Milkmaid's daughter.!
Caliph Umar often traveled around Madinah to see the condition of the people. One day when he came near a hut, he heard a conversation from inside the hut. An old woman asked a girl to add some water to a pot full of milk. But the girl was not ready for that. The woman said to the child, "I didn't tell you to pour water in the milk pot, so why are you hesitating". The child said, "Haven't you heard that Caliph Umar declared that water should not be added to milk?". The woman said to the child, "Khalifa Umar is not here to see you pour water on it." The child said, "Doesn't God see everything even if Caliph Umar is not here?". The child's reply pleased Khalifa Umar. After Umar returned, he inquired more about the child. The child was an orphan. Only that girl and mother are in their house. They lived in a small hut and were very poor. When Umar was sitting in the mosque, he told the story of this girl to his friends who were sitting there. Some suggested that the child should be given some gift." What kind of gift?" asked one. "A thousand dirhams" suggested another. Umar said, "I want to give that girl a bigger gift than that." Everyone wanted to know what would happen. Umar said "I want to marry my son to that girl". Everyone was happy about it. Umar proposed a marriage for his son and made the child his daughter-in-law.
