Maverick’s POV I’m with my parents taking a walk through the pack territory when one of our warriors come running over to us. “Alpha, there is a witch and a Seer at the south border claiming to know where your Luna is and wants to talk to you. The witch said her name is Alexis Lightwood.” He explains “That’s Theodore’s daughter. Last I heard he had passed down his duties to her. Let them in at once!” My dad orders “Right away Councilman Danvers.” The warrior answers before linking the others and heading back. After my parents stepped down they became apart of the council. Every now and again my mom takes care of the Luna duties. I’m glad we are getting somewhere is Arya though, I know she’s tired and ready to retire. I link the warriors reminding them to bring our guests to the office so we can have some privacy. Once in the office I break down the middle wall to make more room and pull the couch a little closer to my desk. I have Omegas bring up sandwiches and other snacks and some bottled water. I’m really hoping they have some good news for me. Shortly after I get everything situated, there’s a knock on the door before my parents walk in with the guests. It sounds like my father has been catching up on everything with his friend and enjoying hearing that things are going good for him. “Well Alexis this is my son, Alpha Maverick. We are all eager to hear what you know about his mate.” He says “I assure you she has been doing well.” She says as her and her friend take a seat. “Oh and please call me Lexi. This here is my friend Angel. He is apart of the board for the safe house and is a Seer. Arya has been staying at the safe house ever since leaving her old pack. She explained how things were there and I must say I’m disappointed in how they handled that whole situation.” She explains. You can hear the touch of bitterness she holds towards Red Moon Pack and I honestly don’t blame her. “There is however, something you should know about her before we decide if coming here is what’s best for her, no offense directed towards you or anything.” She continues. “Is it life threatening?” My mother asks, clearly concerned. “Not at all.” Alexis continues. “She is actually very powerful and special. You see, Arya is a dragon.” She states “That’s impossible, Dragons have been long gone for thousands of years!” My dad exclaims “Wait, dragons were a thing?” I ask. I can’t believe what I’m hearing right now. “Yes hun, they were the most coveted species too. Everyone wanted a dragon in their territory.” My mom explains. “There was one family of dragons that were protectors for the King and Queen even.” My mother says dreamily “And that’s the bloodline she’s from. The Tanaka bloodline.” Angel finishes. “You’re joking!” My mother gasps. “And you’ve seen her dragon? What does it look like? What can she do?” My mother exclaims “Yes we have seen her dragon…and her wolf.” Lexi finishes. “She has both?” I ask. I can’t help but to swell with pride at my mate. She’s gonna do great things. “Yes. She’s an obsidian dragon, which means she can do just about everything. She’s been training non stop and has unleashed all kinds of power. She’s definitely capable of what all the Goddess has planned for her. And it’s a lot.” Angels explains. “But I’m sure with the right people by her side, she will accomplish anything.” He finishes. “We just want to prepare you for what’s to come once she moves here. You’ll become a target once people find out about her.” Lexi warns “Right…is there a way to mask her scent? At least until we are sure she’s safe here. I don’t wanna wait any longer to meet my mate.” I confess. It’s been far too long. “Yes we have everything she will need once she moves here.” Lexi explains. “There is one other thing, our other board leader Jax is an elf…and her sire. It’s expected that he will want to visit frequently, if not move here too.” She says “Sire?” I question. “What the hell is that?”. Whatever it is I feel like I’m not gonna like it at all. “It’s the elves version of a mate. They only difference there is as long as she lives, so will he. It also isn’t always a romantic relationship. Sometimes they just share a strong bond as friends, sometimes it’s a little of both. Elves are always sired to a dragon, he will always be with her.” Angel explains. Yep. I don’t like it. “So you’re saying I’ll have to share her? There’s no way around it?” I question “Maverick!” My mother hisses “Sires are a sacred thing. There’s no rejecting a sire bond, it’s a permanent thing. Plus, for all you know it could just be a friendship. And even if it is romantic, there’s nothing you can do to stop it.” She continues. “Why would the Goddess mate me with someone I have to share?” I pout. I know I’m being a baby but it sucks. “Selene always has a reason for what she does, it’s best to trust her plan.” My dad adds “I suppose you’re right…it’s just a lot to take in I guess.” I confess. “How soon can they be here?” “We can head back and let them know the plan right now.” Lexi says “Good! I can’t wait to see her again.” I smile. We finish with our goodbyes and I have a warrior escort them off the territory. I immediately start making plans for a remodel for my floor in the pack house. I make sure this Jax guy has his own separate room connected to where me and Arya will be sleeping. I’m really not thrilled about sharing her but I’ll at least give it a shot. My dad is right, the Goddess always has a plan. I’m suddenly pulled out my thoughts when there is a knock on my door. “Come in.” I say. I look up and see my mother coming in. “Are you alright?” She asks. “It’s a lot to take in but I’ll keep an open mind about it. I’m pretty excited about the dragon part though. I’d love to see one in person.” I say “OH MY GODDESS ME TOO!” My mom yells. “I remember taking a course on them at the Academy I attended. They had all kinds of books about them! My friends had to literally drag me out of the library one time!” She laughs. I always love hearing about her life before my dad. My mom used to be human until she met my dad. He saved her life after she was brutally attacked by some assholes at the school she attended. He had to change her in order to do that and as soon as the transformation was done he discovered she was his mate. That’s when she was sent to the academy to learn all she could about the supernatural world and she basically turned into a genius. “I wonder what she’s like.” She said absentmindedly. “I hope that pack didn’t turn her cold, it would be a shame.” She says “She didn’t seem that way when we met her.” I defend “We talked to her for not even 5 minutes. She could’ve just been being polite.” She says, “What if she doesn’t like us?!” She says slightly panicked. “Don’t do that mom. You always get anxious and jittery about these things, I’m sure she’ll like us just fine.” I convince her, although I might be trying to convince myself too. I just hope the pack accepts her. I don’t want her feeling like she did at her old pack, she’s important. I start getting prepared to head down to dinner so I can let the pack know that we have found her and that she will be arriving any day now. I just hope they are as excited as I am.
