chapter 5lolaPOV:veryone is looking at a five-foot-seven girl with ripped clothes, leaves in her hair, and blisters on her feet. They're looking at me.Israel pulls away from the lady wrapped around him like a snake and starts walking towards me, ignoring the thousand pairs of eyes looking at him as he approaches me. He stops in front of me and....smiles. He f*****g smiles at me.My mouth drops open in shock as my eyes widen to saucer. "What are you doing out here, Lola?" He picks out a lone leave from my hair and drops it on the spotless floor. "Did you manage to sneak out again to play in the woods?"At those words, my shock turns into confusion. What is he talking about? Before I can open my mouth to voice out my question, Israel turns his attention to the crowd still watching us. "I'm so sorry for the interruption everyone. She happens to be the niece of my chef and needs some special attention. She manages to sneak out now and then but we're trying the best we can." He says all this with a soft smile on his lips that turns sympathetic when he looks down at me.I blink at him, stunned beyond belief as the crowd breaks out into awes with literal stars glittering in their eyes. I even catch a few "he's so amazing," along with some "he's the perfect Alpha." Along with those came some, "poor child."All the while, I stare still, my feet cemented to the ground in shock."Everyone, please go back to the party and enjoy yourself," Israel says, waving his hand in the air to dismiss the situation. As if done by a magician, everyone turns their gaze away from us and the chatter continues. No one even questions why I screamed out no. Not even the lady who's now his fiancee.Israel takes my hand, that smile still fixed on his face. "Come with me. I'll take you back to your room." His grip digs into my arm, taking away the illusion of my thinking I have a choice in this. He drags me away from watchful eyes and up the stairs, not stopping until we get to his room where he opens the door and pushes me in.I stumble on my feet, barely stopping myself from planting my face on the floor. I turn around just as Israel closes the door behind us and turns to face me with a hateful glare. "What do you this you're doing?"I'm still having a hard time putting my words together but I manage to find my tongue. "You're marrying her?" I just wish my words didn't come out sounding as wounded as I felt.Israel pauses, looking at me from the tip of my head down to the sole of my feet with his brows pinched together. "There's something different about you."I ignore his words, the anger inside me bursting at the seam. "You're going to marry her when I'm your fated mate."His eyes widen in shock. "You got your wolf." It's not really a question but I answer it anyway."Yes, I did." Walking closer to him. "I also found out that the person who has been abusing me for years happens to be my mate. Then an hour later, I find out that he's marrying someone else."Several emotions flicker in his eyes; surprise, amusement, and something that looks like...happiness? But then they're gone and it settles on one. Anger. "Can you blame me for doing that?" His eyes flash. "You're an Omega. The weakest one I've ever met. There's no way that I'm going to make you my Luna."He continues, ripping into me like a lion with a fresh kill."You would be the weak link of the pack. An easy target for anyone looking to attack us. You would put us all in danger."My eyes sting as my chest rips open. A tear rolls down my eyes which I quickly wipe away. "But I'm your fated mate," I whisper weakly."It doesn't matter. You will never make a good Luna for my pack," he answers strongly. My heart rips again, this time into several tiny pieces that I have no hope of ever putting together. "Did you know?" I look up at him, my vision blurry from the tears in my eyes. "Did you know that I was your mate?" It's a stupid question but I need to hear his answer."Yes, I did."My wolf whines, pulling away from me and shutting up, pulling up a barrier between us that I didn't even know was possible to do. He knew. He knew I was his mate and he treated me the way he did throughout these years. "I Alpha Israel of Silver Moon Pack reject you, Omega Lola of Silver Moon Pack," he says evenly, his face hard with determination. A teardrop rolls down my eyes as I feel the tear of a connection that I didn't even know was there. It leaves me feeling empty and incomplete like I'm missing a part of me which I don't know how to get back."Don't even think of coming back to the party," Israel says, pushing past me and heading for the door.I still haven't moved an inch from my spot, my gaze fixed on the spot that he was just occupying.I faintly hear the door opening and shutting but I still don't make a sound or make an attempt to leave his room. Then the dam breaks and I collapse to my knees, clutching my chest as tears flow freely from my eyes. Why does it hurt so bad?
