I am sitting on the floor of the cabin, my arms around my knees, my eyes fixed on Kieran's lifeless body. Dimitri is beside me, his eyes also filled with concern, but he tries to stay calm, at least on the surface.
"Scarlett. You need to breathe. He’s still here. The battle is not over.", he begins, his voice soft and gentle.
I shake my head, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.
"I can't lose him.", I respond, almost inaudible.
"I just can't."
Dimitri sighs, kneeling beside me and placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"He’s the most stubborn man I’ve ever met.", he says with a slight smile.
