Bonded Souls

Adalynn POV The Alpha King’s territory is all of the United States northeast, from Maine’s north border across Minnesota, including parts of Canada, down to Kentucky, and east to the Atlantic Ocean. We live in the upper New York area, and many of our pack members work in the King’s businesses on and off-pack territory. Although the packs rely on one another for various resources, the Alpha King owns numerous businesses that operate in the human realm. The success of his enterprises supports his kingdom, which benefits all of us in multiple ways. Many years ago, before my time, the Alpha King summoned all the pack alphas to his kingdom to negotiate a peace treaty between the packs. They were all escorted to the castle and led to his stateroom. The King demanded that they all sit and work out their problems to make peace, and he would help in any way possible. The Alphas argued and fought over who or what started the war for several days. Who killed first and on and on. After several weeks of negotiations and getting nowhere, the King, fed up with their bullshit, slammed his hands on the table, “Shut the hell up”! His voice thundered, vibrating the entire room. He was tired of the bitching, whining, and finger-pointing. “You are acting like spoiled pups.” He stood from his seat, pointed to the alphas, and demanded, “Work it out and work it out now; you will regret it if I have to do it for you. You will stay in this room until you agree to work together and live peacefully. You are destroying your packs, members, and everything we have stood for thousands of years”. With a stern expression, the King stormed towards the exit. His voice echoed with a chilling warning: “I will not hesitate to replace you. Do not challenge me!” As he went out the door, he slammed it so hard that he cracked the frame. The crack is still there to this day. As expected, the next few days saw a significant shift in several pack hierarchies. The King, not one to leave things to chance, dispatched his wolves to assume the roles of alphas and other high-ranking positions in the packs. He decreed that wolves of royal lineage would now occupy the higher echelons of all packs in his domain through strategic alliances or force if the peace treaty were disregarded. I don’t know how old the King is, but he has to be at least 300 years old. It is common for royal-blooded wolves to live several hundred years. Usually, the first-born child was the kingdom’s heir, but the King sent his only two sons to alpha positions to strengthen these packs and get them back on the right path. They find their mates and the packs happy and peaceful. It was many years before his Queen had another pup. But she had another boy, Jasper. The King promised her he wouldn’t send him to another pack. He would be the next King, and this made his Queen happy. Life within the Red Dawn Pack is both challenging and rewarding. Our pack, consisting of roughly three hundred members, resides within the boundaries of the Black Moon River, a territory shared with several other small packs under the King’s domain. Our proximity to the King’s headquarters is not by choice but by necessity. The Red Dawn Pack was moved closer to the King’s territory due to our significant losses in the wars. These losses have left a lasting impact on our community, fostering a sense of resilience and unity among our members.
