SCARLETT ROSE The road ahead of us seems endless, each kilometer adding a greater weight to my chest. Amber drives with focus, but I can feel the tension in her body. Her hands grip the steering wheel so tightly that the knuckles are white, and the silence between us is filled only by the sound of the engine and my restless thoughts. I hold the gun Amber gave me, feeling its weight in the palm of my hand. I try to ignore the fact that my hands are still shaking slightly.
