I didn’t sleep well the night before, and it wasn’t because I didn’t try. I tried. I really did. I closed my eyes. I changed positions like twenty times. I even tried humming that silly tune Declan always mocked me for. But nothing helped. Every time I fell asleep, the same dream dragged me back.
My father.
Dead.
Blood everywhere.
And the look in his eyes… like he regretted everything too late.
It was strange because I didn’t know how to feel. I loved him. At least, a part of me still did. He was my father. He raised me. He held my hand when I was little. He used to call me “little star” before all the darkness happened. Before he became the monster the world saw.
