CHAPTER 6Mirabelle’s wedding was in October that year, the same month as Nigeria’s independence. The wedding itself was a culmination of all the months and weeks of preparation, and a declaration of Mirabelle’s own formal graduation from making decisions for herself alone to forever including one more person in the picture: her soon-to-be husband, Paul. The church ceremony took place fairly quickly in a church Mirabelle did not attend. Although she attended a Redeemed Church, she felt the church building was not tush enough and opted for a fancier Pentecostal church with tusher facilities and even tusher architecture.
