"have you ever thought about a change?" Cassandra speaks to Taylor in a more serious tone.
"what change?"
"an upgrade in your personality, sister."
"don't you appreciate how I dress?"
"I have no problem with it, but I would soon...."
"but I love how I look!"
"it's more than that, no offence but you acting frail, when you could stand up for damn self."
"you could teach me?"
Cassandra hesitant "you willing to learn from the best."
"yes, I'll give it a trial."
The girls arrived at Taylor's home in her room, comfortably lying close to each other.
"stand up!" Cassandra commanded; Taylor obeyed.
"firstly, you have to be confident in yourself."
"how?" Taylor enquired
Cassandra stands to her feet away from the bed "I am Taylor, I'm flawlessly beautiful and I'm fearless." Cassandra says demonstratively to Taylor.
"I'm Taylor, I'm beautiful and I'm fearless." Taylor says.
"what about flawlessly?, look you've got to admire yourself that much!"
"I have doubts, so let's just stick to just beautiful."
"Okay if you say so." Cassandra continues "say it louder!"
"I'm Taylor, I'm beautiful and I'm fearless."
"louder Taylor!"
Taylor shouts again building up courage.
"I can't hear you!"
Taylor repeats.
"let the world hear you!"
Taylor had her arm on her waist stylishly repeatedly says it, loudly.
"that's the spirit girl, let's work on the beauty part, alright?"
"so what are we to do?" Taylor questioned.
"let start with the hair."
"what!" Taylor refuses.
"A little change won't kill."
"no, nobody's touching my hair." defending,
"okay girl, the clothing aspect."
"No body messes with my wardrobe."
"you been difficult." Cassandra angrily yells.
"yea, yea I am."
"I'll just take my leave." Taylor sits stubbornly on the bed while Cassandra leaves.
ON MONDAY.....
AT SCHOOL.
Taylor in the library focused on a novel; the meanies walked pass arrogantly and caught sight of a prey, the meanies luckily walks into the library;
Mrs Stan, the library inspector engrossed in her reading, not paying attention to whom ever walks in.
Zoey and Carol made their way opposite Taylor at the library with an evil smirk, on their faces.
Taylor tries to escape but was blocked by Melissa; while Taylor quietly had her seat, Zoey whispers "pull your shoes."
Taylor trembling, pulls her old Snickers placing it on the desk.
"place it on the table." Zoey ordered, places it in the desk.
Taylor afraid does at ordered being afraid.
"Smell it" the meanies gave an evil smirk as Taylor places her nose closer to inhale the smell from her footwear.
students around in the library whom noticed the meanie were quiet to avoid being victims of their gruesome acts.
AFTER SCHOOL.
Taylor in haste to Cassandra residence.
rings the door bell but wouldn't sound then she hits her knuckles to the door, knocks so loud; Alison opens the door to check whom it was.
"hi" Taylor shudder,
Alison lets her in then calls Cassandra from her room.
Cassandra walks down the stairs with a book.
"what's you doing here?" Cassandra's pride.
"I'm really sorry, Cassy (she sighs) a little change wouldn't hurt; would it?" Cassandra surprised smile meant an accepted apology.
Taylor had her hair trimmed and the tip tinted red.
"hope you brought some cash?"
"I broke my piggy box."
"it would be worth it." Cassandra assures.
They left for a boutique, Taylor had some clothes tested.
Cassandra had picked a makeup box; at Cassandra's home they stood outside the door and Cassandra surprisingly handed her the makeup box.
"but, I don't know how to use it?"
"you will, with time, I'll walk you home."
Taylor's room, Cassandra teaches her home to perform makeovers, Cassandra's phone ringing "yeah, mom"
"I'll be home soon."
The call ended; it was dark; Cassandra and Taylor approached the exit, Mr Wintler walks in and notices the changes in his daughter.
"oh my!" he exclaims.
Taylor bade Cassandra adieu, Cassandra walked out the door.
"what happened to your hair?" Arnold couldn't contain his surprise at the physical change.
"I just wanted something a little different." she answers a little quietly, learning to be comfortable with the change.
"I brought pizza, you want some?" changes the conversation.
"for sure" Taylor feeling awkward, they got seated at the dinner.
Mr Wintler praises "Cassandra's being a good friend, isn't she?"
"she is" Taylor snaps overly sure.
"do you mind telling me about your day?"
"Nope." Taylor blurted out.
"okay (disappointed) you must have met Alison; Cassandra's mom."
"yea, she's pretty." I actually watched you rush to her home, girls stuff."
Mr Wintler chuckled.
(FIVE) 5 YEARS AGO.
"would you like to have a step mom?"
Taylor choked; Mr Wintler fetched and handed her a cup of water "what!?"
"you've found someone?" panicking voice; she never prepared for that question.
"you've been alone for way too long; Taylor (he kisses her hands), what in should have done long ago, (he was emotional) so you don't feel too alone."
"I don't fell alone; I have you and I'm fine." she kicked against his opinion.
"if you doing this for me; I don't want it dad!" she clears the teardrop from her eyes.
she ran through the stairs to her room.
Taylor's gotten too fond of her father, he was a mother figure and a father.
won't understand the need for a mother, Mr Wintler played both parenting roles so well.
He feared for his daughter;
He felt she was lonely,
Her happiness has been his life's intent.
Taylor was Susan's replica.
He stares at Taylor; memories of Susan floods his heart.
He realises something was missing in Taylor's life all along,
he tries to be the best parent he could be, deep down he knows He couldn't fill the gap in her heart.
THE FOLLOWING DAY.
"Celine this is Taylor." Taylor stood by Arnold not wanting to leave his sight.
"hi Taylor" Celine had said with a smile, hiding her disgust from Arnold.
"what a beautiful girl." Celine complimented, caressing Taylor's jaw, Taylor moves away from Celine and stood behind Mr Wintler in scare.
They had lunch together, Taylor was scared of the new woman, she could feel the dislike of Celine towards her but wouldn't tell.
Mr Wintler loved Celine, couldn't think she wouldn't like his little Taylor.
Celine introduced herself a widow, she was a natural beauty, her lengthy dark brown hair curled at the tip, her makeovers were moderate;
When Celine had brought her daughter to Mr Wintler's home to spend the weekend.
"Taylor this is Molly." Celine introduced.
"you're a Blondie." Molly was irritated "I hate Blondie!"
"hey, don't say that!" Mr Wintler corrected.
friendly Taylor moved closer to Molly, but Molly pushed her to her falling to the ground.
Taylor had sprint her arm and called for help, Mr Wintler ran from the kitchen with Celine to her aid.
He raises his daughter and rushed to the hospital; Molly was sorry actions but Mr Wintler wasn't pleased with her.
Taylor had her arm bandaged,
Their weekend was ruined, Mr Wintler fed his daughter after the accident but Celine wouldn't want to share his attention with poor Taylor.
Celine opted that Molly and Taylor share the same too. by nightfall, Mr Wintler against her suggestion.
"Taylor would you mind sharing your room with Molly?" Celine politely asks; "I don't think so." Taylor response in a more quiet tone.
Taylor on her bed, Celine sat by her; Mr Wintler walks in,
"Molly could use the guestroom." he suggested.
"Arnold let the girls bond." Celine spoke.
Molly nodding in disagreement with her mother.
"Celine please." Celine stood holding Molly and left the room.
Mr Wintler gave his little girl a smile "you'd be fine (he looks at her bandaged arm) alright?"
Taylor nodes in belief "if you need anything just call?"
"Mr!" she lively replied, he touches her nose and pecks her head to sleep.
Back at Mr Wintler's room; Celine temper boiling hot.
He walks in and shut the door "what the hell did you do back there?"
she hammered at him "what do you mean?"
"the girls, I was trying to create a relationship between them, but you came in and ruined all of it!"
"Taylor is hurt as of now, she is scared of Molly."
"No she isn't." Celine argued.
"she's my daughter and I understand her so well." Mr Wintler explained.
"please just let's go to bed." he begged.
"if I'm to be her stepmother, I need her to bond with my daughter!"
"it's late the children are asleep."
"what do you mean?, Molly needs to start liking Blondie's, Taylor is perfectly fine."
"I can't change what my daughter likes and don't, alright?"
"I get that a lot, it's fine we could talk better by morning."
Celine angrily covers herself with the duvet.
Mr Wintler laid on his bed, he sat thinking for a while as he watched Celine sleep, before he drifted to sleep.
BY MORNING.
Celine woke up in a favourable mood and prepared breakfast, she woke Arnold and the girls with a beautiful smile.
At the dinning, Mr Wintler spoon fed Taylor.
Celine wasn't happy at the fact that he has to feed Taylor, she gave a slight tap on her lap and fed her a spoonful of oat, she communicated with Arnold to rather focus on his meal.
"you've never fed me, mom, I once had a scratch on a finger and you never held a spoon for me; Taylor barely even hit her arm and you are being so lovely." Molly complained furious and jealous at her mother's kind act towards Taylor.
Mr Wintler calmed her nerves by also feeding her.
Taylor couldn't wait for the weekend to be over.
Molly was nasty and obviously unkind towards Taylor.
Mr Wintler and Celine were out together having a conversation.
"2months to our wedding, a new chapter of our lives, I wish we could throw and dispose our past and memories of the past."
Celine converse.
"yeah but those past experiences keeps us growing."
"you still hold on to the pictures of Susan in your room." her tone became more sensitive.
"yeah"
" if this marriage has to work, I want it all disposed." she ordered.
"Susan, Susan is my daughter's mother." he sounded a reminder to Celine.
"I very well know that, I can't be around and having another's woman pictures on our wall."
"it's fine, I understand" he agreed.
"about our girls?" she questioned.
"what about them?"
"I wish we could run far away from here together." she spoke, Mr Wintler stares at the rings on her ring finger.
"why do you have 2 rings on that finger?"
"I wanted to wear one more ring, silly me, don't even realise the need for that." she gave a loud awkward laughter, funny.
Arnold along side, finding it funny.
Celine had sighted a man walking up to her and was frightened by Hus presence, the man adjusted a seat and sat in their midst.
"extra classes, uhn?" he gazed at Celine.
Mr Wintler puzzled for a while "you know him?" he threw the question at Celine whom was awfully quiet.
she found her voice "Thomas (clears throat) meet Arnold."
The men gave themselves an unwelcoming stare; seemingly waiting for an explanation. Celine clears throat again more afraid of the stranger whom has found a space with them.
Thomas questions "so this is the extra classes you have been having?"
"Arnold needed someone to talkbto, I had to make time off work to speak with him." she lied with a fixated gaze at Arnold.
"what is going on here?" Arnold in total confusion.
"Celine would you do this man the honour to explain to him?" the man said, he was elderly, his hair properly handled.
A look at his face one could tell he was way handsome before the appearance of wrinkles, in a formal wea, one could tell he wasn't from the neighborhood.
"who is this man, please speak to me." Arnold pleads but Celine sat short of words, her mind hovering the place, the feeling of comfort had been replaced with an intense atmosphere.
Arnold stood and left best assuming the worst of the situation.
before he left; "I am Thomas (took a glance at Celine ) Celine's husband; I realised she'd been having too many too many extraclasses (he smiles staring at the uncomfortable Celine) so I followed her here, may be expecting to see students." Arnold in shock, looks at Celine whom couldn't defend herself.
Arnold humbly stood up and left the scene.
He wouldn't believe his ears, couldn't understand why she had lied to him or why she played with his emotions.
He got home, sat at the doors entrance; again, he was sad. Terribly sad.
He gave up on loving another and learnt to appreciate his efforts as a parent.
Taylor was happier having a father as he is, she had asked about aunt Celine but he gave excuses why she wasn't present in their lives.
