The Truth Unveiled
Since I was a kid I had always known that I had something special, something that other’s couldn’t understand, not even my parents. They would tell me that I was imagining things, that there weren’t any fairies or magic and the whispers I heard weren’t real. No one believed me, so I slowly started pretending to be someone I was not, I stopped talking about the things that only I could see because others couldn’t and so they never believed me. “Finally our Elvanor has grown up, she doesn’t talk about flying fairies anymore.” I was the youngest out of my three siblings, and my two brothers worked in the palace and were deeply respected. Sometimes I would envy them, because I felt unseen. I guess that was the reason why no one took my word seriously, so I kept everything inside me until one day when a light guided me into the depths of the forest and in the middle of the deep forest, I saw a book that was glowing so brightly that it blinded my eyes for a few seconds. I approached it and just as I was about to touch it, I felt a sudden current which made my whole body shiver. I tried again but felt another electric shock and this time the intensity had increased. It was like something was guarding the book, a strong force that wouldn’t even let me touch the book. “Elvanor!” I heard a whisper, but it didn’t startle me. I was used to these whispers, I have been hearing them since I was a kid. It wasn’t a scary voice, but a soft one of a women. Her voice felt like honey to ears. “Think about the happiest moment of your life, the moment when you felt the most alive and grab the book with good intention and not with greed.” I knew what I had to do now, I reminisced the most beautiful memory of my life, the day Prince Caspian was enthroned. There were fireworks everywhere and people danced together. I had never seen anything like that, it was amazing. I smiled at all the memories that played inside my head, I opened my eyes and reached for the book. This time I didn’t feel anything and as soon as in picked it up, the light vanished and I could see it’s content clearly. “Enchanting Realms.” These words were in carved on the book and it had a strange symbol below it. I traced the symbol with my finger, and felt a strange feeling. The next day I had decides to visit the Council of Elders in the palace, I was determined to find the truth behind all the whispers I had been hearing as a child and now this book suddenly came into existence. The sun was saying goodbye for the day, making the sky glow with warm colors as I walked in the palace gardens. I held the old book close to me, feeling its weight and secrets. It was like a treasure waiting to be found. I walked with a purpose, my heart excited and my mind racing. The book talked about magical places that were hard to believe. But the words on the pages made me want to believe in them. I thought about the glowing forests, the sparkling lakes, and the magical creatures under the moon’s light. But the book also warned about a bad darkness that could hurt these special places. The prophecy written on it’s pages was enough to send shivers through everyone. I was on my way to see the Council of Elders. They were wise mages who knew a lot about our world. They could help me understand what the book meant. I went through the big door into the palace’s courtyard. This was where the important people gathered. I knocked on the door of the library where I knew I’d find at least one of the members. “Oh-Elvanor, what are you doing here child? You’re not here to ask about the whispers and the fairies again, are you?” the old man said. I knew him, he was Master Murphy, the oldest member of the Council of Elders. It wasn’t the first time, I came to ask about something like this. I’ve come here before a countless times, and every time I asked anything about the magic realm, the members laughed at my silly questions, except Master Murphy. He never made fun of me, instead he told me to wait for the right time. I was hopeful this time, hopeful that it was time to get my answers. “I found a book, Master. In the middle of the forest, it was glowing. I had never seen anything like it before.” “What! Elvanor, are you sure it wasn’t a dream,” he asked me, leaving everything he was working on and was now only focusing on me. “It wasn’t. Look, I have it with me. I’m not lying,” I show him the book I had tightly held until now. He looked at me in disbelief. He gently grabbed the book from my hand and placed it on the wooden table, we sat facing each other and that’s when he told me something I was dying to hear from someone, anyone. “So it’s true, the Enchanting Realm isn’t just a myth. It’s real.” All my life, I thought I was crazy. I thought I wasn’t normal like others, the whispers kept compelling me to the woods but I tried to not hear any of it. “You knew,” I ask with tears and sadness in my eyes, “ You always had, didn’t you. Then why did you kept quiet when others made fun of me.” “I’m sorry, my child. I’m sorry, I wasn’t sure about anything. Sixty years ago, when I was a child, people used to tell stories about our ancestors, how they used to live in harmony with faes and werewolves until the war happened,” he explained, I took in his every word. “The war?” I asked. Our kingdom made an agreement with other kingdoms for peace and prosperity of everyone that there wouldn’t ne any war and it’s been centuries since a war had happened. “Yes my child, greed spread among the three kingdoms and war was declared. Everything was shattered in that war, the trust the harmony, in the humans were blamed for the war and the other two kingdoms decided that it would be better to close the door of their realm.” “But why do I keep hearing these whispers when everything had ended,” I asked curiously. “There’s a Prophecy. The two kingdoms would try to take their revenge, and that’s when the Child Of Moon will bring peace by the use of his powers. But-,” he paused and cleared his throat. “If the powers are used for evil purpose then it could destroy all three kingdoms.”
