The Alpha's Burden
Zane's POV
"You're protecting her too much." Kai's voice stopped me just as I reached the door of my office.
I didn't turn around immediately Instead, I pushed the door open and walked inside. I knew Kai well enough to know he wasn't going to let the conversation end there.
A second later, he followed me in and shut the door behind him. The room became quiet I walked past my desk and stopped in front of the window overlooking the training grounds. The evening drills had already ended. A few warriors remained behind, putting away their weapons before heading home.
