Chapter 1
Ava's POV
"You better not let us loose this contract, or else you're gonna regret it." He threatened in his deep and intimidating tune as I had shuddered in fear, the aura around him was of intense exasperation.
Getting to recall that terrifying scene made me brace up and stay focused on the tons of projects I was assigned to, I needn't hear those words that were filled with resentments and threats.
Getting to make a little mistake could just make him ruin my life as I was helpless and under him, so I'd was vulnerable to his wrath.
This was how my life had being, getting treated as thrash by my boss. I was indebted to serving him when he needed my services, I had no say or objection when he requests I do something.
But then I endured this cruel treatment, no matter how I'd get humiliated or pushed around, I stood firm in my believes.
I was the sort of a determined girl who'll go to no extent to make my dreams come true, and if being the personal assistant to an arrogant and cruel boss was my first step, then I was up for the challenge.
I snapped out of my thoughts as my gaze went back to the monitor infront of me. i had being seated on me desk, for over 5 hours, working on several project my arrogant boss left me with.
I felt so exhausted as my eyelids could barely stay open for another second, even though my mind reminded me of his threatening words and intimidating aura, the tiredness around my limps just tempted me to lay down for some seconds, as I lay my head to rest for a while.
"Ava!" I heard that deep and hoarse voice that sent shivers down my spine, with a flinch I jerked to see the figure of the stern looking Boss Carlos.
If stares could kill, then with the way he glared at me, I'd be a gonner.
"G..good afternoon boss." I stuttered, I had to greet him even though I knew I wasn't gonna get a response from him.
"How the hell will you be sleeping during work hours?" He queried as I felt my throat swallowing hard.
"S....sir I" It became difficult to make a complete sentence with my lips as I pursed staring silently at him.
"You're just giving me more reasons to kick your ass of my company." He flared.
Carlos had always being upset with me for no particular reason, the resentments he harbored against me was uncomprehending.
He never gets satisfied with any thing I do as he tags it "imperfect."
"But sir, I had completed the task you gave me, I've done the projects, sign the..."
"Just shut the fûck up and hand me over the project you worked on." He said rudely. I only gave a nod as I searched the drawers and got out some files.
"Here." I said and offered it to him.
"Are this the files that father asked me to work on?" he asked. as I gave a nod.
"I stated the facts and ideas that'll be needed for the project." I replied as his eyes went through the documents and after a while he stared back to me.
His expressions were hard to define as I stared silently at him, hoping something positive happens.
"And you think this is good enough?." He flared with the glare that seems not to varnish in his eyes.
He slammed the papers on the table.
"Rewrite this." he ordered.
I was tempted to reject it. Going over again with this project was like walking through hell for the second time.
"s..sir, I've done it to the best of my ability." I said. "I literally put in all of my effort and ideas in this, and there's no other way around it, that's all I got." I explained as he drew closer to me, his spiky looks made me swallow hard.
"Do you think you have an option?" He asked in a sarcastic look. "You're indebted to my dad for bringing you from the streets into a luxurious company to work as his son's PA." he said in deep breaths, his eyes staring at me in disgust.
"So if you think you have an option, well you're welcome to go back to the streets." He said in a rude and scornful tune as he pulled away.
"Bitch." He said with a smirk before walking out.
I felt those hot and agonizing tears bleeding their way out of my eyes. As his words replayed on my head.
But he wasn't wrong either, I was an unfortunate orphan who had no where to stay, no shelter no place to call home, as my parents left me to hands of fate.
my life was an obscure destitute not until I met Mr Chandler Spud, the owner and CEO of the Chandler's empire, I was begging on the streets when he approached me and asked about my background.
At first I had no trust in him, but seeing the sincerity and kindness he showed towards me just made me have no other choice than to give him a chance.
He took me in, and just like he would do to his own daughter he trained me and decided I'd be the personal assistant of his Son- Carlos.
Carlos was the opposite of Mr Chandler as he was rather rude, insensitive, cruel and arrogant.
he was so bossy and annoying as he underrated and downgraded others below him.
I could vividly remember the first time we met, how arrogant and Rude he sounded to me.
RECAP OF MONTHS AGO
"What's your name?" he asked with a look of disgust.
"Ava sir." I had said in a low mutter.
"Are you that poor that you have no surname?" He asked in sarcasm as I swallowed hard before raising my gaze to him.
"I..I'm Ava Denison." I said in a voice that sounded off to be likely a mutter.
"Hmm, where are your parents?" He asked.
"Th..they're late." I replied. He smirked, tucking his hands into his pockets.
"And you think a nonentity like you with no family background, a bastard and a wretched orphan was fitted to be my personal assistant?" He asked in a scorn tune. His words were like aggressive flames that burned with the desire not to quench.
