I quickly pushed Balwin backwards with all the force I could while shouting to Erin to hide.
He flew several feet back and smashed a large table. He stood up but completely ignored me. His eyes followed someone running along the hall. I didn't need to look to know who his eyes were following. I was not sure at what point I had started constantly having my position in the world be measured in distance and direction from Erin. But I realized I always knew where she was and how far away from me it was. That contentment was when she was near and cold, when she was far away.
