Chapter 2 Third POV " Promise? When did you promise your dad?" Lora enquired. " Yesterday, before I went to school...." she begun to explain then changed her mind. " You met him before going to school? And what did he say? " She said rather lamely,".... never mind." " No, say what you were about to say..." She insisted. Liah took a deep breath. " He said, ' his time was up.' And he was going up to the big 'G'. He would be a star at night and would take care of us." Lora hugged Liah. " I am so proud of you." She was astonished. " So help me keep my word, not to let you cry. Not even a tear." Molly became so emotional after she listened, to the mother and daughter. She teared up. ******************** Liah might have looked strong on the outside but deep down she was equally hurt. She loved her father dearly. He was her number one Hero. The day before, she had ordered the driver to drive her to her father in the hospital. He had stage four cancer. The cancer cells had already spread to other organs an he was dieing slowly. Lora had left the hospital that time, she was in the house preparing Jame's favourite meal. After she prepared Liah for school. " Dad! " " My prin...cess..." his voice broke slightly. She scanned her father's body. " Dad, why are you so pale?" Liah questioned. He smiled and patted her head. " Liah I knew you would come.Take this?" He took a brown book under his pillow. " Is it a journal?" " Not just any journal it is mine." " Yours? Then why are you giving it to me?" He tugged Liah's hair behind her ear. " It is now yours. Take care of it. read it and learn from it. I don't have more time. I know you are intelligent, that was why I thought you a lot. Promise me, you would take good care of your mom and yourself. Never let her cry. " "...... I promise you dad. " her lips shivered slightly. " Thats my princess. Remember all I have taught you." " Yes dad." " Now go, you are getting late for school. " She hugged her father tightly as she sobbed. " Hey, you don't have to cry. " " Why dad please don't leave me, don't leave us." Liah pleaded. This made his heart break. He wished he could unfortunately his time was up and there was nothing he could do. " Who would protect us. Dad nobody can love us like you do." " I will be a star up there at night to watch over you and your mother and every thing would be fine." He dried her tears. " No I don't want to go to school. I want to stay here with you...." " No... dear... " He couldn't afford to let her stay, when he knew he was certainly not going to stay till noon. *** During the burial ceremony of James Johnson, a very good man. The CEO of JJ.TECH and company he toiled hard to build. People from different prominent families came to sympathise with the family. Others felt pity for Lora, it was just after six years of marriage. They couldn't imagine the pain she was going through not leaving James' mother it was just a year ago she tragically lost her husband. " Are you happy now?
