I pushed the door of the office open and I smiled at the young man who was seated in the chair. He didn’t care less about me or my smile.
“Welcome,” a more accommodating person said gesturing to me to take a seat. I smiled at him.
“Good morning sir,” I bowed before sitting, I didn’t see him behind the shelf. Why did an office have a shelf again? I pretended to be taking note of the man in front me while looking at the shelf. Strange. It was filled with journals and not textbooks.
“He doesn’t speak,” the man behind the shelf said referring to the cold looking demigod in front of me. Disappointment filled my heart immediately.
“I’m so sorry sir, I didn’t know.” I apologized to the dumb man and then the other man. The dumb man threw him a hot glare and he smirked.
“I am Jerry, by the way.” the man behind the shelf introduced and I smiled taking his waiting hand.
“Georgia.”
“Soft hands, Georgie,” he complimented before leaving my hand and the mute man grunted, looking at us with cold empty eyes. “Oh that’s Ryder Kennedy, his father owns this place. He’s making sure that I don’t take all the beautiful ladies away.” He winked. What a flirt.
“Oh, nice meeting you sir,” I smiled at Ryder but he didn’t even blink an eye.
“Your resume?” Jerry asked and I passed him my resume. “Wow, impressive.” He passed it to Ryder, whose eyes scanned through the resume and sized me up coldly.
“What do you think?” Jerry asked him and I watched him closely, I maintained a smiley face to which he rolled his eyes. He blinked at Jerry and Jerry smiled beautifully.
“You are hired.” He announced.
“Really?” I asked him unsure.
“Of course. You should know that this is a very rare opportunity.”
“I do know that sir and I appreciate your kindness.” I got up and bowed to the both of them.
“Kindness?” Jerry rounded the table to meet me. “With such a resume, who would not employ you?”
“Wow! I did not think it was good enough.” I was fast to catch Ryder’s eyes rolling. Our eyes met and his empty eyes lingered on mine as if saying he didn’t trust me. I tried not to look away since that would sell me out. If Ryder being mute can be running or helping to run his father’s business, then he must be smart and or cunning.
“Oh Ryder,” Jerry called, clearly noticing the tension rising in the office. “Don’t be offended, Miss Georgie, Ryder has a bad habit of communicating with people through his eyes. Anyway, I am sure he was just saying how lucky we are have someone with your expertise to work with his father.”
“Wait, what? I thought I was going to work here with you?” I turned to Ryder who just rolled his eyes again. Does he do that all the time?
“Oh Georgie, I understand how disappointed you may be right now but you don’t have to worry, you are in safe hands there and I’ll stop by every now and then to check on you. If that’s what you want.” Again Ryder grunted.
“Thank you so much sir, you are so kind.”
“And you are so sweet. Work starts tomorrow by eight, don’t be late.”
I walked out of that office and outside of the building before I could breathe properly. Last week after I had tried to commit suicide and ended up in Maggie’s apartment. I saw a picture of Ryder on a poster on her table. Turns out he was hiring new staff.
That was the moment I conceived this beautiful idea. Death refused me obviously and life held on to me. There has to be a reason for that.
After staying up all night, I found out it was for one thing… revenge.
My life had been ruined but those who ruined it will continue their lives after I am dead. There’s no justice in that. Deciding to put my sorrow and grief behind me, I disguised myself and went to the company for the interview.
I had no resume and I had no idea how to get one. But while waiting, I came across a b***h with a bad mouth. She seemed to have all the qualifications needed- judging by her bad character, dressing and aura- she boasted about how good she was. When I was fed up I stole her resume and poured coffee on her white shirt.
“You dirty little b***h!” she yelled calling the attention of security.
“I’m so sorry it was a mistake.” I tried to beg her but she slapped me. I took the slap as a payback for her resume which she does not know that I have stolen.
She was escorted to the ladies’ room but she insisted on going back home to change. Perfect. I used the opportunity to run down the road and get the resume typed and printed with my bio- a new one though.
That was the perfect resume I had submitted and gotten a job with. From where I stood I saw the b***h. She was back. She was hurrying past a guard when he stopped her.
“I am here for the interview.”
“I’m sorry the interview ended twenty minutes ago.”
“What? I was here, I just went back home to change my clothes.”
“I’m sorry the interview is over, I can’t let you in.”
“That little b***h! f**k!” I closed my eyes to her curses as I put on my sunglasses with a smirk.
Well, you may be wondering why I am so obsessed about Ryder that I had to disguise myself and steal somebody else’s resume just to work in his company. Well he is the son of Maco, my father’s friend who r***d me.
And this… is my revenge mission.
Say goodbye to pitiful and sorry Maya and say Hello to the vicious Georgia.
