Blinking at Luce, I tried to make sense of his question.
Did she remember them? What was to remember their few days together, had she missed something?
"I don't know, what was I supposed to remember about us Luce?" She asked looking up through he lashes, she felt embarrassed that she'd forgotten something he had asked, she bit her lip as his eyes so full of emotion finally looked away.
"Nothing, It's ok Cassie, I uhh mistaked you again." He offer though his words sounded laced with disappointment that Cassie didn't understand.
She nodded, continuing to bite her lip, as Luce turned back to his own sketch, Luce tried to pull her focus back to her own but something nagged as she gazed at her picture once more.
As did that name Cassiel, it felt so familiar.
When the bell rang, Cassie took her time packing her things absentmindedly, she and Luce were the last left in the class, she rolled her picture up, tying a rubber band around it, she would take this one home.
As she lifted her head, Luce gazed from the doorway, his expression complex though set in a grim frown, he threw his artwork in the bin as he left the room.
Cassie felt her heart squeeze at his departure, heading to the door, she paused at the bin.
Cassie grabbed the artwork without looking at it she rolled it around her own adding another rubber band, then she left the room heading for her locker.
After my next class with Serena, Cassie left the room heading to the lunch room only too find Jasper leaning against the wall outside.
The guilty look said he'd been waiting for her, I bit my lip smiling, moving towards him everything seemed to slow as they locked eyes, her best friend and hunk of an almost boyfriend.
As she reached him, some girls passed them, shoot admiring glances at Jasper, my heart skipped as he ignored then straightening he lean in and as I closed my eyes, his lips felt soft and familiar.
When he pulled away, we headed towards the lunch room together, I passed Luce with Amy under one arm, he winked as they passed; well he was back to his over confident self again.
But something was still nagging at my mind as I remembered his question in art class, when he'd asked about us, he'd seemed vulnerable.
Jasper leads me by the hand to a table near the back, Ben, Jaspers best guy friend, is already sitting with a few others, I notice Daniel at the end of the table, I waved as he waggled his eyebrows at Jasper.
We sat across from Ben, him and Jasper went on about class as I excused myself to get something to drink from the canteen across the room.
Joining the line, I felt a tingle down my spine, I rubbed the back of my neck tryng to ignore it.
Something brushed my fingers and I felt sparks spread through hands up my arm, my heart picked up sped, thumping against my rib cage, I turned to look.
But no one was there, turning back around I came nose to nose with Luce, his eyes twinkled with mischief.
"Hey Cassie, looking for someone?" He teased.
I shook my head.
"No, I just thought I felt.." I didn't know how to explain. "Doesn't matter, how can I help you?"
He smiled wickedly, pulling a hand from behind his back, He held my favourite ice coffee, I grinned.
"Is that for me?" I asked.
"Of course it is darling, on one condition." He said holding a finger up on the other hand.
"Ok What is that?" I asked curious.
He paused, thinking for a moment.
"Let me take you somewhere over the weekend." He said.
I thought for a moment looking back at Jasper, I decided that'd be ok, I had promised to be friends with Luce.
"Ok" I nodded, he handed me the drink, smiling he shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Wheres Amy?" I asked, remembering he'd been with her earlier.
"Oh I left her with her friends, their conversation like learning mandarin." He pulled a face, as I nodded I knew what he ment.
"Well I'd better head back to the table." I watched him as he nodded.
"I'll see you again soon, see ya Cassie." He waved over his shoulder, leaving the line he headed towards the hallway.
I could see his muscles rippling under his white shirt and he moved, I bit my lip watching.
I shook my head, no Luce was a friend, as I turned back to the table, I caught Jasper looking at my curiously, I found myself blushing as I walk back to him.
After a long boring math class, I'd almost bolted for the door when the bell had rung, Luce hadn't come to math, so it had been eerily quiet, none of the girls had whispered clearly disappointed he'd skipped class, and I had to admit I'd miss his annoying interruptions.
I put my books away in my locker, shouldering my bag, I found Serena still at her locker, we chatted as we walked together to the car park to meet Jasper, he'd had science last with Serena.
Exiting the building, we scanned the car park looking for his black sedan, my eyes fell on Luce as he sat astride his Harley as Amy stood beside him, she was waving he hands as she spoke, Luce eyes slid to look at me, offering a grin, I blushed looking away.
"There he is!" Serena exclaimed, as Jasper's car come towards us, he pulled up, Serena getting in the front, I slipped into the back, we passed Luce as we left the car park.
The heavy tint of the windows prevent anyone from seeing inside as we drove, but I could of sworn his gaze found mine through the tinted window, my breath catching for a moment.
