Immediately Becca entered the store, she realized something was amiss, the cashier was not at his usual place and the store was unusually quiet , it was just a small store and usually dint have a lot of customers, maybe one or two, she reached for the gun that was well tucked on her waist, just she made the first step towards the stall, someone hit her on head but it was not hard because she was too quick, the gun she had fell off from her hands and she ran to catch it but the guy who was after him ran after her, luckily she got to it fast before he could

“b***h! Let s just get what we want and we leave in peace, what is wrong with you” the other muscular guy shouted from the other end, he was holding the store owner hostage with a gun on his neck, “ Give me the money and we will be out of sight before you know it” he said to the store owner who was looking at Becca, he knew her because she was used to shopping at his store sometimes, he was already shaken, he was bleeding from his mouth and on his forehead

“SFPD, drop your gun and let him go!” she shouted at the guy holding the store owner hostage and he just laughed, he knew she was outnumbered so there was no way she was going to take them out

“You do realize that you are outnumbered, we are the two of us and you are alone, so just let this fucker give us the money I am asking and we will go without hurting anyone, it is just as simple as that, don’t make it hard for this shaken man, and he too won’t budge, where is the money?” he asked the man he was holding hostage

“I…don’t know what money you are talking about I swear, I gave you all I had I the safe, I don’t have any other money” the man said as he stuttered

“You are wasting my time, I said drop you gun and put your hands where I can see them, hurry up or I will shoot your partner here, let the man go and out your hands behind back!” Becca said and pointed the gun at the other guy who was still pointing his gun at her and when she realized that the a wasn’t going to budge she shot him twice on his legs and he fell down groaning in pain, his gun fell just close to where she was standing, she pushed it with her legs and pointed her gun at the guy holding the store owner, he had now pressed his gun on his neck hard

“SFPD, drop your gun and put your hands where I can see them” Joanna shouted room the doorway and the guy was surprised, he turned to look at the door and the store owner too that chance, he hit the gun and it went off, the bullet went through the glass walled stall, when he realized things were getting worse for him, he decided to run but Joanna was fast she shot him on his leg and he fell on the ground groaning in pain, the other guy was bleeding profusely

“Call an ambulance quickly” Joanna told the store owner and he immediately dialed 911

“You should be thanking me, I saved your ass” Joanna said to her and she just chuckled, she knew she was right it was either the guy would have shot her or the store owner, Joanna had just saved her life once again

“Okay whatever, I will thank you later, let me call back at the station, they can handle the rest from here since we are o duty today, she said as she fished her phone from her jacket pocket and dialed the office line. “Hello, this is detective McKenna and detective Joanna Martinez, there is a suspected robbery at the 4th avenue, rock street, two suspects are down, the ambulance is on its way here” she said and hung immediately the detective said he was on his way, she turned to McKenna who was busy interrogating one f the guys

“Let the two be, the ambulance is here already and detective Oscar and detective Baker will handle it from here, come on” she said and went to the counter, picked two packets of condom and handed them to the store owner together with some cash, he wrapped it for her and when he gave her the change, she told him to keep change, the ambulance arrived a few moments later and so did the two detectives so Joanna and Becca left

“Remind me again that I was off today, damn, we just wasted another thirty minutes, Michael might think I won’t be showing up tonight, let me give him a call” she said as she fastened her safety belt

“No wonder I don’t do relationships, you see why? Something came up, work related issue but you still have to apologize to apologize to him for that, who does that, you should just stick to being singe like me, there is no commitment, no submission and definitely no stupid apologies” Becca said and Joanna sneered, they were just five minutes from where they stayed

“Says someone who screws countless men, I am sure you don’t even remember their names and by the way it is high time you settled and got your own ma, stop having random s*x with strangers, you are not getting any younger Becca, you should really think about your life” Joanna said with a serious face and Becca chuckled

“You are partly the reason why I don’t date, look at the guy you are calling a boyfriend, he is a gangster, he is in a mafia group and a leader in that group, a group we are looking for, what happens when he is arrested at the end of the day, what will happen to you? You are just too pretty to date such kind of a guy, you and I have no difference Joanna you are just single like me and who told you I am worried about getting married? I have the whole time to think about starting my own family, you are the one who should check on the type of guys you date, you need to start thinking about your future” Becca said as she parked the car in the drive way

That was always how it ended between them, the topic of dating and relationships, it was a sensitive topic between the two, they both had different opinions and they never came to a proper agreement, Becca always said that dating was overrated, that was years after she broke up with her ex boyfriend, Jimmy.
