I’ll never stop chasing you

I am currently on the way back home from college, I had just finished it. I did most of it online but I had to go in-person for a semester to officially finish. I want to be a nurse, like my mother. My father is the chief of police. They don’t know I’m coming home, I want to surprise them. Today is my birthday! I turn eighteen today. Being eighteen is a huge success in the vampire community. You are able to find your beloved. My father is a vampire whilst my mother is a Lycan. Although mix-breeding is frowned upon, they couldn’t help it, it was fate. I’ve always wanted a mate like that, someone who would treat me right and respect me. I was pulled out of my thoughts as my phone rang. It was my best friend Brandon. He is a werewolf. I answered the phone and put it on speaker. “Hey bestie! Happy birthday!” He practically yelled. “Hey bubba! Thank you!” I smiled. “So, when are you coming home? I miss you!” He whined. “I’m actually on the way home now, but keep quiet, it’s a surprise.” I giggled. “Really?? I’m gonna go to mommas house then!” He said as you could hear him get up. “Okay, I’m about thirty minutes away, please keep it a secret.” I begged. “Of course, my lips are zipped!” He laughed. “Okay, love you, see you soon.” I smiled. “Love you too, see you soon.” With that he hung up. I couldn’t believe we were best friends, or friends at all. He is a werewolf, and I’m a vampire, the two creatures are swore enemies. I couldn’t be more grateful that we are best friends. ~thirty minutes later~ I had finally arrived at the house. I hid my scent and walked into the house. “Momma, they don’t feed me! I’m always starving!” I heard Brandon whine. “You are so full of it! You’re in a pack, you’re a warrior, of course they feed you.” My mom argued. “Okay, well I’m still hungry!” He crossed his arms over his chest and it made me giggle. Their hands snapped over in my direction and mom ran to me, hugging me tightly. “Oh! My baby is home! Happy birthday sweetheart!” She kissed my forehead before letting go. “Honey! Our baby is home! Get down here!” My mother yelled at my father from downstairs. “Thank you momma.” I smiled. Brandon came around and hugged me. “Happy birthday, hun.” He smiled. I hugged him back and smiled. “Thank you, baes.” “Happy birthday kiddo! I can’t believe you are the big 18!” My father said as he also gave me a hug. “Thank you dad.” I smiled at him. I really missed them all. I felt huge paws jump on me, and a giant head nudge me. It was my dog, Beast, he is a huge cane corso. “Hiii! My baby! I missed you!” I cooed at him. He jumped on me again and was wagging his tail. I petted him before he jumped down and ran outside from the doggy-door. “So, what do you want to do for your birthday?” My mom asked. “Hmm, I’m not sure. Nothing too big. Movie night?” I answered. “If I ever say no to that, shoot me!” She gasped. I giggled and my dad growled. “You are not dying on me.” He said as he went behind her and hugged her. They began to kiss. “Yuck, go get a room.” Brandon said with a look of disgust. They stopped kissing and rolled their eyes at him. I went to the fridge to get a snack, I grabbed some grapes. I love the fruit grapes, but I hate anything grape flavored. It’s just not the same. “I need you to run to the store for some things for movie night though.” My mom mentioned as she started making a list. “Okay, do you want to come Brandon?” I asked as I continued to eat the grapes. “Uh obviously.” He stated as he came over to me and began eating my grapes. “So what about your pack? Are you allowed to stay the night?” I asked. “Yeah, I will just tell my alpha I am going to visit some old friends of mine, for the night.” He answered, stuffing his face with grapes. I nodded. I prefer to be alone, with my parents and occasionally Brandon. A pack is a lot of people and I’m anti-social. “Okay, here is the list. What do you want for dinner?” My mother asked as she handed me the list. “Oooo, Chinese takeout?” I question. “Of course, it is your birthday, you decide.” My father answered. “Awesome!” I smiled. “I’ll order it while y’all are out getting that.” My mother smiled. “Okay, I love y’all, we shall return!” I yelled walking out to the car. I got in the drivers side while Brandon got in the passenger seat. He hooked his phone to the Bluetooth and started playing some Cardi B, the song “Thru Your Phone” came on band we started jamming out. We got out of the car at the mall, and walked in. I looked at the list. Cookies, food coloring, sprinkles, popcorn, ice cream, and sodas. My eyes lit up at ice cream, it is my favorite. We walked to the grocery part of the mall as Brandon grabbed a grocery cart. I felt like someone was staring at me but when I looked around, I didn’t see anyone. I shrugged it off for now and walked to go get the stuff. Once we got everything we went to go pay for it. I still felt like someone was watching me, but I still didn’t see anyone stand out. I grabbed the bags and basically ran out of the mall. “What’s wrong?” Brandon asked. “I don’t know, I felt like someone was staring at me.” I answered. “Oh, that’s weird.” He commented. “Yeah.” I responded. I put the car in drive and went back to the house. I smelt the Chinese food from outside the house and jogged inside to eat.
