Chapter 13: Early Distractions

So, Zeya’s the name of the bear woman, and she's probably their leader. I need to get on her good side.        Zeya withdrew the ax pointed at her and quickly removed her cloak, and threw it to her face. Meanwhile, the other women looked at each other before they decided to withdraw their weapons. She must be right about Zeya being the leader of this bizarre group.        “Cover yourself. We’re taking you to Camp Bukandi,” Zeya ordered. Ada blinked consecutively in utmost confusion and frustration.       “Camp what?” she asked, thinking they’d be offering her to some puny god somewhere.       “Quickly!” Zeya hissed at her. She then stood up and hurriedly wrapped herself with the cloak, making sure all her delicate parts were now covered as she tied the cloak's string around her chest thoroughly.       “Xena must be right. That woman being here is quite fishy. Shouldn’t we kill her right here, Zeya?” the provocative woman protested.          This crazy woman! I’m going to haunt you later if you get me killed!       “Do you have a problem with my orders, Nissa?” Zeya sassed back at the annoying woman. Ada let out a light smirk as she laughed at the annoying woman in her head.        So, Nissa’s the name of that ‘cabrona’ (b*tch) and Xena’s the other one.        “Fine!” Nissa agreed, and she walked towards her, grabbing a rope somewhere from her back and tightly tied it to her wrists. She groaned inside and pursed her lips as she felt that Nissa was deliberately hurting her while knotting the rope. However, she wouldn't give this woman the satisfaction of seeing her hurt.        Why is this woman like this?         She didn’t do anything wrong apart from being here and being n***d too. She thought Nissa felt inferior to her. Why would she? Honestly, her plump physique is nothing compared to that of Nissa's pear-shaped body. Plus, Nissa’s got a beautiful face too, if only she’d smile a little and maybe, omit the aggressiveness and her loads of attitude.       Suddenly, a rustling coming from the bush startled them all, especially her, as she quickly ran behind the women to protect herself from another beast attack. The women drew their weapons instantly, and they waited for the enemy to come out.        “Show yourself!” Zeya fiercely commanded. This woman doesn’t seem to be afraid of anything.        Then, two men came out of the tall bushes, and the women sighed in relief as they saw them and quickly withdrew their weapons. So, they were acquaintances.       “What did you find?” Zeya asked the men.       “There are fresh traces left behind from the left further side. They might still be around, probably camping somewhere,” the shorter man informed them. The man is probably two to three years older than her. He’s about five and a half feet tall. His skin is lightly tanned, and despite the soiled-white canvas shirt he’s currently wearing, his dashing rectangular body is apparent. He’s wearing brown leather pants and silver boots. He has this thick, dark, straight hair cut into a textured crop. He has light stubbles on his square jaw. He wasn’t blessed with a sharp nose, but his lips are quite luscious. His almond eyes are questioning, especially when those darted on hers. Then she felt a surge of nervousness as their eyes met.         What the hell am I doing, simping over a man I just met?       “I see we’ve got some company,” the handsome man stated as he noticed her.        “We’ll finish scanning this side of the forest. Jaxx, you bring her first to our headquarters,” Zeya commanded.       Oh, what a lovely name!       The taller man nodded at Zeya. Ada scowled in disappointment but was immediately lost for words as she ogled at the taller man named Jaxx. He’s probably the same age as the shorter man. However, he’s about six-foot-tall and has a fair complexion too. His slender body is perfectly sculpted, and he only wore black pants and a pair of dark, weird shoes.       He has short, straight, light brown, undercut hair tied into a bun to which she finds sexy. He has a stern expression glued on his medium-stubbled, oval face. He has quite thick light brown lashes for a man, and his silver eyes are pretty amusing to gaze at, not to mention his thin lips.        Very British…        “Who’s that woman?” Mr. Smaller Man can't seem to get her out of his mind. Can't anyone just introduce her to him?        “She’s lost. We are going to question her once we get back. As for now, we must finish the job, Cloy… as quickly as possible,” Zeya answered.        Cloy…        Nissa gripped her right arm firmly and shoved her toward the men’s direction. Naturally, she stumbled, and she eventually crashed into Cloy’s body. He caught her with his muscled arms, and she couldn't help but feel the sparks ignited in her as he gently gripped her arms while he looked straight into her eyes.        “I like your amethyst eyes,” Cloy softly muttered to her.       Is he already flirting with me?       “And, your pale hair too,” he went on.       Her brows knitted in confusion to what he said.       “Pale hair?” she repeated, and the man just nodded at her. She looked at some of the hair resting on her arm and was shocked to see white instead of the natural auburn shade. She grabbed a handful of her hair to confirm that her eyes are not just deceiving her.       “Hostia p*ta (holy f*ck)!” she cursed in shock. Everyone around her was puzzled by her reaction.        “What?” Cloy asked in bewilderment. He removed his grasps on her arms, afraid he did something wrong to her.       “It was supposed to be auburn!” she complained. That’s when she noticed their expressions while looking at her. She tried to calm down so she wouldn't lose their trust. “Never mind…” she said, shaking her head, specifically at Zeya.        “Time to go,” Jaxx chimed in. Her gaze darted to him as she was astounded to hear his deep, husky voice.        Then, a puff of black smoke burst out of Jaxx as if he self-exploded. She gasped after witnessing the perplexing situation and looked around, but everybody seemed calm, except for her. And, as the smoke started to clear out, she saw a gray, horrendous humanoid horse instead of Jaxx.        Her jaw dropped as her body went numb. Her eyes froze, and before she could utter a shriek, her mind went blank as she collapsed on Cloy’s brawny arms.
