Chapter 3
Ava's POV
"T...thank you sir." I said with a short smile as he nodded.
"I bet to take your leave." I said as he nodded.
"Take good care of yourself Ava, and do not hesitate to call me, if you ever need my help." Mr Chandler said as I nodded.
"Thank you so much sir." I muttered before stepping out of the study and then I bumped into someone I shouldn't have.
"What the f**k are you doing here." He asked with a frown.
"I...I came to the see the CEO." I said and left without waiting for a response From him.
Carlos POV
She came to see my father? For what? I thought.
And about the documents, I had forgotten to get them from her, as I turned back to her, but she had gone far beyond sight.
I shrugged, I would just give dad a lame excuse, moreover he always believes whatever I said and this won't be an exception.
"Greetings father." I said in a respectful tune as he raised his gaze to me with a smile.
"Greetings son, how was your day at work?" He asked.
"Good but a little stressful." I said putting on an exhausted expression. "I had to meet up with different clients and partners, cracking up deals and stuffs like that." I said with the intents of my words soothing his ears, though I did none of that as I was on my way to looking for partners that'll form an alliance with me after he's dead and the company becomes mine.
"You're as hard working as your father." He complimented as I gave a feint smile.
I was about talking about the documents he had asked me to prepare a presentation when I caught sight of it on his table, how did it reach here without my consent.
"Uhmm. Dad, about the documents." I said pointing to what was at his desk.
"Ohh yeah, you need not worry, Ava had brought them to me herself and had told me she was the one that worked on it." Dad said as I grimaced. Hearing this s**t only steamed the rage in me.
The guts of that wretched girl. I felt so agitated upon hearing this.
"And I must say, she really gave me beyond my expectations." Dad said. "She'll make the company grow massively." Dad added staring up to me as i faked a smile nodding to his words.
She had just come into the way of my plans on pleasing father.
I had wanted him to think that I did the project, so perfectly well, I wanted to gain his trust and be tagged his ever loyal and favorite, but that good for nothing just ruined his plans.
She was a gold digger who just wanted to impress father so she can gain a name in this family.
The thoughts of it drove me to extreme anger as I clenched my jaws.
"B..but dad you know I can do better than that."I replied.
"Better? I don't think so, I personally trained Ava, so she is as good as you." Father said.
This was what she wanted, for father to praise her name as though she was some sort of superhero, my contempts for her only doubled up as I resented her for the worst.
She was trying to prove something uncommon; the fact that women also have a chance of being the world's greatest.
That was ridiculous to think that can be possible or that she could attain such a level.
Women's place were at the feet of men, and if she thinks she can break the world's record by being the untamed, fiercest and most successful woman in the universe, then she was welcome to try.
I was gonna make things difficult for her, she'll regret ever disobeying my orders.
Ava's POV
"Why are you coming back this late?" Ella asked.
"I was being punished with tons of work by my cold boss." I muttered collapsing on the couch, as she brought a plate of food for me.
Ella's like a sister to me, we have being together for years now, and had lived like sisters, eating from the same plate to drinking from the sane cup.
We had being helping and supporting each other right from our childhood days, we both grew up to live like street kids as we had no one to call our parents, we fended for ourselves, fight and defend ourselves as well.
I was some years older than Ella so I took her as a junior sister as she regarded me as her senior sister.
The love we had for each other were like the ones you find around most siblings that Cherish themselves and I had promised Ella of a better life some day.
And now we were out of the streets, I now had a job that earns me an income that could accommodate us, I was able to fulfill most of the promises I had made to Ella.
And sponsoring her tutoring were a part of those promises; I enrolled her in one of the average schools in town.
"Why not sue him, that's unfair." Ella said
"I know it unfair, but I don't have a choice, like he said, he could ruin me, he could sake me at anytime he damn fit and if that happens, then we'll be left with nothing." I explained as Ella nodded.
"But why is he being this cruel to you, I mean what has have you ever done to him, to deserve such ill- treatment." Ella asked.
"My status." I replied.
"Your status? And what about that? What has your status have to do with the cruel treatment he shows towards you." Ella asked.
"The fact that I have ni background and no family." I replied in a mutter, my eyes trying to betray the boldness I was trying to portray.
I felt Ella's arms hugging me across the shoulders.
"You have a family and I am your family." She said and hugged me tighter as my phone rung just immediately.
