                                                                                Chapter Seven

Corey goes to the kitchen to pour Katie a glass of water than head upstairs; he gives Katie the glass of water; Katie ask her father "Daddy who was that man?" "Was that one of uncle Ramon's friend?" Corey sits down on Katie's bed "No honey, that was just one of my student from school, he was just asking me about an assignment I asked them to do." "Oh, he dresses like uncle Ramon." "Hey, let's not mention this to mommy alright."  "Mention what daddy?"  "You know, about my student coming by here tonight, mommy doesn't like for daddy to bring his work home with him, got it.'" "Got it, ok daddy I promise I won't tell mommy." "Alright, that's my girl," Corey kisses her on the forehead and takes her glass than tucks her into bed. Corey slowly closes Katie door and blows her a kiss, he slowly open Aaron's door to look in on him than he walks quietly to his and Janice's room. He goes into the bathroom and jumps in the shower, Janice is sound asleep; Corey dries himself off than walks over and kisses his wife while whispering Happy Birthday to her in her ear. He lies down next to her and sighs a heavy sigh as he closes his eyes and falls asleep. 

The next morning Corey is up and goes downstairs to prepare breakfast while Janice is still sleeping. Janice wakes up and smells the bacon cooking and coffee brewing, she slowly gets up, she grabs her head, her head is pounding. She slowly walks to the bathroom washes her face and brushes her teeth. She grabs her robe and heads to the kids room to see were they up. But Aaron and Katie weren't in their rooms, they were downstairs with their father, Corey yells out to her. "Honey we are downstairs, come down to breakfast." Janice slowly walks down the stairs with her head pounding, she just wants to go back to bed. As Janice slowly walks into the kitchen she was surprise to see Corey and the kids holding a birthday banner and screaming "Happy Birthday", she smiles and goes and sits at the table, "but my birthday was on yesterday," Janice starts to cry, Katie walks over to her mom and ask her "What's wrong mommy?" "Don't you like your birthday breakfast that me, daddy and Aaron made for you?" Janice shakes her head and grabs Katie and sits her in her lap, "yes baby I love it, mommy is just so happy." Corey was standing  and smiling while holding Aaron he walks over and kisses his wife and apologizes to her for missing her birthday on yesterday, "Daddy, can we give mommy her gifts now?" Katie ask, Corey nods his head; Katie runs in the other room and brings back a beautiful bouquet of flowers they are Janice's favorite kind, Corey puts Aaron in his high chair than reaches in his pocket and pulls out a gift box and the tickets.

 Janice puts her hand over her mouth in surprise, she open the gift and sees the bracelet and the tickets she jumps up and kisses her husband a deep passionate kiss. "I thought you had forgot about my birthday," Janice says to Corey "I've been so caught up with my work that I have been neglecting my family, I have another surprise for you; today we are going to have a family day, I'm not going into work or grading any papers I am spending the whole day with my family." "I have it all planned, we are going to have a picnic at the beach and just make it a fun day." Katie jumps up and shouts "yay!" Later that afternoon Corey and his family arrives at the beach, Corey grabs the picnic basket as Janice gets Aaron and Katie out of their car seats they walk to the beach and finds a place to sit. Corey and Janice are sitting on the blanket enjoying each others company when Katie runs up to them and ask her father to come and build a sand castle with her, Corey gets up and follows Katie close to the water to gather sand. Corey and Katie are laughing and having fun until Corey looks up and sees a very familiar face. "No no no, this can't be happening,"  Corey says to himself.

Corey has a look of discuss on his face, as Corey stands up from getting sand with Katie and drops his shovel, "daddy what's wrong?" Katie ask, Corey sees Jimmy jogging towards him. "Katie, go and help mommy with lunch for me, ok." "But I thought we were going to build a sand castle," "We will baby please just do what daddy ask you;" Katie breathes hard and grabs her pale and shovel and runs back where her mother is preparing lunch for them. Jimmy runs up to Corey "well Professor funny running into you here," "Jimmy what are you doing here man?" "I told you to stay away from me and my family, what is it going to take for you to leave me and my family the hell alone!" "I told you until you give me what I want I will never leave you alone, everywhere you look and everywhere you turn I will be there." Janice ask Katie "where is your father?" Katie says to her "he is over there talking to that man that was at our house last night." "Oops, I wasn't suppose to tell you that." "Why not, who told you not to tell me?" "It was me and daddy's secret," "why did he tell you not to tell me?" "I don't know, all I know is that he is in daddy's class and he was over our house last night asking daddy about his school work," "how do you know that?" "Because I wake up looking for you and I heard daddy talking to someone and I thought it was you so, I got up and I saw him downstairs talking to daddy and daddy was yelling at him, so after he left I ask him who he was, because I thought he was one of uncle Ramon's friends that came to the house last year for thanksgiving and that's when he said it was one of his student from class." 

Janice stands up to get a better look at the person her husband is talking to; "why was he yelling at him?" She ask Katie, Katie just raised up her shoulders (in a I don't know way) Janice starts to walk closer to get a better look but just as she start to walk away Aaron starts to cry and she turns around and heads back to him. Janice picks up Aaron but still stares and try to look to see who the person was that her husband was talking to. She says to herself "he looks so familiar, I know I know him from somewhere but where?" Corey and Jimmy are still engage in their conversion, "So Professor are you going to give me what I want or am I going to have a talk with your wife?" "And as a matter of fact when I was at your house last night as I was looking at your pictures on the table, I was looking at your wedding picture I knew  I knew your wife, I have already met your wife on more than one occasion."

Corey looks at Jimmy with a strange look on his face and ask him "when did you met my wife and what did you say to her?" Jimmy smiles at Corey with a devilish smile "Now Professor, that's for me to know and you to find out, so what's it going to be Professor?" Janice calls to Corey "Corey, lunch is ready," she says while still trying to see if she can see who her husband is talking to. "Professor your wife is calling you," "Look, this is my finally and last warning don't come around my family again Jimmy, I really mean it or-or what?" Jimmy says as he get close in Corey's face. Corey slowly walks away and points his finger and says to Jimmy "you have been warned." "Oh I'm scared, you better go and join your family if you know what's good for you." Jimmy says to Corey as he walks away. 

"He doesn't know who he is dealing with, no one threatens. Jimmy Bailey."  “I guess I’m going to have to get what I want the hard way, he hasn’t seen the last of me “I’m going to make his life a living Hell!” Jimmy says to his self as he walks away staring at Corey and his family. “Corey who was that guy you were just talking to?” Janice asks “I think I know him,” “I doubt it, he is just one of my co-workers from work, um he’s new so they appointed me to show him around campus and tell him what it is to know about the campus.” Corey tells Janice; “Daddy I thought you said he was a student from your class.” "Corey looks at Katie with a smirk on his face and says "who told you that sweetheart?" "You did daddy when he was at the house last night," Janice shakes her head at Katie and puts her finger over her lips,  Janice hands Corey his plate of food; Corey hands were shaking like he was nervous about something, in which he was because he knew he was lying to his wife but he couldn’t tell her the truth because he didn’t wont her to leave him.

“Honey, are you alright?” Janice ask him “Yes why do you ask?” “Oh I don’t know but it seems like something has upset you.” “No I’m fine, I’m just thinking how lucky I am to have such a beautiful and understanding wife and kids,” he says and smiles at Janice than turns to see if Jimmy is watching them. As it starts to get late Corey tells Katie they have to get ready to leave, as they pack up their gear and heads to the van; Jimmy sits just a few feet from them in his car watching Corey and his family’s every move. As Corey helps Katie get in her car seat; he has a feeling that he is being watched so he turns and looks around the parking lot, “Corey what is it?” “Are you sure you ok?” Janice ask him once again, “Yes, I’m fine;” he goes back to helping Katie fasten her seat belt than puts the rest of the things in the van. As they get in the car and drives away Jimmy starts his car up also and drives away following behind them but not to close. As they pull up at their house Jimmy parks his car down behind a couple of cars so that Corey wouldn’t see him; they get out and walks towards the house just as they start to open the door Ramon shows up. “Hey fam, where you guys been?” Katie runs up to him and jumps in his arms “Hey ladybug;” Katie starts to tell him all about the beach.

“Hey what brings you by,” Janice ask as they kiss each other on the cheek. “I came by earlier and I tried to call you but it went straight to voicemail, I had promised Katie I was going to take her to the toy store and get ice cream today for being such a big helper last night with her auntie Rachel.” “Oh no, I clearly forgot Corey made breakfast this morning and wanted to have a family day today, I’m so sorry.” “No it’s alright, we can go another day, hello Corey.” “Hello Ramon, would you like to come in for awhile?” Ramon and Janice looks at each other in surprise, as they start to walk in a car come zooming by and blows its horn. They turn to look and see who it was Ramon screams at the car “Hey asshole, kids play on this street, so slow your ass down!” Corey gets a glance of the car he knew who it was but he says nothing and slowly closes the door.

Katie runs upstairs to her room and Corey, Janice, Aaron and Ramon heads towards the kitchen, Janice sits Aaron in his high chair and ask Ramon would he like something to drink he says yes, “no honey you finish doing what you are doing, I’ll get it.” “I don’t know what has gotten into him but lately he is being like the Corey I first fell in love with, maybe I was wrong about thinking he was having an affair,” Janice says to Ramon. Ramon smiles and says “yes maybe,” but he knew what Corey was hiding and he knew that he hasn’t said anything to his wife about it yet.

As Corey walks in with a bottle of wine and three glasses he says to Ramon, “I hope you like this, I was told it was a good brand.” Ramon is really puzzled now he is worrying is Corey trying to sucker him up to keep from telling his cousin her husband’s secret. But that didn’t stop Ramon from asking Corey “So Corey what did you do yesterday since you missed your wife’s birthday and all?’ Corey and Janice both looks at Ramon, “What I just want to know, was that wrong for me to ask?” “Well Ramon if you must know Corey was at the school grading papers all night, he had already told me when we were at the beach we had a long talk.” “Oh is that right, that's what he said?” Both of them said “yes, that is right.” Ramon just shakes his head and he and Corey makes eye contact. “Hey I know what will go good with this wine, I’ll get some cheese and crackers.” As Janice gets up to get the cheese and crackers she is interrupted by Katie who calls to her from upstairs.

“Mommy, I need your help” Katie says as she stands at the top of the stairs. “I’m sorry guys, I’ll be right back;” Janice leaves the kitchen to go to Katie. Ramon looks at Corey as he gives Aaron a cracker, “so Corey, why haven’t you told my cousin the truth?” “You just going to stick with your lies?” “No, I will tell her when the time is right,” “Hell when will the time to be right?” “You had a good chance today when you and her was talking at the beach “what are you waiting for Jimmy to show up  at your house  again and says oh hello my name is Jimmy and I’m in love with your husband,”  Corey stops and looks at Ramon "what do you mean again?" "He's been by here other than last night?" "Yes, looking for Dragon, Janice called me and told me about some man came by here looking for Dragon one day." “ And oh yes, I already know, you aren’t the only one that knows about Jimmy; me and him had a long talk about you one night I was working at the club he was saying Dragon this and Dragon that.” Corey looks down at the floor, “Corey, please don’t tell me Jimmy’s been coming around here again?” Corey nods his head; “he showed up last night after you left and today at the beach, he want leave me along.” “Something has got to be down about him.” Corey says to Ramon.

Ramon sits shaking his head and arms folded, “Corey I just have one question for you, did you ever sleep with him?” Corey takes a deep breath and slowly says “yes, yes I did,” “but it was a mistake; I was so drunk one night after the club that I didn’t know what I was doing.” “What do you mean you didn’t know what you were doing?” “We’re you drugged?” “Did Jimmy put something in your drink?” “All I remembered was he came backstage one night after the show was over and brought me a drink from the bar, I thought Ray had sent it because he usually send us drinks after the show.” “And you drunk it?” “Fool he put something in your drink, how were you feeling before you drunk the beverage?” “I was feeling fine, how did you feel after you drunk it?” “ I felt like I couldn’t hardly keep my eyes open, I felt really tied.” “Dah, he drugged your drink idiot.” “You think he put something in my drink?” “You think,” Corey sits down at the table in surprise. “ My biggest question is if you don’t want to be with him, why did I see you leave with him last night?” “I didn’t leave with him he was just giving me a ride to my car; I usually get a ride from Taylor but he left early so Jimmy saw me walking and asked me did I need a ride?” “I never park my car at the club I always park a block down,” Corey tells Ramon “ok my other question is why are you stripping at a male gay club?” “You couldn’t find a job at a regular strip club?” Corey sits with a blank look on his face; “Well Corey, I’m waiting for answer; answer the question already,” “Ramon, I can’t answer that question not at this moment,” Corey nods his head towards Aaron.

Ramon looks puzzled with a frown on his face. “Corey are trying to say you like men?” Ramon whispers to Corey, “I don’t know, I know I love my wife.” “Corey are you attractive to men?” “I don’t know, I know I don’t want to hurt Janice she is the best wife a man like me could ask for.” “Well Corey you can’t have your cake and eat it too, and I know you better tell my cousin before I do, you are really starting to piss me off.”
