted to a content sigh before staring at the ceiling. It was clear my body wasn't fully recovered yet and who knew how long that would take to happen but until then I had to refuel quickly.
On the man's mini holder I saw a bowl of soup and an apple. At the sight of the apple, I remembered what Hannah once told me.
'An apple a day keeps the doctor away,' she had told me with a toothy grin as she munched down on a juicy apple.
I had no clue how such a small thing could keep a doctor away but I needed them away from me by whatever means necessary. I willed my weak arm to move but it felt like rubber and with my powers unable to work on my command I was at an impasse.
When my powers were back I would never take them for granted again.
It was around late in the evening when everyone had been set down to rest when a nurse came to help me eat something.
She brought some soup with some bread and an apple. All I desired was the apple but it appeared I had to have the soup before that. It's no surprise that I nearly killed the girl for not listening to what I desired, unfortunately, she only listened to words, not actions.
Curse her.
To be fair after eating the soup which was humiliating considering she had to feed me, I did feel somewhat better. The apple was truly the best fruit I've ever had and eating that was such a thrill and rush I wanted to feel over and over.
Its sweet juice filled my mouth before the colours burst in my mouth all at once. My toes curled at the succulent flavour dancing in my mouth.
I could feel something warm coursing through my body, from my toes to the top of my head and back down over and over. My fingers wiggled under my command and it only took a few more seconds before the rest of my body listened to my commands and moved. I sat up instantly and fisted my hands, testing my strength.
"Take it easy, you still need more rest before you can be fully recovered." The nurse chuckled at my enthusiasm for getting my strength back.
For once I listened to the nurse and laid back down, she covered the sheets over my shoulders and bid her good night before leaving with the rest of the nurses and doctors in the room.
I didn't need sleep nor did I want it so I lay there on the hard bed staring at the dark ceiling. My sharp eyes catching every detail in the dark with my glowing eyes as torches. It wasn't long before the sun rose again, thanks to the voices in my head. Time went by quickly.
I had the pleasure of having the same nurse tend to me in the morning as she brought me breakfast. She was a cheery woman with a tall figure, light complexion and pitch-black hair. Her eyes were an alluring hazel that drew anyone's attention.
She walked light on her feet as if she'd been doing this for years.
"How are we feeling this morning?" She asked me with a cheery smile that was too forced for my liking.
I silently observed her and wondered what she had in store for me.
"Still not talking huh?" She questioned with a slight chuckle that seemed forced as well.
I hated lies and fake people. What was the reason to be fake when you had such a short life span that could be ended within a matter of seconds?
I sat up as she gave me the bowel full of my breakfast, once again soup.
The nurse kept watching my every move and without even trying I could hear her twisted thoughts screaming one over the other. I gritted my teeth as I suddenly wanted nothing more than to twist her neck and watch her fall limb on the floor.
But I needed the stupid food to make my body function better so I gulped it down in one go. She looked surprised before a small smile graced her cracked lips, a small but genuine smile.
"What are you trying to do?" I asked her blankly, my voice sharp and sending fear into her core.
"What?" She asked, shaking on the spot.
Power radiated from me like heat and as a human, it overwhelmed all her senses and made her fear and respect me.
She took a step back, nearly tripping over her feet. Humans how easily predictable they were.
It seemed she couldn't take being around me anymore as she bolted for the door. The old man scooted away from me with shaking limbs as he begged for a nurse to move his bed.
My lips itched to move upwards but they dared not move from their permanent scowl. A few minutes passed or perhaps hours but I didn't care about the time, unfortunately, I was greeted with some visitors I didn't desire to have.
The door opened to show two muscular built men in green uniforms. They had authority coming off them in waves and walked with such dignity. One of the men had a jacket with many badges on the shoulders, a distinct scar could be seen across his left eye to his cheek.
The other guy had a smooth cute baby face or so Hannah would say. They headed straight for my bed, their heavy boots resonating throughout the room.
I could smell curiosity bouncing off them in waves, the scent of applewood filling my nose.
"Good day miss," the older man with the scar on his face began.
I nodded my head to show him I was listening to whatever nonsense he had to say.
"I believe your time here is up," he spoke once again, his voice deep and unwavering.
I raised my brow before I got out of bed, upon standing up I barely reached his chest which was a nuisance.
"It's about damn time," I grunted as I moved my hair over my shoulder the way Hannah showed me.
The younger soldier smirked, his gaze straight ahead as if he wasn't allowed to look at me. I respected a man with manners.
"Shall we then," the older soldier said as he extended his hand to the door, waiting for me to walk ahead of them.
I could hear their loud thoughts booming around the room, they were curious about me. The most prominent thoughts were what I was and how they could use me for their own purposes. I raised my brow at the ridiculous thoughts, at least they were on the right track about me not being human, no surprise there.
They led me out of the hospital after providing me with a change of clothes. Blue jeans, a light sweater and a plain black shirt, simple yet effective. I refused to wear shoes as I needed to feel the earth beneath me.
"Ladies first," the younger soldier said as he opened the car door for me.
I gave him an icy glare that made his heart skip a beat before I entered the car.
"So what's your name?" The older soldier in the front seat asked me with a crooked smile.
I blankly stared out the window, their thoughts and the voices in my head giving me a migraine I wished would end.
What's my name?
What's your name?
The voices posed a good question, what was my name?
