Chapter Two (THE UNSPOKEN TRUTH)

Lemuel and Akira's daily routine continued ,but the air was charged with unspoken tension. They'd catch themselves stealing glances at each other,their conversations lingering on the edge of something more.

As they worked on a group project, Akira's hand brushed against Lemuel's, sending shivers down his spine. He turned to get spaced out,his eyes locking onto hers,and for a moment they just stared. Lemuel's heart was racing,but he didn't dare move. Akira's eyes sparkled and she quickly looked away,her cheeks flushing.

The thoughts of losing Lemuel if she tells Lemuel how she feels keeps ringing bells into her,But what if she's wrong?? What If it ruins their friendship??

As they took a break, Lemuel mastered courage to ask Akira to grab coffee with him. They sat down at a quiet table,and Lemuel couldn't help but notice Akira's eyes and how pretty she is.

Lemuel: "Akira can I ask something??

He asked with a little softer voice than usual. Akira's eyes met his and she nodded.

Lemuel: Do you .........do you feel it too??

Lemuel said with his heart pounding in his chest.

Akira's smiled flattered ,and she looked down,her voice barely above a whisper.

Akira: Feel what?? ( Pretending she doesn't know what Lemuel is trying to ask?)

Lemuel's heart sank,but he pressed on he tried saying it again?? "This.......thing between us. It's like we're dancing around each other, and I'm not sure what's really going on "..

Akira's eyes snapped to his,and for a moment they just stared.

Akira: I feel it too, she said with her voice trembling. But I'm scared Lemuel. What if we love each other and it doesn't work out? We'll lose each other and we'll become strangers"I don't want to lose ya.

He felt same fears too ,but he knew he had to be honest about his feelings.

Lemuel: I've been thinking about that too, but I think the risk will definitely be worth it. I don't want to be your best friend anymore, Akira I want to be something more than just your bestie, i want more.

Akira: I want to be more than your friend too but I'm afraid of the outcome,what if something happens??

Lemuel: Can we skip been afraid and give it a try. Let's take a risk

Akira couldn't let go off her fears and the thoughts of losing the only person she finds peace with. As they sat there,the world around them melted away they knew they were on the precipice of something life changing . The words hung in the air, Lemuel's heart was about to burst, he couldn't believe Akira felt same. Without thinking much he reached out and took Akira's hand,his finger intertwining hers. The touch sent down spine,and he knew he couldn't let go off what's inside him.

Akira's eyes locked onto his and she smiled,her face radiant with emotion." I've wanted you to do that for long'. She whispered. Lemuel's heart skipped a beat,he leaned in,his lips brushing Akira's sending sparks flying through his body. The world around them melted away and all of them were lost in their own world. As they pulled back for air, Akira's eyes shone with tears."I'm scared Lemuel what if " she couldn't hold back the tears,she leaned onto Lemuel.

Lemuel: I'm scared too but calm your nerves down, you're getting too scared. There's no harm in trying something new, let's figure this out together.

Akira was scared but still manage to answer Lemuel.

Akira: Let's get it together.

Lemuel: Let's overcome this fear together cause I'm also afraid to lose ya.

They sat there,hands entwined the unspoken connections now a burning fire. They knew it wouldn't be easy but they're willing to take the risk. As they walked out of the cafe Lemuel turned to Akira and asked " So what's next" ??

Akira's eyes sparkled"Let's start with more dates"?. Lemuel grinned, "Great minds think alike "I had that in mind too.

Their laughter echoed through the streets they knew their friendship was about to be something more. As they walked hand in hand,the weight of their confession settled in. The excitement and thrill of taking the leap began to wear off, replaced by the daunting reality of the unknown.

Lemuel's mind was a whirlwind of questions. "What if they're not meant to be more than just friends? What if their relationship ruined the foundation of their friendship? The doubts crept in he couldn't shake them off. Akira was also lost in her own thoughts. As they reached Akira's hostel,she stopped and turned to Lemuel,her eyes troubled, Lemuel's heart sank.

Lemuel: What's wrong?? You look troubled?

Akira hesitated,her voice barely above a whisper.

Akira: I'm scared, Lemuel. What if we try and it doesn't work.

Lemuel's chest tightened cause he was also feeling the same fears,but didn't want to think much of it. He pulled Akira into a gentle hug, holding her close.

Lemuel: We'll figure it out? We'll take it a step at a time. We'll make it work.

He tried to reassure her and himself that everything was going to work prefectly fine. Akira nodded but Lemuel could feel the tension in her body. He knew she wasn't convinced about it. Lemuel felt a very bigger tension in everything that's happening. As he pulled back, Akira's eyes searched his,"Promise me, Promise me this wouldn't ruin our friendship".

Lemuel's heart ached,he wanted to promise her the world but he couldn't guarantee what the future holds.

Lemuel: I promise we'll try,cause I can't guarantee what the future holds for us,so let's give it a try cause I was taught to try new things.

Akira felt those words Lemuel said and understood the guy was also in pain and also need that assurance as well.

Before Akira left to her hostel,she gave Lemuel a soft and gentle kiss on his lips, Lemuel couldn't hold back and kissed her back..

The days turned into a blur of stolen glances secret touches and hushed conversations Lemuel and Akira navigated their new found feelings,but the uncertainty hung over them like a dark cloud. Lemuel couldn't shake the feeling that they were living in a dream,and it would come crashing down. He'd catch himself lost in Akira's eyes only to be brought back to reality. What if this doesn't work out??

Akira seemed to be feeling the strain too, she'd withdrawn her usual fun self and suddenly, she'd withdrawn lost in her thoughts.

One Evening, as they sat down together Lemuel's room ,the tension became too much. Akira stood up her eyes flushing with a mix if frustration and fear.

Akira: I can't do it anymore, I can't pretend everything is fine.

Lemuel: Can you trust in what we have and hold for each other.

Akira: I just can't keep doing this,I can't lose you,you're my everything.

Lemuel couldn't hold onto the words from Akira it hurt but he drew Akira close to him during the moment of mixed emotions they both broke down crying but Lemuel had to try hard and be strong though it hurts but he mustered courage to talk to Akira.

Lemuel: We'll work it out,I promise we won't lose each other, we'll make it work.

Akira: Having you as a best friend and someone I can talk to,is literally the best thing that happened to me.

Lemuel: Same here, I'm glad we crossed path cause you've been my motivation everytime I'm down,and you're part of the people I'll risk anything for.

Akira:We first met us strangers and I was feeling reluctant to bond with you,you were a top student and a lot of girls dream guy. But I've you all to myself now, I'm living the dream of some girls.

Lemuel: You're making me blush OMG!!!

Of course you're worth having me all to yourself.

Akira: Let's make a promise.

Lemuel: what promise??
