CHAPTER 105

2141 Words

SCARLETT ROSE The images around me vanish, as if the entire world is dissolving into a thick, cold mist. My body feels like it’s floating, lost in an absolute void. There’s no light, no sound, only a strange sensation that I’m caught between the real and the unreal. "Kieran?", My voice echoes in the emptiness, so faint I barely recognize it as my own. A moment of silence drags on, and I think maybe I didn’t reach him. Maybe he’s too far away. Then, a shadow emerges in the distance. "Scarlett?", His voice is faint but unmistakable. My knees almost give out at the sound of it. I run toward him, even though I’m not sure my feet are touching the ground. With every step, the shadow becomes more defined. Kieran is there, standing, but he looks lost, as if he’s on the verge of disappearing.
