The Journey Home

Arya’s POV

That was close! I have so many thoughts running through my mind, I don’t know how to feel. I fly through the sky just enjoying the feel of the wind against me. I don’t even care if someone sees me this is just so peaceful.

“I remember when dragons flew freely through the skies.” Onyx reminisces, “I’ve missed this so much.” She sighs.

I decide to just keep flying until I can’t anymore. I fly by enjoying the view of the forest beneath me, when I notice a lake not far away and head in that direction. I fly over it letting one of my talons grave right above it before finally taking a dive under. I float along for a bit, enjoying the peace and quiet when I hear the sound of a child crying in the distance. I fly out of the lake back over the forest towards the sound. I land in the forest in my wolf form, running towards the child as fast as I can. I finally approach a clearing and I find a little girl who looks to be around 8 surrounded by three rogues. She is backing away from them, crying, her wild curly brown hair bouncing around her tear-streaked face. She is in a green dress that matches her eyes with black boots covered in sunflowers. She gets up to run away only to trip over a small log.

“Get away from her!” Me and shadow yell at them through their minds. They jump out of shock at me being able to communicate with them like that. The only wolves you can do that with is your pack, not even rogues can communicate with each other. Only what I hear in their minds stun me.

Rogue 1: Did you guys hear that?

Rogue 2&3: Yea how the hell is that possible?

Rogue 1: She must be a special wolf.

Rogue: What if it’s the dragon?

“It doesn’t matter what I am, leave the girl ALONE!” Shadow growls. We start releasing just enough of our aura to scare them away, but not enough for them to tell what I am. Their eyes get big and they start running away. Heh, that wasn’t hard. I slowly approach the girl until I get right in front of her. I lay down on my side and look up to her so she knows I’m not threat.

“Well your super cute!” She giggles, “my name is Topanga. My parents named me after some show they used to watch as kids.” She explains with a shrug. What’s your name?”

“My name is Shadow, and my human is named Arya.” Shadow links her. Her eyes go really big and her mouth hangs open slightly.

“Whoa! How did you do that Shadow?!” She exclaims.

“I’m a special wolf.” Shadow giggles, “Where is your family?” Shadow asks

“My parents are still at the pack. I bet they’re worried about me. I was in the forest looking for flowers and must have got too far when the rogues found me!” She explains

“Do you know which way to get back?” Shadow asks. She nods her head and points in the opposite direction that the rogues went. I motion for her to climb on my back and proceed to head in that direction once she’s on. After about 30 minutes we arrive to the pack border and are greeted by the guards.

“Who are you and what is your business here?” One of the warrior says as he steps forward

“Luke!” Topanga yells as she sticks her head from around my fur.

“Topanga! We have been looking everywhere for you!” Luke yells. He commands the warriors to let us through and leads us towards the pack house.

“The Alpha and Luna will be so grateful for you finding their daughter, they were about to alert the authorities right before you got here!” He explains. As we approach the pack house a woman with similar wild brown curly hair comes running out screaming Topanga’s name.

“Mom!” Topanga yells before hopping off of me and running to her. They are busy hugging each other when a large man walks towards me. He’s got blonde hair and green eyes like Topanga. He gives Topanga and lingering hug before he turns to me.

“Shift.” He commands. I can tell he is using his Alpha tone. It has no effect on me but I shift back anyway. His Luna and Topanga gasp loudly when they see I’ve shifted back still fully clothed.

“I can sense all the power you’re masking, what are you?” He asks. I was not expecting him to be able to do that.

“My name is Arya and…I’m a dragon.” I says hesitantly.

“No you’re not! You’re a wolf!” Topanga yells

“Shhh munchie!” The Luna chastises.

“Please, come inside.” He says before he walks towards the house. I follow him and his family inside. As soon as I get close I notice the Luna has ocean blue eyes and light freckles on her face. When I get inside there is an older boy, maybe around 15 inside. He has blonde hair like his father but blue eyes like his mother and light freckles as well.

“My name is Alpha Zach, this is my Luna Chloe, my son Jesse and of course you’ve met Topanga.” He says

“It’s a pleasure to meet you! I’m glad I was in the lake when I was.” I say as I look at Topanga with a smile.

“We are so glad you were too! I was worried sick about my little munchie!” Jesse says

“Jesse take your sister upstairs. Me and your mother need to talk to our guest.” Alpha Zach says

“Yes sir.” Jesse answers and walks away with Topanga.

“Bye Arya! Bye Shadow!” Topanga waves at us. As soon as they disappear the Alpha looks at me with a stern look.

“So it’s true? Dragons has returned?” He asks

“Yes, although it’s just me.” I say smiling, ignore the thoughts of Orion in my head. “I was just captured by someone that is after me and I escaped when I heard Topanga calling for help.” I explain

“Someone captured you?!” Chloe gasps

“Yes, but I got away unharmed.” I reassure her.

“I just wanted to make sure she got back safely before I head back home.” I continue

“Won’t you stay for dinner? I wouldn’t feel right letting you leave with nothing…” Luna Chloe said.

“No it’s alright, her safety is enough. I should head back before my mates get too worried.” I explain

“Mates? Oh my…” Chloe says as a light blush spreads across her face. I quickly get up before they see my matching one and say my goodbyes. Not long after I’m back in the sky flying home.

2 hours later…

I’m laying here on the bed just enjoying the silence. Well, silence aside from Maverick lightly snoring into my neck. When I got back and told them what all happened, I wanted to lay down for a bit to get some time to really think everything over. The plan was to get some alone time but Maverick and Jax have been on edge since I was taken and wouldn’t let me be alone. So, here I am snuggled by a huge man. Monica and Jasmine both cried angry & happy tears when I got back and swore they would never let me out of their sights again. After dinner we talked over our next strategy. Now that we know what his plan is we can prepare for it better. I know Onyx hates it, but if need be we will put Orion down before he does something drastic. I’ve tried reaching out to her a few times but she never answers

“Maybe she just needs time…” Shadow whispers

Maybe. I just wish she’d talk to us so I know what’s running through her head. Just then Monica comes running in the room I’m resting in looking frantic.

“What Monica? What’s wrong?!” I ask

“Alpha Cortez is here…” she pants
