Artemis's POV Rays of sunlight shone directly on my face causing me to stir from my sleep, I turned over to the other side; trying to get more sleep. I felt a feline and soft touch on my torso and I groaned inwardly as it became irritating and repulsive. "It's still early, stay." A feminine voice drawled. This gave me enough strength to get out of bed, she clicked her tongue as she realized this and sat up, covering her nudity with the duvet as I began to wear my clothes. "It's morning, leave." I reminded her. "I have a feeling you'd be needing me around." She hinted. I stared daggers at her while she in turn glanced at the bulge that graced my pants, I followed her eyes and was embarrassed by my own erection, it was too early for such, I growled and tucked it in-between my thighs. "I could help you with that, you know." She opined, a glint of mischief flashing across her eyes. "I have work to do." I uttered, hinting that it was her cue to leave. "We barely spend the entire day together, you're always in a hurry." She complained. I chuckled softly and downed a glass of water, suddenly feeling thirsty. She got up, getting rid of the duvet and walked up to me naked, in her full beauty, she placed her hand on my shoulders and tried to hug me from behind and I could feel the pressure of their fully erect boobs on my back but I wasn't in the mood of that though it gave me a hard-on. "You should take a rest, don't you think? I can help relieve the stress of carrying the pack's burden on your shoulders." She whispered, flirtatiously. "If I did just that then I wouldn't have a pack to return to now will I?" I retorted, sarcastically. Calmly releasing myself from her seductive embrace, I strode towards the bathroom. I washed my face and caught sight of my reflection which seems to be mocking me and snorted. When I came out, the girl was still there and I shook my head. "I told you to leave." I repeated myself. "But-" She was cut short as the door to my room flung open and a more beautiful and gorgeous lady strode in like she owned the place, she paused and took a look at my mistress with disdain evident in her eyes and turned her attention towards me, ignoring the former's existence. "Have you forgotten how to knock Ravenna?" I scolded as Ravenna clicked her tongue, loudly. "I see you've changed your interests to redheads, classic." Ravenna retorted, eyeing me suspiciously. "How dare you barge in like you own this place and-" "Shut up!" Ravenna ordered, growling lowly as a subtle form of warning. The girl seemed to be displeased and she looked at me but I didn't react. "The council of elders demands for your presence." Ravenna announced. "Demands?" I snickered. "They request for it, humbly." She corrected herself. "Where?" "The meeting room." "Lead the way, and it better be something worth it." I threatened, subtly. We began to leave and the redhead suddenly blocked out path, Ravenna gave her a warning look but the redhead was adamant. "How could you just decide to leave me like I'm some piece of trash?" She cried. Ravenna looked at me for consent and I nodded in approval. "Don't you dare look down on-" The redhead was silenced as Ravenna snapped instantly and had her hand at the girl's neck, slamming her against the wall. "Don't kill her Ravenna, it's too early." I commented, lazily. The girl looked at me as if I was insane and the once friendly look I had on my face disappeared. "I told you to leave didn't I? See what you've done to yourself." I reminded her. Without anymore words, I walked away from her knowing fully well that she had gotten the message. The elders stood on their feet as a sign of respect the moment I stepped into the meeting room, my look was cold and aloof and I didn't spare anyone a generous glance. I scowled as I took my seat and they followed my cue. "Alpha Artemis, it is an honor to see that you honored our call and-" "Get it over with, I don't have all day!" I snapped, abruptly putting an end to the elder's babbles. He cleared his throat and looked at the other elders faces, as if awaiting some form of support and motivation. "You all know the penalty for wasting my time, don't you?" I reminded them, my voice echoing through the silent room. "Of course, we're just concerned about you, you've been bearing the burdens of all packs and ensuring that the Lycan kingdom is-" "Get to the point old man!" I growled. "As the sovereign ruler, we feel it's expedient you find your mate, someone to lead side-by-side with you and-" "I have told you numerous times not to poke your nose into my private business and let me be, I will present my mate to you when the right time.comes and-" "When exactly is the right time!" Everywhere fell dead silent as only one man dared to interrupt when I'm speaking and I turned to see the oldest elder, glance at me. I rubbed my temples gently seeing that they were giving me a headache. "I have been surviving quite well without a mate so far, I think I can survive a little longer, don't you think there are other important things to worry about?" I retorted. "That is not the point, your father found his mate when-" "Don't you dare compare me to my father! I am not him and this will be the very last time any of you dares to summon me for such useless things! I have better things to do, if you would excuse me!" I roared angrily and stormed off, banging the door loudly behind me. Ravenna trailed behind and tried to calm me down but I heard none of it. "I have to deal with some urgent and important business, take care of everything until I return, I'm putting you in charge." I ordered her. "But-" "No buts Ravenna, do as I say." I said dismissively and walked out. I went straight to the parking lot, threw in the bottle of wine I got from the wine cellar on my way out and got into the car. I drove out of the mansion straight to the one location that was my safe haven, somewhere no one knew of my identity, where I could vent out, in peace.
