Chapter Eight I can't believe I'm back here again. Or that I have to be. The shock of what I'm about to witness is less this time, which I suppose is a good thing, but it has the unexpected side effect of making sure I pick up on all the things I missed the last time. A waft of stale fried food and dried sweat drifts past me, almost hiding the stench of dried blood which I can smell even in the entrance hall. I'm not sure how that's possible, given the cages are in the other room. The blood I drank before coming curdles in my stomach. Maybe it was a bad idea to drink. I thought it might help for when the fights get going and blood gets spilt, but it's already backfiring. I step into the queue for programs behind a vampire with bright pink hair holding the hand of a boy of around ten. H
