Alex’s POV
“Alex, I am sorry about your mate,” Zara said, trying to comfort me. I didn’t even know she was here. She found me pacing the hallway outside of Sam’s room where they were doing surgery.
“Zara, what are you doing here?”
“My mom told me what was going on, so I came to check on you.”
“Why though? What we had was a onetime thing and friendship, that is it.”
“I know that, and this is just me being a friend. I worry about you since you know.”
“There is no need to worry about me.”
“Alex,” she said as she turned us and pressed me against the wall. My hands had clasped around hers that were on my chest.
“Zara, you need to leave. I need to focus on my mate. You can’t be here.”
“Alex, I am honestly just trying to help. Nothing more.”
