Once more I found myself floating in the abyss with stars all around me. A calm wave washes over me, one after the other.
‘It's all your fault’ Lily growled at the back of my mind.
And there goes those calm waves.
It's your fault
You did this to yourself
How weak could you possibly be?
How can the Goddess we know be so naive?
And there came the voices that just seemed to be the only people who knew who I was before I lost my memory. Too bad I wasn't one of their favourite people, so in short I would never get any help from them.
The peace of the stars could no longer keep my mind at bay before the sight before me began to shift like a static tv.
My eyes slowly opened at an agonising pace before they closed again. I tried with all my might to keep them up but my entire body was weak to the core and when my eyes finally stayed open I found out why.
I seemed to be in some undercover bunker lined with metal walls, it appeared to be some experimenting room with tools belonging to doctors. I was chained to some kind of metal bed in a vertical position, metal hooks kept me to the bed. One hook around my neck, one on each of my wrists, and one on each of my ankles. I was unable to move even if I tried as the metal hooks dug into my flesh painfully with each movement.
My head lolled to the side as it hurt to keep it up but to even do that hurt even worse as the metal hook around my neck dug into my flesh with its sharp edges. Before I stood a long pipe with a bag of liquid at the top of it that had a thin pipe attached to it. I followed the pipe and saw how it led into my skin. Suddenly I could feel the unbalance in my body as well as the metal in my arm allowing some fluid to enter my body.
The only time my body was ever fragile was when I was unconscious and because my powers were not back I was left defenceless. Whatever was entering my body was making me so weak, that I was unable to even move but there was a silver lining to the liquid.
Lila could not be heard as she was struggling to stay awake as well and not to mention the voices were as silent as ever which was the best relief ever. Though I could understand what the metal hooks were used for, I didn't quite understand what the ball stuffed in my mouth was for.
Suddenly as I tried to awaken any magic inside me, I heard heavy footsteps coming down the stairs. Just by his rancid scent, I knew who it was.
“Well lookie who’s awake,” Billy said with a hard cold smile.
I lazily dragged my eyes from the floor to meet his grey proud eyes, he seemed to be in a good mood.
“Just a little gift from my boss, he thinks you need to chill a bit,” Billy smirked as he looked at the long metal pole with the liquid that was entering my body.
My eyes were hard and calculating, I could tell he was affected by them but he tried to hide it.
“I have some questions for you kid and if you manage to answer all of them honestly then we might reduce your dosage.” He said in a sinister tone.
I wasn't a hundred per cent sure what dosage he was talking about but he seems to be negotiating with me. Wrong move buddy.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” He said before he carefully walked towards me as if I were a sleeping lion and he was my prey.
He quickly removed the strapped ball around my throat and jumped back as if I would bite him or something of the sort. I inhaled through my mouth heavily, gathering all my strength for a strike when the time came. To him, I just looked like I took a deep breath.
“First question, where do you come from?” He asked as he held a tiny remote in his hand.
I blankly met his eyes and when an awkward silence enveloped us he realised I wasn't going to answer. He sighed and pressed the button in annoyance, what followed next was unexpecting for me.
A huge surge of electricity entered my body and triggered a painful reaction throughout my body. I could feel Lily growling out in pain, I gritted my teeth and made no sound except for a low grunt. My organs screamed in pain but nothing they couldn't handle.
“Let's try this again, where are you from? And remember no answer is the same as a wrong answer and this is only the first level.” He said with a glare as he waved the small remote that had seven buttons on it.
I assumed the higher the number the more pain it causes, what a neat little toy. I needed that after I dealt with the man.
I should've never gotten myself into this mess no matter how bored I was. Here I was expecting a sweet change of scenery instead of being held captive because they want to discover what I am. Well, that's a tough one Billy, because even I don't know where I am from.
“Earth,” I barely said above a whisper which Billy didn't seem to catch as he leaned closer.
“You gotta speak a bit louder, love,” he said as he toyed with the remote in his hand.
“Earth,” I repeated louder.
“Are you lying to me?” He asked with a raised brow.
“Are you dumb or mentally unstable?'' I asked him instead out of irritation.
He gritted his teeth in anger before he pressed a different button that made me see stars. My body shook in agony, grunts escaped through my parted lips as I tried to keep back my screams. When the shocks stopped my body kept shaking as I felt something coming up my throat before I began coughing out blood that fell down my lips.
Another person came down the stairs and gasped at the sight before them, the sweet scent of oranges told me who it belonged to.
“Commander,” Sam said as he saluted Billy.
“What is it, soldier?” Billy asked in irritation.
“President Gregory is on the line waiting for you,” Sam said stoically without a hint of emotion on his face but his racing heartbeat told another story.
“God what does that prick want now,” he growled before he sighed heavily,” Fine deal with this creature and make sure she breaks before I come back.” He ordered Sam.
“Yes, commander.” Sam saluted as Billy left the room muttering something about an idiotic president and such.
Once the door to the bunker slammed shut, Sam relaxed and quickly ran toward me with a softened expression.
“Jesus Christ, what did they do to you?” He asked in shock as he tried to remove the metal hooks holding me in place only to fail as they did not budge.
“What are you doing?” I asked in irritation.
“Saving you, what does it look like?” He said sarcastically.
I scoffed as I felt my body wanting to shut down and when he noticed that he quickly looked at the pipe.
“This is going to hurt.” He warned me before he slowly pulled out the tube in my arm.
Slow hot pain seized my arm before the needle was removed from my body, instantly I felt my lungs expand gratefully. Without the tube feeding my body that poison, I could finally feel the strength return to me. Slowly my body began to extinguish the poison that was left in my body.
The top of my lip cracked up as I felt a surge of my power return tenfold bigger and better than before. Without a wasted moment, I breathed in and broke free from the metal hooks keeping me in place. I crushed the hook around my neck and removed the cap over my head hooked up to wires. Sam watched in shock as I tore everything in sight letting out my anger at being bested by the weakest creatures of all time, humans. I felt humiliated, so much that anger completely blinded me so much that I didnt even realise I was floating.
I unclenched my fists and looked at my hands and began to see the magic flowing through my body in the form of blue veins. Not all of my powers were back but to have so much of it flowing through my body once more was such a thrill that it brought a calming sensation over me. It felt as if all the noise around me suddenly disappeared and it was just me and mother nature once more as if all was right with the world. A feeling of ecstasy, a feeling of being whole again as if something that had been taken from you was returned.
It was an indescribable feeling that left me in control again, which also brought on a surge of anger. With my powers back I was able to dull out the voices shouting and howling in joy at having my powers back. Unfortunately not the same could be said for Lily who was making plans in her cage as if her escape plan was close.
I stretched my arms and twisted my neck to the side until it cracked and turned to the other side. I hadn't fully stretched in years and since my powers were back what better way to exercise them than in a completely discreet location full of soldiers or lab rats in this case. It was as if the gods were begging me to let all hell break loose and who was to deny what the gods wanted.
I turned my body in the air as my eyes landed on a flabbergasted Sam whose mind was trying not to shut down at the sight before him. The funny thing about human minds, if they saw something they could not comprehend they either went mad or shut down completely. It appeared Sam was trying his best to stay composed and it seemed to be working.
I lazily raised my hand and summoned a fireball that grew from the size of a pee to the size of a soccer ball in my hand. It aimed directly at Sam’s chest, I could barely feel the heat simmering in my hand. But to humans, it would easily melt through their flesh like paper dissolving in water.
Sam’s face dropped as he realised the situation.
“Thanks for the rescue, I hope there are no hard feelings, I just hate humans,” I said before I released the ball of fire aimed straight through his chest.
Two things happened at that moment, for one something froze me in place and two I felt something else stirring inside my body. The fear in Sam’s eyes triggered a memory in me.

‘Please spare us, princess, I'm begging you,’ a man bathed in his comrades' blood begged me on his knees.
‘Find it in your heart to forgive them, they meant no harm,’ a woman said beside me with sympathy swimming in her eyes.
The woman was taller than me with a beautiful pale blue skin tone and a slender body covered in tattoos. She was a sight for sore eyes and looking at her made something inside me do flips of joy. She seemed to radiate light around her and just her silky velvet voice made me want to follow her every command.
‘You got a little drool here,’ she chuckled as she noticed me gawking at her.

I gasped at the memory that flooded through my mind giving me a splitting headache. I pinched the bridge of my nose as the blue woman kept flashing before my eyes.
Who was she?
And why did she stir something inside me?
Unfortunately or fortunately for Same, the ball of flame I set upon him froze mid-air and awaited further instructions. Sam was too stunned to speak let alone move from place to him I only froze for a few seconds which didn't even give him enough time to run for his life. For me, the memory felt like I was trapped in someone's mind reliving their life which felt like an eternity, which was only a couple of seconds to the real world.
I dissolved the flame into thin air, leaving behind small sparks that burned the floor slightly before disappearing. With a heavy sigh, I descended slowly which was a mistake.
Upon my flashback, I didn't hear someone entering the room until it was too.
“Mother Mary Joseph,” Billy gasped as he held the railing on the stairway for support.
His eyes bulged out of their sockets as he watched me float back down as if he were seeing the impossible. Now him, I had no issue ending instantly. A ball of fire instantly formed in my palm that I instantly aimed at his head over Sam’s shoulder.
“Duck,” I told Sam before I let the ball loose to its intended target.
The moment Sam ducked the flame moved at the speed of light straight through Billy’s head. His body fell forwards rolling down the couple steps that were left, blood pooling by the stairway. The scent of burnt flesh and blood surrounded the room, at the sight of his headless body, Sam hurled his stomach out on the floor.
“Gross,” I said blankly, which was a common reaction to such things.
“Give me a break Lord,” he groaned as he fell to his ass and sat cross-legged.
I got the feeling he didn't like the sight of Billy’s lifeless body lying around so I stretched my hand out towards it and dissolved it into the air. His body instantly burnt up and burst into tiny fiery flames. That seemed to help calm Sam down.
“What are you?” He asked breathlessly with troubled eyes.
“Wouldn't we all like to know that,” I shrugged my shoulders casually as I sat down opposite him.
“You don't know what you are?” He asked cautiously.
“No, I have no memories before two years ago,” I answered honestly, not quite sure why I was conversing with him when he was going to be my next victim.
“Oh, so you just woke up one day without any memory of who you were?” He asked genuinely as he wiped his mouth with the back of his jacket sleeve.
“Nor where I was,” I said blankly.
“Dang that sounds horrible,” he said sincerely.
“Indeed it was,” I said.
While conversing with Sam I carefully listened to the heartbeats on the campsite and their exact location. I could already feel Lily craving to end more pitiful souls and test our powers to their limits.
For once the girl and I were on the same page, it was about time we had a little exercise.
