Laying in wait.

After I'd left the classroom, I headed for my locker again, I'd shove my books in, then I planned to skip straight out across carpark to maccas to grab lunch, and maybe hide from the new kid Luce.
I would have no such luck, because fate had other plans today.
I was halfway down the hall only another 15 steps to my locker, when I was intercepted.
Someone hip and shouldered me hard into the lockers, I drop a few books but kept upright, I spun to face my attacker...or in this case attackers.
"Hey Cassie" Amy purred, her eyes trained on my like a predator, "what are you up to huh?" though her words sounded innocent, I knew she was fishing for something.
The other two girls were silent, it had been Maxi that had shoved me, now she looked away like she had nothing to do with this conversation.
"Hey Amy, Maxi and..?" I looked at the girl, she was plain, skinny and freckled he black hair was short and she had something quiet about her, like she didn't actually want to be there.
"Oh this is Faria, she's a little shy, but she's good to run errands." Amy filled in like she was mute, the girl blushed at Amy's cruel blunt words.
"Hello Faria, your hair's lovely." I smiled, and she returned it, probably the first kind thing she'd heard from anyone all day.
"Back to me Cassie!" Amy spat, clicking her fingers at me, I sighed looking back at her.
"Sorry Hi Amy, what the hell do you want?" I smiled, fluttering my eyelashes, she'd better make this quick I hadn't seen Luce yet, but I wasn't looking to spend lunch with the guy.
"Well I was just wondering about the new kid, I saw you guys chatting, and I want to know more." She smirked.
"And?" I pressed.
"I want to make a claim on him, so stay the f**k away." She stated bluntly.
"But first what did he tell you?" her eyes betraying her curiosity, to be fair I didn't want anything to do with him, I wasn't looking for drama and he gave off the aura of trouble.
"His name is Luce short for Lucius, He is nosey, he has black hair and green eyes, the end." I replied, she seemed disappointed in the lack of information, lunch, I thought.
"And.." Amy's eyes sparked "He will be in the back corner of the lunch room today, near the vending machine." as I said the words, it was like a looney tune, nothing but beep beep and goodbye as she left in a trail of dust.
I watched as her blonde curls melted into the crowd, followed by Maxi's Brown head of hair and Faria's black head of hair swishing.
I made my escape too, striding over to my locker, shoving my books in, I looked at my watch 10 minutes of lunch wasted on them, f**k me.
I grabbed my bag, containing my wallet and headed to the fuel station next to the school, there wasn't enough time now to go to maccas, so I headed for an ice coffee and take away chicken instead.
I knew I'd made a mistake when I got to my next class, P.E.
Coming out of the change rooms and into the gym, I saw him standing there looking pissed.
Luce.
I pretended not to notice him, about to pass him, he grabbed my arm, the touch sending sparks down my arm.
"We need to talk." Is all he said, I strained against him, but as they say sometimes anger can give you extra strength and Luce looked angry.
I watched as the teacher and then rest of the class began oblivious, as I was dragged out of the gym through the side door into the sun.
I followed reluctantly as Luce lead me to the trees at the furthest end of the oval.
He finally stopped, when we were in the shade of the trees, letting go of my hand, he began to pace.
I stood staring, geez what was his problem, most guys would of loved to have Amy's attention.
He stopped pacing, he straighten, running his hand through his hair.
"Goddamn it Cassie, why didn't you meet me for lunch? Did you send that crazy b***h to my table?" He asked, clearly very annoyed.
I shrugged.
"I didn't feel like spending lunch with you, I'm not looking for friends, And she was looking for a particular type on friend." I waggled my eyebrows, letting my eyes roam from his head to his feet and back up.
I could see why the girls are drooled, Luce was a golden god, his chiseled features aside, what else I hadn't noticed in class was.
He stood about 6.2ft in height, his arms were toned, his muscular chest straining beneath the white button down shirt, his rolled up sleeves tight around his biceps, he was fit and only now, my situation finally dawned on me.
"Why did you need to talk to me right now?" my voice sounded calm and confident but my heart had quickened at the words.
Everyone was in class now, no one knew where I was and I didn't know this guy from a bar of soap.
"I'd wanted to spend lunch with you, you could at least decline rather than not show, and two, I'm not looking to be that particular type of friend." He replied, then his eyes darkened. "at least not to her." he added.
My heart skipped a beat, I bit my lip nervously, as he took a step towards me, I swallowed, something about Luce made my stomach flutter.
There was only 2 feet between us now, when I heard a door slam open.
"Cassie! Cassie Morning! Lucius! Lucius Fallen!"
I spun from Luce, to the open door of the gym, where Mr Bourke stood, he was red faced, scanning the area, luckily he couldn't see us beneath the trees, neither of us moved, so as not to attract his attention.
After a long minute he returned inside, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
I felt Luce come up behind me, wrapping his arms around me, he pulled me against him, his chest on my back.
I felt his hot breath in my ear as he leaned down, my heart picked up again, I went dead still.
"This isn't over Cassiel." He hissed in my ear, want for him flooded through my body in that moment, I clenched my legs.
He chuckled, sending vibrations though his body, and sending shivers down my spine.
Luce unwrapped his arms, I looked over me shoulder as he shoved his hands in his pockets, he stepped around me walking back towards the gym, he threw up a hand over his shoulder.
I sank to the ground.
There was that name again.
