Chapter 4

1884 Words
Alex’s POV They had finally untied my arms from behind my back the other day. That felt nice, but that is the only thing that felt nice. They started sending in men who would beat me and then leave. Between the lack of food and water and beatings, I was weak. I still didn’t know where Tinlee was or if she was even alive. The girl who feeds me has stopped doing that but does bring me food occasionally. She still won’t talk to me, but I still try every time she comes in. I was yelling out for Tinlee, hoping that if she was here, she could hear me and she would yell back and let me know that she was ok. I heard the door for the basement open and a women’s heels click on the floor coming down here. This was new. It was either men or the one girl. I stopped yelling for her when I heard the women’s footsteps get closer. When they stopped in front of me, I looked up and looked into my mate’s eyes. “Tinlee?” I said. “Yes, and would you shut up?” “What are you doing? Get me out of here!” “Get you out of there. I helped put you in there.” “What are you talking about? Why would you do this? I am your mate.” “Because of who you are.” “What do you mean?” “Your mother and what she did to my mother?” “You know the stories. You know what your mom did and how she set her up.” I yelled at her. “I got the real story from my mom when I turned eighteen.” “She is lying to you. I don’t understand why you think she wouldn’t.” “She has proof.” “What kind of proof?” I asked her because I couldn’t believe that she was doing this. “Pictures and letters from Xander.” “There fake. He wouldn’t do that. He loves my mom and your mom is crazy.” “No, she isn’t. Now would you stop yelling out for me every day. It’s annoying.” “How could you do this to me? I am your mate?” “I never loved you. Were you so blinded by the mate bond that you really couldn’t tell that I didn’t love you? For god’s sake, I didn’t even let you mark me. We have tattoos to make it look real.” I didn’t answer her. Instead, I looked away from her and stared at the wall. I couldn’t believe her. I really did love her and would do anything to make her happy. I could hear her yelling at me, but I was ignoring her now. She finally walked away, and I continued to lie there looking at the wall until sleep came. The next thing I knew, I was being jerked to my feet. I didn’t have any strength left, and they had to drag me out of there. They dragged me to another room and strung my arms up over my head and walked out. It didn’t take long for my arms to start burning and screaming in pain. I couldn’t fight it, though. They used silver, and I had nothing left in me to fight with. I don’t know how long I was down here when I finally heard the basement door open and a woman’s footsteps came down. She walked through the door and I looked up to stare into my mate’s eyes. “What are you doing, Tinlee?” I asked her. “I am proving to my mom that I can do this.” She said with hate in her voice. “Do what?” She didn’t answer me but picked up a whip and started hitting me with it. I didn’t scream or make a noise. I closed my eyes and let her do what she thought she needed to because when I get out of here I will kill her. She may have been my mate, but she obviously doesn’t love me like I loved her. She finally stopped with the whip and I could feel the blood running down my back and chest and soaking my pants that I still had on. She stood at the back table looking over things when she finally picked up and knife and came over to me. “I really just wanted to kill you and use that to draw your mom out, but my mother had other plans.” She said as she brought the knife to my chest. She started to carve something into me. I tried as hard as I could not to scream, but this was like nothing I have ever experienced. I passed out before she was done. When I woke up, I was still strung up by my arms and my entire body was screaming in pain. “Smile,” a woman said that was standing in front of me. I looked up, and she snapped a picture. “Perfect,” she said, laughing. It was Clarissa. “What do you want?” I asked her, but it was a struggle to get it out. “Your mother dead, of course. The only thing I have ever wanted. I will use you to draw her out and once she is dead, we will kill you as well. Don’t worry. Your suffering will be over soon enough.” “What did she do to you?” I asked her, but I knew why she was doing this but I was hoping I could talk her out of it. She could kill me, but leave my mother alone. She has suffered enough for more than any person. “She took the love of my life away from me. She forced me to give up my daughter and live away from both of them.” “And you think that he loves you? That he ever loved you or that he will ever love you?” “He loves me. He just doesn’t realize it yet. All I have to do is get rid of your mother and then her other mate, and he will be all mine.” “And just how will you get rid of her other mate?” I asked her. She was a fool if she thought she could kill my mother or Kane. “Don’t worry about that. You will be long gone by the time we kill him.” She laughed and walked out of the room, leaving me hanging by my hands with blood dripping down my body. Someone must have come in and hit my face while I was passed out because my left eye was swollen shut, my lip was split open and I could feel other places on my face that they hit. It wasn’t long before I heard the basement door open and the soft steps of the girl that has been helping me come down. She came into the room that I was in. She undid my hands and I all but feel on top of her after she released my other hand. She helped me back to my cell. She had to do most of the work for me, but I don’t know how she did it because she was so small and underweight. “What is your name?” I asked her as we finally got to the cell they keep me in. “Karly.” She finally whispered to me. “Karly, you aren’t here on your own free will, are you?” I asked. Hoping that since she finally talked, she would keep going. “No, sir.” “If you help me, I can help you.” “I can’t help you.” “All you have to do is let my ankles go free and give me some time to heal and by morning, I can get us out of here. They trust you.” “I want to, but I can’t. They have my mom held somewhere else and I have to do what they say or they will kill her.” “I can help your mom, too.” “No, I won’t risk it.” She walked out of the room but quickly came back with some water for me. I drank it down and laid on the hard floor on my side. I knew what was coming. They would send that picture to my mom and they would come. I wasn’t afraid they would get hurt. I knew how powerful my mom was and with both of my fathers they would be unstoppable. “Get some rest.” She said and left my cell. The blackness didn’t take long for it to take over. I woke to people upstairs yelling at each other. It sounded like Clarissa and one of the men that was down here when I was first brought down. They were yelling at each other because one thought the plan would work perfectly and one didn’t. Clarissa was so sure it would work, and this man wasn’t completely convinced. He wanted to move us to a different location, and she wanted to lead them right to us. She thought she could take them head on. “I have been training my whole life for this. I am strong and capable.” Clarissa yelled at him. “She is an emerald wolf. You think you can take her on in combat?” He yelled back. “I know I can. She doesn’t have anything on me.” “You are crazy.” “If you won’t help, get the f**k out. Leave and don’t come back.” “You know I will help you, but I really think we need to rethink this plan. You jumped too fast.” And that’s when the fight went from yelling to make up s*x and I had to tune them out. I tried to so hard to sleep but they were loud and not letting up. Where was everyone else in the house? After they finally stopped, sleep came again, but once again was short-lived when the basement door opened up and I knew it was Karly by her light footsteps. She opened my cell and had food and water for me. I tried to talk to her, but she refused again. “Karly, I am telling you we can get out of here.” She just looked at me with tears in her eyes. It was dark in here, but I could see them and I could also see the bruise on her cheek forming. “Please help me so I can help you.” Nothing from her and once I finished eating, she pulled a rag out of the bag that held the food and she dumped some water on it. She started to clean the wounds on my face and then tried on my chest, but the rag was small and quickly dirty. She gave me a small smile and left my room. I would convince her one way or another to help me and I would get us both out of there.
