THE REJECTION

Emily's POV "Let's get a divorce," he said, and it felt like a sharp pain hit my heart. His eyes were empty when he spoke those hurtful words. My heart ached so much that I could barely breathe. Tears started to fall from my eyes. "Is it... because of Ivy?" I asked, my voice shaking even though I was trying to stay strong by clenching my fists. "No, it's not about her. This is better for both of us. We're stuck in a relationship that doesn't mean anything. A relationship can't work if only one person is trying. You've been doing your best to keep our marriage going, but I can't let go of my past. You deserve someone better, Emily. I don't want you to keep suffering." I didn't say anything. My heart was weak and could easily break, but he still had the courage to hurt me. How could he know that I would be happier without him? I was content just knowing he was with me, even if he didn't love me. I wanted to speak, but I closed my mouth again when he took out some papers from his bag and placed them on the table in front of me. Seeing his signature on the paper made my heart hurt right away. My last bit of hope was gone too. It felt like my heart was being crushed inside my chest. The texture of the divorce papers felt rough under my fingers, adding to the harsh reality of the situation. "You'll receive three more houses. You can keep your favorite car, and I'll give you thirty million dollars," Jasper said, pointing to the contract with his long finger that had a special ring on it, a ring he'd worn for three years. My eyes felt sore for a moment. "I don't want anything. I just want you, Jasper," I whispered, looking at him with hopeful, teary eyes. "I've decided, Emily. Please understand. I'm tired of pretending to be happy. I can't keep living like this. Before, I had to make you my Luna because of my dad. But now that he's gone, there's no reason to keep up this fake marriage. I know we're meant to be together. "I don't think we'll be happy with our destined mate. We've given it a try, but it didn't work out. It's best if we go our separate ways. I hope you find someone who loves you as much as you deserve." He gave up a while ago, and now it's my turn to do the same. It's silly to wait when there's no hope. And it's silly to keep going on a path that leads nowhere. "You have three days to think about it. But don't make me wait too long. I can only be patient for so long." After saying that, he got up to leave. "Wait." It was hard for me to say anything. "I'm ready," I said, and then I picked up the pen and signed my fake name, 'Emily Hart' for the final time in the spot marked on the divorce papers. My hand was trembling as I signed. "I don't want any money from you." I put the pen back on the table, took out our engagement ring, and placed it on the divorce papers. Then I stood up to look him in the eyes. "Let's end our relationship right now, right here. Let's break the final connection that keeps us together. Then you will be free from me." Jasper looked shocked, as if he didn't expect me to say this. But soon, he changed his expression to a cold one. I looked confidently into his eyes, even though I felt terrible inside. I noticed him clenching his teeth and standing tall, looking into my eyes with uncertainty. Jasper took a deep breath before he spoke. "I, Jasper Great..." My heart felt heavy with fear. This was really happening. I had held onto the hope that he might love me in the future, but he never truly belonged to me. "Son of the late Alpha Benedict Great and Alpha of the Moon Shadow Pack, I reject you, Emily Hart, as my Mate and Luna of the Pack." I felt a sudden, intense pain in my chest, like being hit by lightning. The pain moved from my chest to the rest of my body. I could hear my wolf's painful howl in my mind. Jasper, breaking the connection, fell onto the ground, let out a small cry, and tightly held his chest in agony. He had ended the bond. Now it was my turn. I took a deep breath to start. "I, Emily Hart..." I stopped, tightly clenching my hands and grinding my teeth, feeling like I might collapse at any moment. 'I can't let him reject me here. He might find out my secret. I can't let him know who I really am. I should go to our room. It's a safer place to do this.' I turned to head to my room when I heard Jasper's voice behind me. "Are you changing your mind now? Do you feel sorry for your choice and want to take back my refusal?" I closed my eyes tightly to stop myself from crying. "Don't worry. That won't happen. Just wait a bit. I'll return soon. Just don't change your mind about the refusal." With that, I hurried to the stairs and went to our room, slamming the door behind me. "I, Sophia Harper, daughter of Alpha Christian Harper of Blue Moon Pack, accept your refusal, Jasper Great, as my mate and as my Alpha." I winced in pain and clutched my chest. It felt like someone had just crushed my heart. I couldn't show weakness because I wasn't finished yet. Before I could continue, I heard the door handle turn. I looked back to see Jasper rushing into the room, breathing hard. "Are you satisfied now?" I forced a smile at him and took a deep breath. He didn't speak, just stared at me oddly, in a way I couldn't quite understand. "I, Emily Hart, who used to be the Luna of Moon Shadow Pack, say that Moon Shadow Pack is no longer my home or my Pack." After saying this, I felt like someone grabbed my throat and I couldn't breathe. I saw spots of black and white that made everything blurry. Just as darkness was about to take me, I felt two arms holding me. I knew it was Jasper. So, before I passed out, I said: "One day, you'll think of me and how much I loved you, and you'll be angry at yourself for letting me go." "Emily! Emily!" I heard Jasper calling my name just before I lost consciousness. I woke up to sunlight shining on my face through a gap in the curtains. I rubbed my eyes and looked around, realizing I was in our room. I remembered what happened yesterday and that Jasper isn't mine anymore. I let out a sad laugh and looked for my phone. It was on the bedside table, so I picked it up and sent a message to Henry. Me: Henry, can you come get me from Moon Shadow Pack? Henry: Wow! What a nice surprise, Princess! You've finally come to your senses. Don't worry, I'll be there soon. By chance, I'm already in your pack for some work. Me: That's good. I'll wait for you then. I got out of bed and went to the closet to clean up and put on clean clothes. That's the only thing I'm taking with me when I leave. After cleaning up, I noticed my phone was ringing. I hurried to answer it. It was Henry calling. “Princess, I'm here. Come down. I'm waiting for you.” “I'm ready. I'll be there in a minute.” I said that and ended the call, putting the phone in my jeans pocket. I took a deep breath before heading to the door, but paused before opening it to look back at the large picture of Jasper above our bed one last time. Two tears fell from my eyes as I looked at his handsome face. "Bye, Jasper. I think you'll wish you hadn't let me go, but it'll be too late. I hope you're happy, the person who used to be the most important to me." I quickly went to the front door, trying not to be seen. Once I was outside, I saw Henry looking cool by his car. He smiled big when he saw me and opened his arms for a hug. I cried when I saw him after so long, and I ran to hug him. "Welcome back, Emily. Let's return to the Blue Moon Pack." I added and wiped my nose, then got in his car and left, silently saying goodbye to the group member who loved me a lot.
